In Spain the social-communist government didn’t order to close the churches.
One is allowed to go to the supermarket, to pharmacies, to tobacconists and to the banks, but when I went to the parish church at Mass time, it was closed.
Here we have some ecclesiastics who seem to be more sanchist than the very Sánchez.

OR how about next time you happen to meet your parish priest or your bishop, LOUDLY greet him from six feet or more away with the words, “Bless me Father, for I have sinned!!!! It’s been ____________ since my last confession!!!!” And then go from there. If he is another Christ, surely he will abide with you–at the appropriate social distancing measure.

For myself, I find perfect contrition a most difficult state of soul to come by, my ability to justify and quibble is so well practiced. Imperfect contrition, on the other hand, when contemplating hell and reading the Sts’ lives and their own presentations of hell, is much more attainable.

You see, amdsihs2019, upon finding oneself in a state of mortal sin, the instructions in my diocese to “strive for perfect contrition and make a good Act of Contrition with the intent of getting to confession as soon as possible”, I find a little daft because the suspension of the sacraments is indefinite and one is only a candidate for the sacraments IF one is near death. At that time, one is to call and make arrangements for confession. Your suggestion to offer it up under these circumstances just doesn’t pass muster.

  3. You got that right, Kemosabe.

So you’re not happy about this, Kitty? Let’s see if you’re REALLY Catholic. If you’re really Catholic, what are you supposed to do if there’s anything you just can’t abide? (Cue the “Jeopardy” Theme.). Bzzzzzt! The answer is: OFFER IT UP FOR THE SOULS IN PURGATORY!!! If you have already offered it up for the Souls in Purgatory, please disregard this notice.

P.S. – Oh, and try to avoid the temptation to “call in airstrikes” (see Luke 9:54-55) Didn’t work out too well then. Likely not to work out too well now. Sometimes all we can do is sigh, say “fiat voluntas tua”, and be glad we’re not in charge 🙂
