That “will to power” is the heart and soul of occultism. There is a reason why so many of the women religious talk about “empowerment” and seek ordination. Once you throw out God, all that is left is you. Answering to no one puts you totally in control. What does a person want when they are totally in control but that their own will be done. The person becomes a sort of mini god in their own mini universe. The occult magician’s mindset was coined by Aleister Crowley: “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.” It’s a short hop from the desire to the deed, and the deed is accomplished, or at least attempted, in magic rituals which intend to procure the will of the magician. The pinnacle magic ritual experience is evocation. The accomplished magician brings a spirit into materialization where the sensory response validates that the will has been accomplished. I found an insightful article on the dangers of the occult called Therapeutic Religion by Carrie Tomko. Carrie’s article is posted below. She showed, using an article that I wrote on how secular occult-like psychology lead to the Catholic sex abuse scandal, where the real battle in the Catholic Church is.

The real battle of our epoch and every epoch is doing God’s will vs. occultism’s “magic rituals which intend to procure the will [to power]” which is the battle of the Christian worldview vs. the occult worldview:

THERAPEUTIC RELIGION

Can the source of the sexual abuse scandal be traced to a shift in our spirituality? One writer, at least, believes it can.

Fred Martinez reports in “Nietzsche and the Church Scandals” at the Catholic Educator’s Resource Center website that

Therapeutic approaches have a basic assumption that is not Christian. Their starting point is not the Christian worldview…The denial of original sin and personal sin is, in large part, behind the headlines of the Boston catastrophe and other dioceses. …

One must remember that whenever someone talks about values in modern America–family values or religious values or place-the-blank-in-front-of values–they are saying there is no real or objective right or wrong–only opinions of the self and its will to power.

That “will to power” is the heart and soul of occultism. There is a reason why so many of the women religious talk about “empowerment” and seek ordination. This thinking is contrary to the way God made us. It is not unusual for the magician to be driven into insanity through this process. Spirits tend to have a mind of their own and power over the magician, as many have learned a little too late. The spirit the magician intended to own ends up owning him.

As chaos magician Peter J. Carroll puts it:

Works on the level of trance, vision, imagination and dream. It opens the magician’s subconscious by negating the psychic censor with various techniques. The magician faces considerable danger on this level and may have frequent recourse to sorcery techniques or banishing ritual if it threatens to obsess or overwhelm him.

In spite of the danger, Catholics are being taught at retreats to attempt a sort of trance state by seeking to silence their mind in meditation. Guided meditation can be found in Catholic courses on spirituality. Can Catholics be sure that the benefits outweigh the risks?

The Martinez article continues, quoting philosopher Allan Bloom’s summation of Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophy as it appears in Bloom’s book THE CLOSING OF THE AMERICAN MIND:

Commitment values the values and makes them valuable. Not love of truth but intellectual honesty characterizes the proper state of mind. Since there is no truth in the values, and what truth there is about life is not lovable, the hallmark of the authentic will is consulting one’s oracle while facing up to what one is and what one experiences. Decisions, not deliberations, are the movers of deeds. One cannot know or plan the future. One must will it.

This is the occult mindset–the thinking behind the occultism of Carl Jung and Roberto Assagioli–the thinking that is derived from a source other than the Trinitarian God. Martinez continues:

Unlike the Christian worldview, the therapeutic starting point is that the individual must overcome personal unconscious forces, in Freud, and in Carl Jung the person must unite to the collective unconscious, which is shared by all humans.

In both cases, the therapist assists his client to change himself to ‘become his real self.’ Forgiveness and returning to God are not needed. What is needed are not God and His Forgiveness, but a therapist assisting a self to reach the fullness of its self.

Freud, under the influence of Nietzsche, moved psychiatry away from the mechanistic and biological to the previously “unscientific” model of the “symbolic language of the unconscious.”

Freud’s pupil Carl Jung took the symbolic language of the unconscious a step further.

Whether you call it the “collective unconscious” or the “Akashic Record,” and even if you seek knowledge by channeling a spirit, ultimately the ability to remake yourself (or renew yourself) is contained within you.

Martinez says that

Christian therapist Leanne Payne considers Jung “not a scientist, but a post-modernist subjectivist. Jung’s active imagination therapy is hostile not only to the Judeo-Christian worldview, but to all systems containing objective moral and spiritual value. Within this world the unconscious urge becomes god. What the unconscious urge wants is what is finally right or moral. These psychic personae [complexes] are literally called ‘gods’ (archtypes); and so an overt idolatry of self follows quickly.”

Within the modern French Nietzschean schools of thought, a type of Jungian unconscious urge is replacing the old existential conscious self who chooses. The post-modernist is moving from the idolatry of self to the idolatry of autonomous inner “beings” that, according to Payne, are similar to pagan “gods.”

Since Eden nothing has changed. The serpent still whispers; and like Eve, sometimes we listen. The conscience can be silenced so that the only voice we hear is the voice of our own sinfulness. This voice of sinfulness was let loose without brakes when psychology invaded religion. Martinez writes:

By using Christian symbols and terminology, Jungian spirituality has infiltrated to a large extent Christian publishers, seminaries, even convents and monasteries.

There is little doubt that it has infiltrated the parish renewal programs. Martines continues:

Many Christians are using Jung’s active imagination as a method of prayer. Psychiatrist Jeffrey Satinover, D.D., thinks this is dangerous “because this fantasy life has no moral underpinnings, because it helps to reinforce an experience of autonomous inner ‘beings’ accessible via the imagination, and because it is a defense against redemptive suffering, it easily allies with and quickly becomes a Gnostic form of spirituality with powerfully occult overtones.

The concept of self-actualization or “will to power” that has become commonplace in the retreats and renewal programs offered throughout Catholicdom are precisely the opposite in concept from Christ’s prayers in Gethsemene: “Lord not my will but thine be done.”


We all must choose whether we will be in control or whether we will surrender to the One who made us. This is the nature of free will which our Maker gave us. If we choose to reject Him, there are other powers to seek; and those powers are eager for our business. There is a reason why we are repeatedly warned in Scripture to leave occult powers alone. God knew the temptation to self-will would be hard to resist. His experience with His first creation, the angels, demonstrated it. Today as the Christian worldview fades into memory in many places, we are seeing it demonstrated in our day to day encounters, and we have seen it demonstrated in the Catholic priesthood with devastating results.

“Do not go to mediums or consult fortune-tellers, for you will be defiled by them. I, the Lord, am your God.” Lev. 19:31

“Let there not be found among you anyone who immolates his son or daughter in the fire, nor a fortune-teller, soothsayer, charmer, diviner, or caster of spells, nor one who consults ghosts and spirits or seeks oracles from the dead. Anyone who does such things is an abomination to the Lord, and because of such abominations the Lord, your God, is driving these nations out of your way.” Deut. 18:10-12

“For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Do not let your prophets who are in your midst and your diviners deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams which they dream. For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them.’ declares the Lord.” Jer. 29:8-9 [Incidentally, this passage has been eliminated from the NAB. I checked three different Bibles and it was not there. I had to turn to a Protestant New American Standard Bible to find it even though it is referenced in the CCC.]

“Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences.” 1 Tim. 4:1

“Beloved, do not trust every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they belong to God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can know the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges Jesus Christ come in the flesh belongs to God, and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus does not belong to God. This is the spirit of the antichrist that, as you heard, is to come, but in fact is already in the world.” 1 John 4:1-3

“I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come from the mouth of the dragon, from the mouth of the beast, and from the mouth of the false prophet. These were demonic spirits who performed signs. They went out to the kings of the whole world to assemble them for the battle on the great day of God the almighty.” Rev. 16:13-14

Father Glen Mullan is the Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in which I, Bishop Rene Henry Gracida, live. Some of the congregation took offense at his homily at his Masses yesterday, July 4, 2021 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time (B) – Independence Day. To understand why that happened you should know that Democrats are the majority of voters in Sinton and hence probably the majority of the people in the pews yesterday in the church listening to Father Mullan were registered Democrats. God bless Father Glen for his courage in preaching this homily. Let us pray that he does not receive a reprimand or worse from his bishop should some of the people who heard his homily yesterday write a letter of complaint to his Bishop. Below is the homily preached by Father Glen:
(Mk 6:1-6)

I am an immigrant who came to the United States as a young child with my family, who were leaving a country fraught with tremendous social and political problems. My parents desired a more stable and secure future for their children, and America was this land of opportunity, freedom, and stability. We all developed a great love and loyalty to this country, and became citizens after 7 years. In our new Texas home town, the 4th of July was a great city-wide festival, beginning with a parade in the morning, activities throughout the day at the city park, and of course fireworks at night.

