The Priest and the Tabernacle: not to face God while addressing Him is blasphemy

How would you feel if someone spoke to you like this?
Fr. Thomasz Jochemczyk, of the Diocese of Albenga-Imperia, Italy, in a lecture at the International Congress for the Reign of Christ the King, presented in dramatic fashion the spiritual/theological and psychological consequences of the priest saying Mass with his back to Our Lord in the Tabernacle.

Is this not insulting?

Fr. Jochemczyk asks: how would you feel if someone addressed you with their back to you? Is it not an insult? And what are we to make of such a stance – literally – when the priest address Our Lord, turned away from Him? Remember, Jesus Christ is God, He is our King. He is truly and substantially Present in the Tabernacle.

This is how you address someone

Indeed every picture does tell a story!

A great many years go I entered a Benedictine church, on the West Cumberland (UK) coast and was horrified to discover that all the pews had encircled a ‘table altar’ with the tabernacle at the rear. Since then I have come across all manner of the unacceptable. I still find it disconcerting to discover a celebrant sitting with his back to the tabernacle whilst lay readers recite the readings.

  2. This is why we must return to TLM ad orientem globally. Modernists pay no attention to God but we must make them.
