If things were not bad enough, now a group of ethicists at Oxford University is arguing that parents should be allowed to have their new born babies killed because they are “morally irrelevant” so that ending their lives is no different from abortion itself. Their “argument”, in an article published in the Journal of Medical Ethics maintains that newborn babies do not have a moral right to life and that parents “should” have their babies killed if they are born with birth defects. The article is entitled “After Birth Abortion: Why Should The Baby Live?” It was written by Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva. Professor Julian Savulescu is the Director of the Oxford Uehiro Center for Practical Ethics and an associate of the two professors who penned the article. The Director of the Institute noted that the two authors of the article have received death threats and that those who have been publically critical of the article are “fanatics opposed to the very values of liberal society.” One of the professors [Giubilini] gave a lecture at the Oxford Martin School entitled “What is Wrong with Euthanasia.” Readers who want to read more about this despicable and shocking study can find more information in an article by “Telegraph” medical correspondent Stephen Adams “Telegraph: Killing Babies No Different Than Abortion -Experts Say” [Friday 2 March 2012]
