Senate Approves Bill that Legalizes Sodomy and Bestiality in U.S. Military

(CNSNews.com)(Updated) The Senate on Thursday evening voted 93-7 to approve a defense authorization bill that includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, it also repeals the military ban on sex with animals–or bestiality.

On Nov. 15, the Senate Armed Services Committee had unanimously approved S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a provision to repeal Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

Article 125 of the UCMJ makes it illegal to engage in both sodomy with humans and sex with animals.

It states: “(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said the effort to remove sodomy from military law stems from liberal Senate Democrats’ and President Obama’s support for removing the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy.

“It’s all about using the military to advance this administration’s radical social agenda,” Perkins told CNSNews.com. “Not only did they overturn Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, but they had another problem, and that is, under military law sodomy is illegal, just as adultery is illegal, so they had to remove that prohibition against sodomy.”

Perkins said removing the bestiality provision may have been intentional–or just “collateral damage”

“Well, whether it was inadvertent or not, they have also taken out the provision against bestiality,” he said. “So now, under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), there’s nothing there to prosecute bestiality.”

Former Army Col. Bob Maginnis said some military lawyers have indicated that bestiality may be prosecutable under another section of the military code of justice – the “catch-all” Article 134 for offenses against “good military order and discipline.”

But don’t count on that, he said.

“If we have a soldier who engages in sodomy with an animal – whether a government animal or a non-government animal – is it, in fact, a chargeable offense under the Uniform Code? I think that’s in question,” Maginnis told CNSNews.com.

“When the reader stops laughing, the reader needs to ask the question whether or not this is in the best interests of the government, in the best interests of the military and the best interests of the country? I think not.”

He added: “Soldiers, unfortunately, like it or not, have engaged in this type of behavior in the past. Will they in the future, if they remove this statute? I don’t know.”

Perkins said there was no attempt to remove the UCMJ repeal provision from the bill, which Perkins had expected the Senate to approve.

Now that it has passed, however, the Senate version will have to go to a conference committee, and Perkins predicts there will be several sticking points with the House.

“The House in their version of the defense authorization, reinforced the Defense of Marriage Act, saying that there is a military DOMA as well, prohibiting same-sex marriage on military bases – something the Department of Defense is pushing for,” he said.

“And now this is an added concern, that sodomy has been removed, and as we have discovered, that bestiality–the prohibition against it–has been removed from the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So yes, the House will have problems with this bill.”

As I type this comment, I sit with my friend’s MacBook in my lap, at his home in San Antonio, on this Sunday morning with strong, driving winds and dark gloomy clouds blotting out the blue empyrean, with rain coming down like tears from the eyes of the sky. And when I told him of this news, he literally believed it was a joke. And at last, he indeed found an article on this story, but it was from a not-for-profit news site, “cnsnews.com”. He did not find an article among any of the mainstream media’s sites, and I think this says something. Could it be that even they are appalled with the sick and disgusting thinking of these people who have dared to pass this bill? Or could it be that the mainstream media, thinking that this is truly an enlightened move in the way of enlightened progress, refuse to report it so that this bill may not be attacked and dismantled, morally and intellectually, by its opponents? Either way, we have fallen to a new low. And I’m afraid that we can go lower.

There are simply no words in any of the languages of this world which can serve to express the utter disgust and unbelief which I feel right now. My friend, when I was done telling him of this surreal reality, was at first shocked, and then he felt disgust as I did. And then we both came to the conclusion that the crap which our liberal officials cram down our throats has served only to sustain the gradual erosion of conscience within us all. There is no longer a “shock factor” in this country. We have seen and heard almost everything. And to have seen and heard it all will make us no less shocked. For nothing now shocks us. And this is a damned tragedy.

How will they ever come to realize that this is a moral catasrophe if not by the knowing which comes only after death? How will they ever come to see the error of their ways, their thinking, their philosophies, their worldviews? No, I’m afraid that even if Christ Himself were to appear to each of them, they would still not be converted. Paul before his conversion was one of the greatest enemies of the Church, and yet he came about from the direction he was going. But not so with these sick men of the Senate. What will it take to shake them from their dark daydreams and fantasies? We have prayed and prayed. We have written them letters. We have posted editorials and news articles and blog posts. We, the Faithful, have done so very much to turn them. What happens next will be the fruit of their doing. The citizens of Eternity will be our witnesses, and will condemn them for their stubbornness. And when the end comes, God will have His way. And if they refuse to be changed in this world, to their dying moment, let them be damned in hell forever.

It is ironic that a secular culture that prides itself on being critical and intellectually sophisticated may actually be the most gullible group of people that has ever existed in world history. A large number of people today “will believe anything” and call this attitude enlightenment. It is culpably shameful.

In the university you learn that advancement comes from being published and being published is based on saying something “new.” No one gets published by upholding common sense or eternal truths. It’s the “novel” theory that attracts scholarly attention and publication. And since it is publish or perish in academia, there is no end to crackpot theories about everything. What surprises me is the number of people who fall for all this rot. Don’t think some hungry graduate student or tenured professor somewhere has not sung the praises of bestiality. Perhaps in a serious psychological or psychiatric publication. . .

Gullibility is deadly, both physically and spiritually. Consider the incredible, mind boggling utopian fairy tale told by Karl Marx in “The Communist Manifesto.” Does one have to be a genius to know that everything can’t be explained by economics and class warfare? Does one really need a Ph.D. to realize that “the march of dialectical materialism” is so ludicrous as to not even be believable as science fiction? Yet millions of so-called intellectuals fell for it and their gullibility resulted in the deaths of millions of innocent people. Sadly Marxism has now morphed into various Protestant and Catholic Liberation theologies which Pope Benedict has brilliantly exposed for what it is. Of course most Christian intellectuals have never bothered to read Pope Benedict since dissent is considered as “cool” in theological circles as is “novelty” in the rest of academia.

Many Catholics have this strange impression that the truths of the faith and the praeambula fidei are somehow teetering and and on the verge of collapse when exactly the opposite is the case. Roman Catholic teaching is based on eternal truths and is rock solid. Catholic wisdom makes quick work of most of the clap trap that parades as intellectual sophistication today. Make no mistake about it.

Do you want to know what fairy tales and myths are? Here are some: “Man is nothing but a machine.” “There is no qualitative difference between a man and an ape.” “Human behavior is hydraulically driven by libido.” “History is a march of progress.” “Everything can be reduced to a single material principle.” “Human history can be thoroughly elucidated based on class warfare.”
“What’s true for you may not be true for me.” “All philosophies and religions are true.” “The human fetus is not human.” “Individuals exist for the State and have no value or dignity accept that given to them by the State.” “It is permissible to commit crimes including mass murder to advance the utopian society.” “Envy is good and provides the solid basis of social justice.” “Political consensus is the ultimate authority in all matters.” “Everything is relative.” This mindless drivel wouldn’t have made it past the ancient pagan thinkers Plato and Aristotle. The entire pro-choice movement wouldn’t have made it past the pagan Hippocrates! We are an incredible gullible people!

It is interesting that in Sacred Scripture there is the passage: “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.'” The fool is the gullible person, the person that will fall for anything. How much blood is on the hands of fools? People today surf the internet looking for the latest medical opinion. One day it is: “This is good for you.” The next day it is “this is bad for you.” And people run from expert to another. This kind of gullibility would be ludicrous if it wasn’t so tragic. If any age has earned the title “Dark Ages,” it is this one! God help us!