But I’m very concerned how things have changed in the last 40 years: the horrible anti-Christian bias and attacks; the expulsion of religion from the public arena and education; the promotion – even celebration – of immorality (abortion, promiscuity, pornography, homosexuality); the destruction of the family based on lifelong marriage between a man and woman; the rise of huge global corporations which control every aspect of life (big tech, pharmaceutical, media, etc.); and the resultant corruption of the government establishment by special interests.

Things are very bad, and have taken another critical turn for the worse in the flagrant censorship being imposed on news and social media, something characteristic of communist dictatorships and fully opposed to the First Amendment right of free speech, which is the American way.

For instance, one serious and deadly example of this suppression of information is the Hydroxychloroquin (HCL) issue;1 a second is the origins of the Covid virus.2 Is this the land of the free? Is social media the medical expert?
Who is controlling what we are allowed to see or hear, or the way in which we must respond? Another important question before Americans today is what happened in the election of 2020. Was Donald Trump re-elected, as claimed by many “conspiracy theorists?”3 Why are people censored for even asking questions, or seeking answers? “Conspiracy theories” are very easily destroyed by facts; but are fueled when powers conspire to hide facts. Christians seek truth.

This is not the America my family became a part of in 1978, these are the kinds of problems one finds in third world and communist countries. What kind of country will our children and grandchildren be living in?

History teaches, and our founding fathers understood, that democracy is an extremely fragile thing. When setting forth the Constitution, the founding fathers built in several checks and balances to protect the integrity of democracy, and safeguard the government system from problems faced by so many others. These features have made the United States unique, and have contributed to its incredible success over the past 250 years. They are: Limited Government,4 Separation of Powers,5 Multi-party political system,6 and the Electoral College.7

There is one other extremely important and essential feature of the founding of the United States government, that has also contributed to its success. The founding fathers understood that “sin” is a fundamental problem in human nature, which no organizational system of government can overcome. No matter how “genius” the Constitution is, it will not survive if sin is not dealt with, because sin corrupts the human heart, and especially the hearts of the powerful.

Only one thing can deal with sin, and it is not government, but religion. And specifically, the Judeo-Christian religion of the Bible, which holds man accountable to the morality of the 10 Commandments: “You shall not kill, steal/cheat, lie/manipulate, and commit adultery/fornication. You shall honor your father and mother, and keep holy the Sabbath.”8

The United States was founded as a religious nation,9 “under God,” dependent upon religion among its citizenry to ensure the survival of the nation being set up. The United States enshrines basic “inalienable rights endowed by the Creator.”10

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other” (John Adams, Speech to the Military, 1798).

The incredible power of global corporate special interests has established a culture of corruption in Washington DC hard to resist, affecting all three branches of government and both political parties; the incredible capability of big tech and media have redefined how voting takes place and votes are “counted.” All the checks and balances have been surmounted, one thing remains.

The United States “grew up” with Christianity. It was religious conviction and religious principle that drove the Civil War.11 Yet now as a “mature” world power, the governing establishments (all of them: political, economic, technological, medical, educational, media) reject with contempt this Christian past, the Judeo-Christian heritage of the Bible, as it was developed through the Greco-Roman and European Western Civilization.

Are we now like the people of Nazareth, Christ’s “native place,” who grew up with him yet take offense and reject him as unwanted? Are we heading down the path of faithlessness that will lead to destruction, as it did for the generation in Jesus’ day? Will God’s blessings be withdrawn from this land which until now has experienced them in such abundance?

Jesus “was not able to perform any mighty deed there, he was amazed at their lack of faith” (Mk 6:5-6). As Catholic Americans, we must insist that Christ remain, and continue to establish his Gospel firmly in all aspects of this society. As Catholic Americans, we must be the first to hold and observe the 10 Commandments, and resist all efforts to undermine them. It starts with family; it starts with the bearing and education of children.

We are at the precipice of a new kind of civil war, for the heart and soul of our nation, to be fought not so much on a military battlefield as in the political and social arena. Will we have the courage and convictions of previous generations, to fight for and defend what is important?

May God bless our nation, and strengthen the Church to be in the forefront of this war that lies ahead.

What is the “Surest Way to Destroy America”?

Lawyer and author Scott Lively explains the USA “”HENHOUSE FULL OF FOXES”:
The surest way to destroy America’s world-blessing system of “ordered liberty” is to allow bad people to act with impunity. Impunity means exemption or immunity from punishment, harm, or loss. Impunity is doing whatever bad thing you want without suffering the consequences that would normally follow. It is “liberty” without order, which breeds anarchy, which produces social chaos, which has been the goal of every Marxist enemy we have ever faced from the time of Marxism’s emergence to today’s partnership of American Cultural Marxist elites with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). 
Another way to describe “ordered liberty” is “the rule of law,” but not just the ruled-law of man, since that can be (and has been) corrupted by bad actors in the legislative process, but the true “Law of Nature and Nature’s God” invoked by America’s founders in the Declaration of Independence. “Ordered liberty” is more accurately “the rule of the law of human society when it is aligned with the natural law of right and wrong, cause and effect, blessing and cursing.” 
Ordered liberty is God’s Holy Grail of true civilization.
Impunity-bred Anarchy is the Devil’s counterfeit that turns order into chaos: the Unholy Grail that promises sin without consequences. 
The seduction of “sin without consequences” always starts with sex since that is the easiest form of sin for humans to rationalize – a law of nature that Balaam taught to King Balak (Revelation 2:14) who then sent sexually corrupt Moabite women among the Hebrew men to create chaos in their social order (Numbers 25:1-3).
Sexual sin without consequences is the false promise of contraception on demand to normalize culture-wide fornication (Griswold v Connecticut, 1966), the back-up plan of abortion on demand ( Roe v Wade, 1973), the “No Fault” Divorce laws of the 70s that ended punishment for adultery, legalized sodomy (Lawrence v Texas, 2003), and finally the invention of “gay marriage,” that ended the ancient and essential primacy of natural-family norms which had always served as the “immune system” of society (Obergefell v Hodges, 2015). Today’s front line of cultural assault on our immunity-suppressed body-politic is transgenderism which moves beyond sexual conduct to destroy binary male/female human identity in preparation for transhumanism. The now-rapidly emerging transhumanism brings the end of God’s design for mankind and the rise of a new human-created “better” species made possible by technology. 
Once anarchy had defeated ordered liberty in sexual matters, the disruption of order in all the other social realms was made easier. An army of ideologues united by the new norms of sexual anarchy could abuse whatever power they held, wherever they operated – in academia, news media, social media, NGOs, law enforcement, the judiciary, the church, etc – to cooperate in allowing their agents and fellow-travelers to act with impunity. 
Their decades-long strategy came to fruition in 2020, whose seemingly distinct and separate forms of disaster and chaos were all just different heads of the same Hydra, defined by one common purpose – the removal of the Restrainer, President Donald Trump – and defined by one common method – the granting of immunity from consequences for all of their key co-conspirators. 
The most obvious example of this is the George Soros brigade of District Attorneys in deep-blue cities who refused to prosecute their BLM and Antifa allies in the streets who were being arrested for a months-long, hugely destructive campaign of rioting, looting and arson, while the co-conspirators in the media spun a narrative of “mostly-peaceful” protesters justifiably enraged by “out-of-control White Supremacy-driven police brutality.” News and social media suppressed all truthful dissent from that narrative, while co-conspirators in the government, academia, and NGOs formed a virtual human chain of solidarity to reinforce the false narrative and de-fund the police. The goal and end result was pervasive lawlessness without consequences that continues today. 
Who else was granted immunity from the consequences of unethical and/or criminal behavior in 2020? Big Tech’s outrageous censorship and misrepresentation of Trump and the MAGA movement was an abuse of their immunity under the now infamous “Section 230″ enacted during the Clinton administration. Big Media grossly abused their “free press” protection under the First Amendment. Big Pharma got immunity from liability for harms related to their “vaccine” development. Fauchi continually lied with impunity about Covid 19, its origins and masking efficacy, protected by the elites because the pandemic and the lockdowns hurt Trump.

