Curt Stoller commented on SNAP JUDGMENTS ARE ALWAYS BAD JUDGMENTS BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS WRONG JUDGMENTS
There is something diabolical about the news media. Before you gasp and say that I have succumbed to some kind of psychosis, let me explain what I mean. It is a truism of journalism that good news doesn’t sell newspapers. Bad news sells newspapers. And bad news is like free advertising for Satan and his angels. Consider this… Neither the New York Times nor CNN is going to come out and announce: 10,000 commercial aircraft took off and landed safely today. 90,000,000 commuters drove safely to work and back today. There were no earthquakes, floods, tsunamis in most of the populated areas of the earth today. Most human being today did not commit either a murder or a rape. You are never going to hear that in the news even though those statements are absolutely true. But the one plane that crashes: that’s news. God never gets good press. And whether that is intentional or unintentional is irrelevant. Its diabolical. Knowing that, one would be well advised to exercise care when hearing the news media talk about the sexual abuse “crisis” in the Catholic Church. Here is something you will never hear on the news: “The great majority of Catholic clergy and laity are not child sex abusers.” “The Catholic Church does not contain a greater number of individuals afflicted with pedophilia than any other organization.” Those are shining truths hidden by the news media. The liberal news media and the conservative Fundamentalist Christian movement can be said to have nothing in common. But nothing unites these two mortal adversaries so well as a mutual hatred of the Roman Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is the last united formidable adversary of liberalism, relativism and the culture of the death. Our separated brothers are too divided and small for this even when they have the will to oppose these things. And sadly, a great deal of energy in many of the evangelical churches is devoted to undermining Catholicism which to be quite blunt is in many cases their raison d’etre, n’est-ce pas? There are several large evangelical super churches in my home town. One was founded by a fallen away ex-Catholic priest. I am told that many of the church services are devoted to attacking the Catholic Church; that “sheep stealing” is a major ministry of the church; and that print, radio and media ministries are geared toward trying to prove theologically that the Catholic Church is wrong, is evil and so on. One member of this super church is the County Sheriff. Another is the Mayor. Some are in the news media. Now what do you suppose a journalist who is fed a constant diet of anti-Catholicism on Sunday does the rest of the week if he is a journalist or a lawyer? Do you suppose he has amnesia for all this anti-Catholicism Monday through Friday? There is an organized, well-funded movement in America to destroy the Catholic Church. Those of you who are part of it know who you are.

Mr. Stoller has formulated in powerful words the many nebulous thoughts I’ve had about the news media’s inherent unfairness towards the Catholic Church. Someone should send this comment to CNN and other liberal, socialist and anti-Catholic media outlets. Their response will probably be silence. But won’t that speak volumes of their guilt?
