Pope Benedict is right! There is very little justification for introducing ‘liturgical’ dance in the celebration of the Church’s liturgy anywhere except perhaps Africa where there is a long tradition of solemn slow dancing in religious celebrations.
If your are not sure of this, watch Stephen Colbert’s parody of liturgical dancing. If that does not convince you I do not know what will convince you that the Pope is right.
People just want the benefits of associating with the Church. They don’t really want to obey the Pope anymore than they really want to obey the Lord Jesus.
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I command?”
(Our Lord Jesus from a reading of the Gospel according to Luke, chapter VI, verse 46)

Wouldn’t it be nice if the 68,500,000 registered Roman Catholics in the United States just “obeyed” the Pope on the issue of liturgical dance, clapping during Mass, living the form of chastity appropriate to their married, priestly, religious or single state of life and voting as one against pro-Abortion political candidates? Isn’t obeying the Pope the litmus test of being a true Roman Catholic anymore? Of course it is. It always was and always will be!