This was the Evil One, all right.

As Monsignor Stephen Rossetti watched the man in front of him, he saw his blue eyes turn yellow and the pupils shrink down to mere dots. They looked, Rossetti said, precisely like the eyes of a hissing snake.

But the monsignor knew what it really was: The man’s altered appearance convinced him for a fact that the man was possessed by a demon.

Another time, a man’s entire eyes turned jet black, recalled Rossetti. “This doesn’t usually happen but when it does, it is very startling — it is obviously demonic,” he said.

Battling demonic forces is regular duty for Msgr Rossetti, a Catholic priest who worked in two parishes in the Diocese of Syracuse for five years. Now based in the Washington, DC, diocese, he and his team perform up to 20 exorcisms each week, liberating people — and homes — from what he calls “demons and satanic evil.”

And, the 70-year-old told The Post, exorcisms have “grown exponentially” in the past decade or so. “I think this is going to get much worse before it gets better,” he said.

A licensed psychologist and research associate professor at the Catholic University of America, Rossetti tells of his 13 years of evil experiences in the new book “Diary of an American Exorcist. Demons, Possession, and the Modern-Day Battle Against Ancient Evil” (Sophia Institute Press).

In it, Rossetti alleges he’s seen demons at work: doors banging, TVs turning on and off spontaneously, dogs howling uncontrollably, victims communicating in ancient languages they never learned — even spewing foreign objects like nuts and bolts. 

“There are stunning things that happen that are not humanly possible,” he said.

The monsignor, who is also the president and founder of the St. Michael Center For Spiritual Renewal, a nonprofit Catholic organization that oversees the exorcism sessions around the DC area, said he has not yet witnessed any victims levitate or spin their head like in the movies “The Exorcist” or the new “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.”

But, he firmly believes, he has regularly witnessed diabolical evil.Recalling one exorcism, Rossetti writes of demons manifesting themselves as he began to pray. “They were wagging [the possessed woman’s] finger at me and shaking [her] head,” he recalled. “I had been commanding the demons to leave and the response was pretty clear: ‘No!’ ”

The monsignor moved closer and made direct eye contact with the woman. Holding a crucifix six inches from her face, he cried out: “Ecce crucem Domino: fugite partes adversae” — Latin for “Behold the Cross of the Lord: take flight, you hostile powers.”

As he sprinkled the woman with holy water, her body began to spasm.

“In an exorcism, the demons are engulfed in a holy torture that we believe is worse than the fires of hell,” writes Rossetti. “They were writhing in pain.”

Sometimes, the demons cause him physical anguish. Rossetti recalls in his book a case in which he started the prayers of liberation for a mild demonic possession of a middle-aged man. 

“My stomach became instantly nauseated, and the ill feeling quickly spread to my head and the rest of my body,” the monsignor recalled of the demon’s attack on him. “My whole being felt spiritually pummeled throughout the session.”

And then there was the young  woman who reached out to him after an upside-down cross appeared “burned” into her shoulder. At the same time, her dad was receiving “snarky” text messages from demons. “The texts were a typical demonic rant: ‘She belongs to us,’ ” Rossetti said.

Rossetti said the messages appeared to come from the phone number of the woman. Upon careful investigation, however, Rossetti insisted there was no evidence of her having sent the messages.

“By the way, several exorcists have had the same experience, getting texts from demons, and why not?” Rossetti said. “In the past they messed with electronics — TVs and lights turning off and on by themselves. Now they mess with cellphones.”

The woman had more to worry about than texts from hell, though.

“As a child, the father dedicated her to Satan,” Rossetti said. “If someone is perverted enough to join a satanic cult to begin with, then it’s not a stretch to imagine them offering their children to their ‘god.’ ”

As the young woman grew up, she found her way to the Catholic faith in search of comfort and solace. “The demons did not like that,” he said. “And they claimed her by burning that cross in her shoulder. So the spiritual battle began.”

Then, he says, followed an epic, six-month battle with Satan. Rossetti and his team — including, on occasions, another priest and several faithful Catholics for support — engaged in holy war to liberate the distraught woman.

At each session, Rossetti would recite: “I claim you for Christ Our Savior by the sign of the Cross.” The woman would respond, “I belong to Jesus.” And each time, it was the same bloodcurdling result. “Satan would burn a cross into her [skin] many times until finally he was cast out,” Rossetti recalled. (The crucifixes would disappear after every instance.)

“Thankfully, this woman has been recently liberated by the power of Christ,” said Rossetti. “It was an ugly fight, and I don’t want to go through it again.”

Rossetti was appointed a diocesan exorcist by his bishop in Washington. By his telling, “the Blessed Virgin picked me” for the job. He trained in Rome and in the US under a senior exorcist, and has been involved in many hundreds of exorcisms since 1999.

At each one, often conducted in a private space at a church, he wears his clerical clothes with a purple stole — an ancient Church symbol of authority — over his shoulders.

“The demons hate the stole and keep telling me to take it off, which I don’t,” Rossetti said. He also brandishes a Benedictine crucifix emblazoned with an “exorcistic formula” in Latin, “Vade Retro Satana,” on the back, Translation: “Get Behind Me, Satan.”

Holy water is essential. “We use a large bottle and spritz with it,” Rossetti said, adding that the possessed often vomit white foam when the water touches them.

As for his brethren’s opinion, New York Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan blurbed the book: “Enlightening and timely!”

The monsignor admitted that many who think they are “possessed” or “oppressed” by demons are, in fact, suffering mental illness. But he’s seen enough to believe.

As a young seminarian at college, Rossetti had his own brush with evil as he was about to fall asleep one night. Suddenly he experienced an “unbelievable force. I felt quickly being overwhelmed but no physical manifestation.” Rossetti concluded it was only one thing — a “demonic attack.” He leapt out of bed and lunged for his rosaries. “The moment I touched my rosary beads, this attack stopped.”

And Rossetti has advice for keeping the demons away: “I tell people, put crucifixes in your home, holy water in a font at home, religious statues around the house, and say your rosary.

