I don’t know why, but this is the second long post from Abyssum that has turned up in my post ‘labels’ column. It should be ‘labelled’ as such, but should not include the whole article – which takes up a huge amount of column. I would be grateful if you would remedy this, otherwise I may be forced to delete your posts, which I definitely do not want to do. Thank you. Brian Crowe.
Professor Beckwith, There are the arguments you have with others – both prodeath and prolife – arguing with logic, rhetoric, statistics, and facts trying to 1. present the prolife view and 2. sometimes, change the view of the person you are arguing with. Another and very different scenario is trying to convince a girl or woman NOT to kill her baby. The most extreme case for this is in the few moments, sometimes not even a minute, that you have to change the mind of a girl or woman walking from a car to the entrance of an abortion business-often with an “escort” who is talking to her and preventing her from hearing you or responding to you. My daughter who has personally been involved in over 150 actual saves – and untold others unknown – who has taught sidewaslk angeling, is convinced that the most important thing to do is to personalize the girl and her baby. If nothing else, saying the words “your baby” can have more impact than a sermon, a speech, or a whole book.
Also, more recently, the prodeath people, their democrat party cadre, and feminists for death have come clean: they say yes, we agree with you, this is indeed a human being. Some of them will even grant that it is a person and go so far as to say yes, it is and should be a legal person. They then proceed, on an alleged “self defense” moral justification, to say that the girl or woman has “the right” to kill this human being, this person. The worst example of this is those who now say that the so-called “mother” has this right for some months, even years, post-birth.
Thank you for this artilce.
