FIGHT AGAINST DANGEROUS REGULATIONS PROPOSED BY TWO SENATORS AND TWO REPRESENTATIVES, ALL DEMOCRATS, SEEKING TO GOVERNMENTAL BANNING OF COUNSELING REGARDING “CHANGE THERAPY”
Four agenda-driven Democrat lawmakers have requested that the Federal Trade Commission ban all counsel that offers to change, reduce, or eliminate a client’s unwanted same-sex sexual attractions, behavior, or identity. {They seek a clear expansion of government by bureaucrats }
If enacted, licensed counselors who provide such counsel at the request of their clients or who refer clients to another licensed counselor who does so, will be violating the law and would be charged with ethical misconduct and risk losing their licenses! Licensed Christian counselors will be forced to disregard their clients’ religious beliefs … or change them, even when the client seeks help.

We, the undersigned citizens declare our opposition to the requested FTC regulatory action in the letter drafted by Senators Patty Murray (WA) and Cory Booker (NJ), and Representatives Jackie Speier (CA) and Ted Lieu (CA), banning “Conversion Therapy” by licensed and trained counselors. This request is an outrageous overreach of a government agency’s power and a clear violation of individual rights. The allegations made in the letter are one-sided and skewed toward the pro-homosexual viewpoint.
This law will prohibit counselors from providing and minors and their parents from receiving desired counseling and will force counselors to violate ethical codes because they will not be able to help clients reach their own counseling goals. We believe these tactics are unconstitutional, and override parental and individual rights for a person seeking this type of counseling.
The licenses of countless mental health professionals hang in the balance. Even worse, the lives of many young people and their families will be destroyed under this potential ban.
For civil government or its agencies to assume that it knows best concerning the kind of counseling individual patients should receive is the height of hubris and ignorance!
Citizens should decide the proper course of counseling, as we know far better about the welfare of our people than four agenda-driven lawmakers.