Today, we celebrate the 4th of July, our “Independence Day” because we value freedom. We understand the importance of freedom. 
Freedom was the heart of our founders’ vision for America.Freedom is the natural condition of human beings.Freedom is celebrated today because historically, freedom has been a very rare state of existence for human beings.The most pervasive state of human existence, hegemony, was celebrated three days ago.
On July 1st, the Chinese Communist Party celebrated its 100th year ruling China, and many in America’s left-leaning media celebrated this milestone. CNN tweeted, “The Chinese Communist Party is about to turn 100 but Xi will be the real star.” CNN’s Ben Westcott wrote that this “is an opportunity for the party to reaffirm its credentials while ensuring loyalty.” And that the “party has much to celebrate, particularly China’s growth from one of the poorest nations in the world into an economy on the brink of overtaking the US.”
Yesterday, a New York Times columnist wrote this about our nation’s birthday, “Today, flying the flag from the back of a pickup truck or over a lawn is increasingly seen as a clue… to a person’s political affiliation in a deeply divided nation… What was once a unifying symbol is now alienating to some, its stripes now fault lines between people who kneel while “The Star-Spangled Banner” plays and those for whom not pledging allegiance is an affront.”
There is a stark contrast between the way left-wing media views America and its history, and communist countries. The same people who continually remind America of its past sins, gloss over the more brutal, more recent atrocities of the Chinese Communists. On July 1, there was barely a mention of Mao’s Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution which killed over 45 million citizens, or the present-day Chinese concentration camps where over 1 million Uyghurs are being tortured, raped, and murdered. 
But today, America, while celebrating its independence, will be continually reminded by our media that we must come to terms with the sins in our past without a historical context. Prior to 1776, freedom was practically non-existent. Only the elite, the wealthiest enjoyed the freedom that our founders wanted to bestow onto the common citizen. The idea of guaranteeing freedom to all citizens was such radical an idea that 245 years later many countries throughout the world still have yet to embrace it.
The United States was truly an experiment, so it is as understandable as much as it is regrettable that mistakes, many serious, were committed along the way. The idea of America was so forward-thinking that it was almost inevitable that those who brought us this vision would not fully understand the meaning and be able to manifest all of what they were attempting. They were limited by their narrow perspectives, their view of history, and their own humanity – limits that constrain all of our intellects from time to time. So, it is easy to judge them with the luxury of 245 years of hindsight, and through the very lens of freedom that those we are judging brought to the world. 
Scarily, the uncompromising judgment of our country’s past sins has opened the door for elements of Mao’s cultural revolution to infest America and try to change America. Anti-American factions are tearing down statues, erasing history, attacking religion, indoctrinating our children, attempting to impose a political hegemony that is found in communist countries like China. 
Many politicians today, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, AOC embrace this because they still do not believe in our founding vision. They continue to try to lure us away from liberty to socialist rule with the promise of a government-produced utopia in exchange for our freedom. People are tempted by these promises because freedom is scary, freedom is hard. As we saw after 9-11 and with the pandemic, under certain conditions people will easily trade their liberty for security. But as Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Freedom is not simply a fundamental right; it is the fundamental right. It is the right from which all other rights flow. Freedom is fundamentally American.
But our current leaders don’t even know what it means to be an American. Joe Biden recently said, “I defy you to tell me what constitutes an American. You can’t do it.” I guess when you don’t believe in defined borders, you can’t define America, much less an American. 
Joe, an American is an American citizen, any person who was born to United States citizens, or any legal immigrant who went through the legal process to become a naturalized citizen. 
But Joe Biden believes that anyone who happens to cross our border, violating our immigration laws and compromising our sovereignty is an American and should be handed citizenship. That is how much he values American citizenship. Gaining United States citizenship should be hard. It should be earned. The more you work for something, the more you sacrifice for something, the more valuable it is to you. If something is handed to you for free, it is not treated with the value and respect it deserves. United States citizenship is the most valuable and significant citizenship on the face of the earth, but our leaders are not treating it that way, and in the end, they will devalue it and all it stands for.
So, is the freedom that we are celebrating today a mirage? A façade? A figment of our patriotic imagination? The echo of a vision of a country that no longer exists? Is America and the American ideal that we are celebrating like the light that we see in the night sky from a star so distant that it has died out millions of years ago? Is the American dream of freedom and equality that we all so cherish still alive or has it been crushed under the weight of partisan quest for power? 
No matter how much people, even citizens of this country, want to destroy America, we can never let anyone extinguish the flame of freedom that defines America because if we lose our freedom, we cede our humanity.

