It was back in 2011 and Beto was pretty much just spouting the age old nominal Catholic nonsense.
Most see it as scandalous for a politician to NOT be a mouthpiece for what’s taught as the new “enlightened Catholicism” of today.
This kind of dissent is what’s been “taught” (discerned?) by what would seem the majority of Catholic prelates and theologians over the last decade (and longer).
I’m certainly not defending Beto-boy; but I do wish I hadn’t stopped being scandalized by “Catholic” politicians a long time ago.
Just give good ol “Catholic”?Trudeau a listen for five minutes sometime.
In Canada, I doubt the good Father would be given a platform to speak for that amount of time, especially in the bold and truly Catholic manner that he did.
And Father sure seemed careful to repeatedly insist he wasn’t represrnting the Bishop of the Diocese (wonder who that was at the time?).
The fact that he had to repeatedly insist he wasn’t representing the Bishop or diocese “in any way” was the true scandal.
Beto appeared so smug expressing the typical “Catholic” Democrat herd mentality (which is truely shameful, but hardly surprising).
It certainly should be perceived as scandalous by more people who call themselves Catholic. But I’m afraid that stopped happening quite awhile ago.
