A few days ago I received a call from a man I recently met named George. He was a bit flustered, and soon informed me that his young son was sick with a chest condition. He pleaded with me to send him $1,000 to cover the medical bills. Since George was at the hospital I asked him to let me speak to a nurse, and she confirmed that George’s son was indeed ill. So I agreed to send George the money through Western Union. He was profusely grateful.
But before I hung up I asked George, “Why are you coming to me?” He said, “I have no one else to ask.” Then he said something that astounded me, “Dinesh, you are like a brother to me.”
Actually, George has a real life brother who just happens to be the president of the United States. (George Obama is the youngest of eight children sired by Barack Obama Sr.) George’s brother is a multimillionaire and the most powerful man in the world. Moreover, George’s brother has framed his re-election campaign around the “fair share” theme that we owe obligations to those who are less fortunate.
“It’s that fundamental belief – I am my brother’s keeper,
I am my sister’s keeper – that makes this country work.”
Senator Barack Obama July 26, 2004
“I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper – that’s a value.”
President Barack Obama April 2, 2012

George Obama,30, lives in Nairobi, Kenya, in a what has been described in a US news report as a shack “like something out of Slumdog Millionaire”.
Dinesh D’Souza, author of the book The Roots of Obama’s Rage, tracked down George Obama and interviewed him for the film 2016: Obama’s America.
In the clip published by the Hollywood Reporter, D’Souza asks George Obama why the half-brother of the most powerful man on the planet lives in poverty. The president’s half-brother refuses to criticise him.
“I think he has a family of his own,” George Obama says. “I’m a member of his family, but I’m over-age, so I help myself.”
“He’s got other issues to deal with,” he says. “He’s taking care of the world, so he’s taking care of me.”
George Obama is the youngest of several children that Barack Obama, Sr. had with his four wives.
“He was really educated,” George said of his deceased father.
“My mum was disappointed in me because I actually didn’t finish my schooling. I really did let her down, I let my father down because he was an intellectual guy.”