(link)    The appeal (picture of the text in Italian below, as well as the full text in English) came in the form of a Sunday, July 4 advertisement/open letter in one of Italy’s leading daily newspapers, La Repubblica, which prints more than 150,000 copies each day (link).        The essential point of this appeal is contained in this sentence:    ”The growth of interest in the traditional liturgy is not due to nostalgia for a time we do not remember, or a desire for rigidity: it is rather a matter of opening ourselves to the value of something that for most of us is new, and inspires hope.”    So the appeal asks Francis not to restrict the use of the old liturgy.    Francis, adoration of God, and the old liturgy    Today’s appeal notes that Pope Francis himself “has characterised the ancient liturgy in terms of a ‘sense of adoration’ (Press conference of 28 July 2013).”    So it seems important to go back and look at this press conference, to understand the mind of Francis.    Here is the question and answer from that 2013 press conference of Pope Francis on the airplane coming back from World Youth Day in Brazil that July (Press conference of 28 July 2013):    ***    Alexey Bukalov (asking Francis a question on July 28, 2013):    Good evening, Holy Father. Holy Father, returning to ecumenism: today, the Orthodox are celebrating one thousand and twenty-five years of Christianity, and there are great festivities in many capital cities. If you would comment on this, I would be grateful. Thank you.    Pope Francis: In the Orthodox Churches, they have retained that pristine liturgy, which is so beautiful. We have lost some of the sense of adoration. The Orthodox preserved it; they praise God, they adore God, they sing, time does not matter. God is at the centre, and I would like to say, as you ask me this question, that this is a richness. Once, speaking of the Western Church, of Western Europe, especially the older Church, they said this phrase to me: Lux ex oriente, ex occidente luxus[“Light from the East, from the West, luxury”] Consumerism, comfort, they have done such harm. Instead, you retain this beauty of God in the centre, the reference point. When reading Dostoevsky – I believe that for all of us he is an author that we must read and reread due to his wisdom – one senses what the Russian soul is, what the eastern soul is. But many times the luxus of the West makes us lose this horizon. I don’t know, but these are the thoughts that come to me. Thank you.    ***    So what do we have here?    Francis here says the Orthodox have “retained that pristine liturgy, which is so beautiful.”    And he adds: “We have lost some of the sense of adoration. The Orthodox preserved it; they praise God, they adore God, they sing, time does not matter. God is at the centre…”    And he also adds: “Once, speaking of the Western Church, of Western Europe, especially the older Church, they said this phrase to me: Lux ex oriente, ex occidente luxus[“Light from the East, from the West, luxury”]Consumerism, comfort, they have done such harm. Instead, you [he means “you Orthodox”] retain this beauty of God in the centre…”    And he also says: “We need this renewal, this fresh air from the East, this light from the East.”    Here we find in the words of Francis himself something very similar to the longing expressed by the traditional Catholics who love the austere solemnity, the mysticism, the holiness, of the old Catholic liturgy.    In appealing to Pope Francis not to cut off access to the old liturgy, they are appealing to this aspect of Pope Francis’ own thought.    ***    Therefore, the appeal argues, Catholics may apply Francis’ words to their wish to be free to celebrate the Mass in the old way — not as something archeological or out of a museum, but as part of a “living history that welcomes us and pushes us forward” (Evangelii Gaudium 13).    ***    In other words, the authors of this appeal, who are admittedly lovers of the old Catholic liturgy, are attempting to set their love of the liturgy in a timeless context, as a result of the innate human desire for the holyfor the transcendent, and not in any way in a context of cultural or political “restorationism.”    No.    In a mystical context, not in a monarchical — or any other socio-political — context.    ***    Clearly, this is an attempt to change the terms of the debate, terms which have been unfairly forced upon “traditionalists” by many of their “modernist” critics.    Catholics who love tradition, especially in the liturgical realm, do not love tradition in the way the modernists claim they doUna Voce is saying.    No, they do not love the old Mass out of a kind of “sclerotic, fearful grasping for the stuffy securities of the past” in a time of change, but rather because, in this very time, in the 2020s, the old ways and old words of the traditional liturgy have somehow begun to seem “newer” than the words of the 1960s.    This is a critical point.    In fact, it is the decisive point.    What this appeal is really saying is that the old Mass, in its venerable antiquity, rooted in prayers and hymns from the very first centuries of the Church, actually seems “newer,” “fresher,” “more alive” than many of the prayers of the “new Mass,” which, 50 or 60 years later, because rooted in the trendy, time-bound certainties of that age, is starting to seem “old.”    ***    And, in fact, in this way, it is precisely in keeping with the oft-repeated words of Pope Francis himself, with what he wants the Christian faith and the Christian life to be for all people: something fresh and alive and unpredictable and filled with love for God and neighbor, not something small and narrow and rigid and ideological.    The Catholic Church, the bride of Christ, is ever ancient, ever new.    She is not the product of one decade of excitement and enthusiasm from the mid-20th century. —RM    =================    Points Concerning the Old “Tridentine” Mass    Ancient missals show that the Latin Mass Canon remained essentially the same from very early, at least from the time of Pope Gregory the Great (560-604), who also promoted Gregorian chant, which took his name. That amounts to almost 1,500 years.     This “old Mass” was codified at the end of the Council of Trent (1545-1563) by Pope Pius V (1504-1572) in 1570 — now nearly 500 years ago — and so became known as “the Tridentine Mass” due to its connection with Trent (“Trent” in Latin is “Tridentum,” link).    The old Latin or Tridentine Mass has never been abrogated, but it was set to one side by Pope Paul VI in 1970, who replaced it with the “Novus Ordo” (“new order”) Mass in that year, and this “Mass of Paul VI” has now become the the “ordinary Mass” for the entire Church, while the old Mass has come to be called the “extraordinary form” of the Mass.    Because the old Mass was celebrated for so many (many) centuries, it seems to me (and I find this view expressed in many of the writing of Pope Benedict XVI) that Catholics ought never to regard the celebration of the old Mass as in any way theologically wrong or improper, but rather should always look on the old liturgy as good, as venerable, as holy, as worthy of profound respect.    Hence the sadness of many Catholics at the attitude which seeks to denigrate and repress the celebration of the venerable and holy old Mass.    And hence the concern about the rumors concerning an imminent restriction in the freedom granted to Catholic priests to celebrate Mass according to this holy and venerable liturgy. —RM            Here is the complete text of today’s Una Voce appeal:        JULY 4, 2021     BY UNA VOCE SCOTLAND    Statement from Una Voce International on Summorum Pontificum (link)    In recent months there have been may rumours about the status of Summorum Pontificum in the Church.     The work of the International Federation Una Voce in collaboration with the proper eccelesial authorities led to Pope Benedict’s document [in 2007] which opened up the Extraordinary Form of the Mass for the whole Church.    Continuing in our role of representing the faithful attached to the Usus Antiquior [the Latin means “the more ancient use” or “the more ancient rite”] to the hierarchy, FIUV have produced the following statement in response to the rumours that have been circulating.Living the faith, living the future:The Extraordinary Form of the Roman RiteDeclaration of the International Federation Una Voce    The International Federation Una Voce (FIUV), founded in 1965, brings together associations of the lay faithful attached to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman rite (the Traditional Latin Mass).    In 2007, the Apostolic Letter Summorum Pontificum recognised the vitality of the traditional liturgy, the freedom of priests to celebrate it, and of the faithful to request it. This has led to an ongoing increase in the number of celebrations of the ancient Latin Mass, and of its spiritual fruits.    During 2020 the FIUV conducted a worldwide survey of the faithful on the implementation of Summorum Pontificum.     From this survey, which included results from 364 dioceses in 52 countries, we found:    •    The ancient Latin Mass is deeply appreciated by groups of faithful of all ages, especially families with children, young people and converts, found in all social and cultural environments, on all continents and in an ever increasing number of countries.    • In many areas the increased availability of this Mass has favoured the normalisation of relations between the faithful attached to it and their bishops, relations increasingly characterised by mutual understanding and respect.    Nevertheless, we have noticed that, contrary to the previous policy of the Holy See, there are still people within the Church, including some bishops, who would like to see the Extraordinary Form of the Roman rite explicitly suppressed, or subject to further restrictions.     For this reason, the FIUV, in view of the faithful who adhere to the Latin Mass, feels the duty to express its opinion, encouraged by Pope Francis’ exhortations to the members of the Church to use parrhesia with the necessary humility.    The growth of interest in the traditional liturgy is not due to nostalgia for a time we do not remember, or a desire for rigidity: it is rather a matter of opening ourselves to the value of something that for most of us is new, and inspires hope.     Pope Francis has characterised the ancient liturgy in terms of a “sense of adoration” (Press conference of 28 July 2013), we can also apply his words to it: a “living history that welcomes us and pushes us forward” (Evangelii Gaudium 13).    Today we only wish to be part of that “great orchestra” of “unity in variety” which, as Pope Francis said (General Audience of 9 October 2013), celebrated in Rome, should be defined and preserved. He greatly encouraged those monks and nuns who, following the Rule of Saint Benedict, everywhere proclaimed the Gospel and illustrated by their lives the salutary provision of the Rule that “nothing is to be preferred to the work of God.” In this way the sacred liturgy, celebrated according to the Roman usage, enriched the faith and piety, as well as the culture, of numerous peoples. It is well known that in every century of the Christian era the Church’s Latin liturgy in its various forms has inspired countless saints in their spiritual life, confirmed many peoples in the virtue of religion and enriched their devotion.    In the course of the centuries, many other Roman Pontiffs took particular care that the sacred liturgy should accomplish this task more effectively. Outstanding among them was Saint Pius V, who in response to the desire expressed by the Council of Trent, renewed with great pastoral zeal the Church’s entire worship, saw to the publication of liturgical books corrected and “restored in accordance with the norm of the Fathers,” and provided them for the use of the Latin Church.    Among the liturgical VIII, Saint Pius X [3], Benedict XV, Pius XII and Blessed John XXIII.    In more recent times, the Second Vatican Council expressed the desire that the respect and reverence due to divine worship should be renewed and adapted to the needs of our time. In response to this desire, our predecessor Pope Paul VI in 1970 approved for the Latin Church revised and in part renewed liturgical books; translated into various languages throughout the world, these were willingly received by the bishops as well as by priests and the lay faithful. Pope John Paul II approved the third typical edition of the Roman Missal. In this way the Popes sought to ensure that “this liturgical edifice, so to speak … reappears in new splendour in its dignity and harmony.” [4]    In some regions, however, not a few of the faithful continued to be attached with such love and affection to the earlier liturgical forms which had deeply shaped their culture and spirit, that in 1984 Pope John Paul II, concerned for their pastoral care, through the special Indult Quattuor Abhinc Annos issued by the Congregation for Divine Worship, granted the faculty of using the Roman Missal published in 1962 by Blessed John XXIII. Again in 1988, John Paul II, with the Motu Proprio Ecclesia Dei, exhorted bishops to make broad and generous use of this faculty on behalf of all the faithful who sought it.    Given the continued requests of these members of the faithful, long deliberated upon by our predecessor John Paul II, and having listened to the views expressed by the Cardinals present at the Consistory of 23 March 2006, upon mature consideration, having invoked the Holy Spirit and with trust in God’s help, by this Apostolic Letter we decree the following:    Art 1. The Roman Missal promulgated by Pope Paul VI is the ordinary expression of the lex orandi (rule of prayer) of the Catholic Church of the Latin rite. The Roman Missal promulgated by Saint Pius V and revised by Blessed John XXIII is nonetheless to be considered an extraordinary expression of the same lex orandi of the Church and duly honoured for its venerable and ancient usage. These two expressions of the Church’s lex orandi will in no way lead to a division in the Church’s lex credendi (rule of faith); for they are two usages of the one Roman rite.    It is therefore permitted to celebrate the Sacrifice of the Mass following the typical edition of the Roman Missal, which was promulgated by Blessed John XXIII in 1962 and never abrogated, as an extraordinary form of the Church’s Liturgy. The conditions for the use of this Missal laid down by the previous documents Quattuor Abhinc Annos and Ecclesia Dei are now replaced as follows:    Art. 2. In Masses celebrated without a congregation, any Catholic priest of the Latin rite, whether secular or regular, may use either the Roman Missal published in 1962 by Blessed Pope John XXIII or the Roman Missal promulgated in 1970 by Pope Paul VI, and may do so on any day, with the exception of the Easter Triduum. For such a celebration with either Missal, the priest needs no permission from the Apostolic See or from his own Ordinary.    Art. 3. If communities of Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, whether of pontifical or diocesan right, wish to celebrate the conventual or community Mass in their own oratories according to the 1962 edition of the Roman Missal, they are permitted to do so. If an individual community or an entire Institute or Society wishes to have such celebrations frequently, habitually or permanently, the matter is to be decided by the Major Superiors according to the norm of law and their particular laws and statutes.    Art. 4. The celebrations of Holy Mass mentioned above in Art. 2 may be attended also by members of the lay faithful who spontaneously request to do so, with respect for the requirements of law.    Art. 5, §1 In parishes where a group of the faithful attached to the previous liturgical tradition stably exists, the parish priest should willingly accede to their requests to celebrate Holy Mass according to the rite of the 1962 Roman Missal. He should ensure that the good of these members of the faithful is harmonized with the ordinary pastoral care of the parish, under the governance of the bishop in accordance with Canon 392, avoiding discord and favouring the unity of the whole Church.    §2 Celebration according to the Missal of Blessed John XXIII can take place on weekdays; When it comes to America,Joe Biden gets it wrong

Recently, during a naturalization ceremony, Joe Biden stated a very troubling idea. He said that America is founded on an idea — an idea, moreover, that we’ve invariably failed to live up to. 
As is so often the case with Biden, he’s wrong.
America is not about “an idea.” America is about an enduring truth. This truth is the basis of our Rule of Law, and our Rule of Law, in turn, is the foundation of our social order.
Biden made it clear that he was talking about the statement in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal. The problem is that America is not about an idea, and all men are not created equal if equal means, as Biden seems to believe, sameness.
What Thomas Jefferson meant by the phrase “all men are created equal” is that no person is of noble birth. Article I, Sections 9 and 10 forbid the federal government or any state government from granting titles of nobility.
When it comes to our United States Constitution, equality involves due process under the Rule of Law. Each person is equally due a certain established process relative to government power, and if people are entitled to certain rights and privileges, we all possess them equally. Equality and equity in the context of one’s relationship to government are best understood as a type of fairness of procedure. There is no such thing as equal outcome.
What, then, if not an idea is America about? The Founders knew the answer to that.
America is about an enduring truth. 
That truth, that self-evident actuality, is that there is a Creator or God from whom our natural rights derive, and to whom human beings owe a duty. This is the starting point for our Rule of Law along with the understanding that human nature, if left to its own devices, tends toward the negative.
One of the purposes of the Rule of Law, then, is to dampen the negative and inspire the positive in human nature. Unless ideas or notions are connected to a universal truth, they can be very dangerous to individuals and to whole societies. The following is the truth of which Jefferson speaks that represents the starting point for American society:
We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, – That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.
What Joe Biden might have said is that America is founded on the existence of a Creator, or God, and that God endows all Americans, equally, with the rights to Life and to the Liberty to pursue their own happiness within the Rule of Law. It’s important to understand that America’s founding is predicated on a truth and not an idea is that truth provides a boundary for ideas. Otherwise, anyone can simply create a theory based on an idea, however unrelated to the reality of human nature, and, if implemented as governance, can wreak havoc on the people governed.
Our Rule of Law is tethered to the truth that God exists, and this tethering provides the needed “check” on what constitutes the Rule of Law and what constitutes the duty individuals have to their Creator. It also helps create a stable social order. The French took American notions of Liberty and Equality but left out God, and all hell broke loose in the French Revolution, with Napoleon emerging as dictator and Emperor. The bloodbath was hideous.
Marx and Engels drew on the ideas of Johann Fichte that the dialectic (discourse) consists of a thesis, antithesis, and synthesis, in the context of class struggle. The various versions of Marxism since the mid-19th century and their translation into governance have led to millions and millions of deaths worldwide. Because these ideas are not tethered to the universal truth in the existence of God, the nature of human beings carries individuals away into the swamp of the debauched and the murderous. Substitute race for class in America today and the behaviors in some circles associated with that acceptance of Marxist atheism and you may come to understand the chaos that has resulted.
Think of our Rule of Law as a small boat tied to a dock. The boat is anchored so that it cannot just float away into the currents. The rope that attaches it to the dock becomes an integral part of the vessel itself, preventing its own destruction and injury to others. The Rule of Law in America (the boat) is tethered by duty (the rope) to a Creator (the dock).
Or, think of it this way: God comes first; the duty to obey comes second (the Ten Commandments of Judaism and the Two Commandments of Christianity); and our Rule of Law comes third. 
Of what does the Rule of Law consist? There are four elements:

  • Moral Law – what is right and what is wrong (based on the above Commandments).
  • Natural Law – unalienable (cannot be separated from the person) rights from God to Life and Liberty.
  • Positive Law – statutes, rules, and Constitutions created by governing bodies and citizens.
  • Unwritten Law – that which guides our relationships with each other – the courteous and kindly.

For those whose lives are individually untethered, who float helplessly in the currents of their passions, our social order provides not only a tolerance for this predicament but a stability over time that people may count on should they want to climb out of the swamp they created for themselves. This is such a unique society in that regard, and such a precious social order for developing the individual, that its loss would be devastating to all humanity.
America does not need to be transformed, America needs to embrace and protect what she is, and distance herself from those ideas that have shown themselves, over time, to be nothing but invitations to slaughter and horror. In other words, invitations for human beings to be at their worst. That’s why it is so wrong to the nation and American citizens that we do not teach these basics in our schools.

How Democrats Are Fleeing Principles of the Declaration of Independence

In the late spring of 1776, Thomas Jefferson was asked by the Continental Congress to produce a draft of what would become the Declaration of Independence. I believe the Declaration is not only the most important document in the English language. It is the most important document in world history.
Let me begin at the beginning. “When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s god entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”
And then the famous words. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. — that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their safety and happiness.”
For the first time in history, Mr. Jefferson lays out the principle of the laws of nature and nature’s god. Independence is a natural right. That came from the revolutionary writer Thomas Paine. Then according to Jefferson the true revolutionary governing pecking order goes like this: First, the creator; second, the creator gives that power to the people; and third, it is the people who give the power to the government. That is, “the consent of the governed.”
President Biden however, has a different pecking order. As he said to a joint meeting of Congress, “It’s time we remember that we the people are the government, you and I.” That is completely counter to what the Founders believed.
The principal grievances of the revolutionary Founders against the despotism of George III were obstructing the rule of law and the administration of justice, cutting off trade with all parts of the world, imposing taxes on us without our consent, depriving us of the benefits of trial by jury, suspending our legislatures, preventing immigration, plundering our seas, ravaging our coasts, burning our towns, and destroying the lives of our people.
“Our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people…”
So the Congress assembled and, the Declaration noted, “appealing to the supreme judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly publish and declare, that these united colonies are and of right ought to be free and independent states; that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British crown, and that all political connection between them and the state of great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as free and independent states, they have full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do.”
And then again, the famous words: “And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.”
To this let me add some words on the influence of Adam smith, the economic rock star of the times. He influenced the founders, particularly Benjamin Franklin, who met him, but also Jefferson and Adams and many others. Smith was the founder of free market economics.
It was no coincidence that his book, The Wealth of Nations, was published earlier in 1776 and argued for free markets, free enterprise, and individual initiative. He insisted on the rule of law and in his earlier work, The Theory of Moral Sentiments, which was published in 1759, Smith essentially argued that his free market philosophy required people who were good citizens abiding by the law and behaving with strong character.
Smith wanted an economic system of minimal government restrictions. Be it trade, taxes, or commerce. This became the American idea. This is what the Founders established — for all to copy in future generations. This idea of minimalist government owing its power directly to consent of the people has been the American economic system for 250 years.
Even with glitches from time to time, it has made America the most prosperous nation in history. As historian J.G. Vassallo put it in an article about 20 years ago, “Adam Smith’s ideas were every bit as astounding as Jefferson’s. Because, while Jefferson believed that men were not made to live under tyranny, Smith declared that men were not made to live in poverty.”
Unfortunately, President Biden has departed from the Founders’ vision. Mr. Biden wants an economic system completely regulated by the state. Rather than individual initiative and enterprise he seeks entitlement and welfare. Rather than rewarding the climb to success, he seeks redistribution and equity.
Rather than Adam Smith’s vision of free markets that are blind to color, race, or sex, Mr. Biden has embraced the far-left, progressive idea of critical race theory, which ultimately would tear down our economic system and our country. In contrast to critical race theory, by the way, there is substantial evidence that the Declaration unleashed a massive wave of slavery abolition throughout Britain and the Continent.
Then there is taxing authority, in some sense the trigger for the American revolution that exploded in the Boston Tea Party against taxation without representation. Mr. Biden is surrendering American tax sovereignty to multilateral groups like the Group of Seven and Group of 20.
There is no Trumpian America First here. This surrender of sovereignty also includes the Paris climate accords that would strengthen our enemies and Russia, China, and Iran, rather than protect our workforce and prosperity here at home.
So this is a time to cherish the revolutionary principles of our Founders. We are opposed to Mr. Biden’s sprint in the opposite direction. We’re fighting for free enterprise and freedom and democracy. Not statism or authoritarianism or worse. 
The Founders had it right. Our job is to work tirelessly to bring their revolutionary principles back into the mainstream. Because that’s what will make America work.

Joe Biden’s Priest Will Give Him Communion Despite His Abortion Advocacy, Claims “He’s a Man of Faith”

Father Kevin Gillespie of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown confirmed today that he will give Communion to President Joe Biden despite his unrepentant, radical abortion advocacy.

Gillespie told America Magazine that Biden attends Holy Trinity sometimes when he is in Washington, D.C., and he is “a man of faith.”

“Everyone is welcome,” the priest said. “He’s a man of faith, and I would give Communion to him like any other Catholic coming up for the Eucharist.”

Earlier this week, Holy Trinity issued a statement saying its priests will not deny the sacrament to Biden or anyone else who professes to be Catholic.

Gillespie said he helped craft the statement in response to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ decision to draft a teaching document on the Eucharist that could rebuke pro-abortion politicians like Biden.

While Gillespie said he supports the idea of a new teaching document on the Eucharist, he agrees with Cardinal Wilton Gregory, the archbishop of Washington, D.C., that the matter has become too politicized and the bishops should have delayed action.

“The archbishop of a diocese has the authority on issues around politicians and the Eucharist, and [Cardinal Gregory] has made it public that this is where he stands pastorally,” he told the magazine. “He doesn’t agree with everything the president says around abortion, nor do I, but pastorally, this is his approach. The archbishop and I have spoken about that, and I’m in full agreement with him.”

Gillespie described Biden as devout and reverent in his interview with the magazine, and he did not hesitate to confirm that he would give Communion to the unrepentant pro-abortion politician.

According to the report:

Father Gillespie said he has seen Mr. Biden’s reverence for the Eucharist up close. He said the president regularly genuflects toward the tabernacle before entering the pew and that he even stayed behind after Mass a couple of months ago to congratulate a young boy who had just made his first Communion. …

Asked whether he would give Communion to Mr. Biden should he approach the altar at Holy Trinity, Father Gillespie responded, “Yes.”

The priest also accused some Catholic leaders of “weaponizing” the Eucharist and “making it difficult” to minister to people.

But many other bishops have expressed concerns that Biden’s claims about being a devout Catholic coupled with his radical abortion advocacy are misleading Catholics and “creating scandal” for the faith by encouraging evil. They have said the church must do something to make it clear that Catholics cannot support the killing of unborn babies and must repent before participating in Communion.

In a pastoral letter in May, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone said denying Communion may be “the only recourse a pastor has left” when pro-abortion Catholics refuse to repent and turn away from evil.

“When other avenues are exhausted, the only recourse a pastor has left is the public medicine of temporary exclusion from the Lord’s Table,” Cordileone wrote. “This is a bitter medicine, but the gravity of the evil of abortion can sometimes warrant it.”

The bishops have made it clear that the issue is about faith and their concern for people’s souls, and they are not targeting any political party or politician.

Though Biden professes to be a devout Catholic, he openly defies church teachings about the sanctity of human life. After just 100 days in office, he already surpassed President Barack Obama as the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history.

Recently, his administration stopped enforcing safety regulations that protect mothers and unborn babies from dangerous abortion drugs. Now abortion drugs are being sold by mail without a woman ever having to see a doctor in person.

Biden’s 2021 budget plan would expand abortions by eliminating the Hyde Amendment for the first time in more than 40 years. Without the amendment, Americans would be forced to directly fund the killing of unborn babies in abortions through Medicaid and other federal programs. The amendment has saved about 2.4 million unborn babies from abortion, according to the Charlotte Lozier Institute.

Why call wokeism a new religion?.. What’s so nefarious about Wokeism is that it regularly plays on people’s better motivations such as compassion and a desire for justice. Most people have a genuine desire to see the lives of others improve, and many Christians have engaged with these ideas as if they are congruent with the teachings of Christ. Of course, there are disparities in our society where justice is needed. Still, the point is that Wokeism has different interpretations for the concepts of truth, justice and equity and leaves no room in the conversation for alternative ways of addressing those issues. Wokeism is incompatible with the biblical worldview, differing in several key ways. Dr. Marie Robinson’s “The Power of Sexual Surrender” shows that the feminist ideology was the first Wokeism and the first transsexualism. Women in this ideology were to become trans men. 

The war against female identity began with “feminist mothers” reaction to the “so-called Industrial Revolution,” which attacked the Christian family and home:

It began toward the end of the eighteenth century, and the apparently innocent event that started it all was the invention of the steam engine by Watt—the great invention that ushered in the modern age. It seems hard to believe now that this almost outdated means of creating power could have been so important, but it was. It launched the so-called Industrial Revolution, which was to change the whole fabric of society, our ways of doing things and making things, our living quarters and our living standards, our morals, religion, art; name it and you will find that the Industrial Revolution has turned it upside down and inside out.

Most of all, and most tragically, it changed the home. It would be more accurate, if somewhat bleaker, to say that it destroyed the home, at least as home was known up to that time.

But let me tell you what home was like before the Industrial Revolution, for when you see that you will begin to discern the outlines of the great tragedy that happened to woman when the old-fashioned family home ceased to exist.

In that era our society was almost entirely rural and agricultural. In other words, most homes were farms. There were cities and some industry, of course, but where industries existed they were almost entirely home industries run by individual families.

Home, then, was, almost without exception, the center of all life, economic, social, and educational. Everything was produced at home; all food was grown; suits and dresses and underclothing were made from cloth woven on the premises. There were simply no stores in which to buy anything. The leather for shoes was taken from the hides of animals one had reared oneself, and the shoes were made at home, the leather tanned, the shoes fashioned. A man made his own tools, was his own blacksmith, carpenter, architect. He built his own house, too, and kept it in repair.

Woman’s place in this early family home was indisputably at the very center, an equal partner with her husband in all the manifold duties, responsibilities, joys, hopes, and fears of the entire household. Her work was heavy and constant; she cooked the food her husband had grown, wove the cloth, fashioned and made the clothes for the entire family. She cleaned and she swept, washed, and ironed from morning till night.

Children, as soon as they were old enough, lightened her labors. She was responsible for their education (public schools had never been heard of), which was not just a matter of teaching them the three R’s but of inculcating in them all that she knew of the multitude of arts, crafts, and techniques it took to run such a home.

Her reward for all this was the fact that she was needed, loved, held in the highest esteem by her husband and her whole family. If she failed in her duties or if she died, it would be not merely a sad or inconvenient event for the family. It would be a disaster, for the activities of the distaff side, although different from those of the male, were of equal importance.

There were of course no social scientists to ask her probing questions about her sex life, and we can only know about her indirectly and by piecing odd patches of information together wherever we may find them. From what we can gather, even the concept of frigidity in marriage was unknown to her; love, home, work were a unified and profoundly satisfying experience on all levels. As a woman she was profoundly needed, and as a woman reared to respond to this need she had no single occasion to question her worth or her abilities.

And then one by one, slowly but surely, her responsibilities and her duties were removed from her; her close and equal working relationship with her husband was destroyed; her importance to her children was diminished sadly.

The new machines made possible by Watt’s harnessing of steam power began to take over, to displace all those things that had been done by hand. Transportation, via the new Iron Horse, developed, and trade between sections that were once remote from one another was made possible. A man could make more money than he had ever dreamed of if he could supply a need of some group or community.

And so industry in the sense that we know it today started with a rush. The principle of steam power was applied to the manufacture of goods with tremendous success. Factories sprang up, and they needed men to run them. Now husbands who but recently had worked at home, hand in hand and side by side with their wives, labored outside the home, developed lives that were independent to some extent of the home’s activities and concerns.

The supply of manufactured goods from the factories began to render the homemaking skills and handicrafts of women unnecessary. As time wore on and new ideas developed to meet the new conditions created by the machine, the education of the children passed from the home to a new institution, the public school.

It happened slowly, very slowly, over generations, in fact, and the full results of the Industrial Revolution were not felt until this century. At first, so gradual was the process that only a few women, scattered here and there, felt the impact of the change. But as time passed and the process extended, more and more families were drawn into the vortex of industrialization, and at length it had changed the lives of every individual in the land.

Very slowly, too, but everywhere, women woke as if from a centuries-old dream of peace and happiness to find themselves dispossessed. Gone was their central place in the family home, gone their economic importance, gone their close working partnership with their mate, their functions of teacher and moral guide to the children. The child himself was gone, to school, as the husband had gone to the mill or factory.

Yes, she was dispossessed, dispossessed of all those things that for centuries had defined her womanhood for her, that had supported her ego, given her the certain knowledge that being a woman, however hard, was a wondrous and most desirable thing. She felt her womanhood itself devalued, the things it represented unwanted.

And then she reacted. She reacted violently and with rage at this depreciation of her feminine attributes, of her skills, of her functions. Unhappily this reaction was precisely the wrong one, the one from which no solution of a happy kind for her could be attained.

Here’s what she did. Looking about, she thought she spied a villain in the piece. Who was it? None other than her partner through the centuries, man. It was he who had deserted her, who was responsible for her loss of self-respect as a woman, a mother, an equal socially and mentally and morally. He despised women. Very well, she would show him. She would simply stop being a woman. She would enter the lists and compete with him on his own level. To hell with being a woman. She would be a man.

You don’t believe it? It seems too farfetched? Woman as a sex would never have made such a decision?

Well, let’s look a little more closely at some of the facts.

What was the program of the feminists? Actually Mary Wollstonecraft had enunciated it in its entirety in her book, A Vindication of the Rights of Women, and the movement never deviated from her original demands. Feminism was the first step of the strange religion of Wokeism in the sense that its goal was nothing less than “the complete dismantling of” Christian womanhood. 

Currently, Wokeism is nothing more than Marxist Critical Theory which came from the German Frankfurt School that taught ““liberate human beings from the circumstances that enslave them,” reinterpreting western culture as a story of the oppressor vs. oppressed… the main lines of separation between oppressors and oppressed are race, sex and gender identity.” 

The goal of Wokeism is the total destruction of Christian western culture:  

In a nutshell, Critical Theory critiques culture and challenges the underlying power structures of society. It is a movement to “liberate human beings from the circumstances that enslave them,” reinterpreting western culture as a story of the oppressor vs. oppressed. In Critical Theory, the only things that exist are hierarchies of power, and those hierarchies must be torn down. The goal of this movement, whether stated or not, is nothing less than the complete dismantling and rebuilding of western culture from the ground up. 

Critical Theory started to become prominent among western academics in the 90s and eventually infiltrated almost every university in the western world. In recent years, the ideology has left the university and has made the jump to media and corporate culture, establishing itself as the primary moral culture within western societies. Currently, the main lines of separation between oppressors and oppressed are race, sex and gender identity…

… Why call wokeism a new religion? The fact is that the rise of secular humanism over the past 70 years created a religion-shaped hole in our culture. Secularism, for all of its cultural dominance, failed to offer a robust philosophy of meaning and purpose, nor did it provide any moral framework for how to act within the world besides “be a good person because the alternative is undesirable for everyone.” Alternatively, wokeism has developed its view of reality with its own set of values and narratives. From the ashes of secular humanism, a new civil religion rises.

Wokeism offers everything that secularism failed to provide, and has quickly filled the God-shaped hole in our culture. It purports its version of truth, justice, righteousness, sin, and judgement. It provides its adherents meaning, with its meta-narrative of societal conflict, power struggle and the struggle for redemptive freedom. The tearing down those oppressive power structures helps give purpose to the individual and the collective. These values are solidified in public rituals like sensitivity training or confronting white fragility. There is a strong communal aspect, and people feel like they are part of something greater than themselves. Also inherent in this “social progress” is the hypothetical future utopian society liberated from the evils of the current oppressive system. Most of all, however, Wokeism offers what every sinful human heart deeply longs for, and that is moral justification. People believe they are acting justly within the world, and being fair, sometimes they are. But often, all that they are doing is mere posturing, or worse, destructive.

That is not to say the Wokesim offers total absolution to its followers; in fact, it is quite the opposite. To be tearing down oppressive power structures means that you are also profoundly aware of your prejudices. James Lindsay, a mathematician, academic, and atheist, was recently on Joe Rogan and said:

“Some religions look up, they’re looking at God, and they’re afraid of sin, but they’re paying attention to God, and they’re thinking about renewal, they’re thinking about redemption, they’re thinking about forgiveness. And then some religions look down, and all they do is look at sin. If you look up, then religion can be great, it can lead people in spiritual development, community and so on, but if you’re looking down, if you’re obsessing about sin, you’re going to start obsessing about everybody else’s sin too.”

The ideas of sin (privilege) righteousness (victimhood) and damnation (cancellation) are well established within Wokeism. While it provides rituals of penance (“check your privilege” and “allyship”) and piety (kneeling during the anthem or posting black squares), what it never offers is forgiveness. In a recent interview with Dave Rubin, theologian Nathan Finochio described the phenomenon:

“If I’m stuck in the oppressor group and there’s no escaping it, there can be no forgiveness if there’s no repentance, right? Like, isn’t that how it works? So I’m just perpetually a sinner, and I’m just going to continue to perpetuate the oppressor group, and there’s nothing that I can do. Of course, cancel culture is actually the logical conclusion of Critical Theory…because they have to get rid of the oppressor class.”

Differences with Christianity

The British spy agency GCHQ is so aggressive, extreme and unconstrained by law or ethics that the NSA — not exactly world renowned for its restraint — often farms out spying activities too scandalous or illegal for the NSA to their eager British counterparts. There is, as the Snowden reporting demonstrated, virtually nothing too deceitful or invasive for the GCHQ. They spy on entire populations, deliberately disseminate fake newsexploit psychological research to control behavior and manipulate public perception, and destroy the reputations, including through the use of sex traps, of anyone deemed adversarial to the British government.

But they want you to know that they absolutely adore gay people. In fact, they love the cause of LGBT equality so very much that, beginning on May 17, 2015 — International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia — they started draping their creepy, UFO-style headquarters in the colors of the rainbow flag. The prior year, in 2014, they had merely raised the rainbow flag in front of their headquarters, but in 2015, they announced, “we wanted to make a bold statement to show the nation we serve how strongly we believe in this.”

Who could possibly be opposed to an institution that offers such noble gestures and works behind such a pretty facade? How bad could the GCHQ really be if they are so deeply committed to the rights of gay men, lesbians, bisexuals and trans people? Sure, maybe they go a little overboard with the spying sometimes, and maybe some of their surveillance and disinformation programs are a bit questionable, and they do not necessarily have the highest regard for law, privacy and truth. But we know that, deep down, these are fundamentally good people working within a fundamentally benign institution. Just look at their flamboyant support for this virtuous cause of social justice.

It’s so sweet that one is tempted to forget about, or at least be more understanding of, all the bombing campaigns and all the dictatorships they install and prop up that repress and kill the very people that they purport to honor and cherish. Like the GCHQ, how menacing can an intelligence agency be when it is so deeply and sincerely supportive of the rights of the people they routinely spy on, repress and kill?..

Corporations have always sought to control the legislative process and executive branch, usually with much success. They purchase politicians and their power aides by hiring them as lobbyists and consultants when they leave government, and those bought-and-paid-for influence-peddlers then proceed to exploit their connections in Washington or state capitals to ensure that laws are written and regulations enforced (or not enforced) to benefit the corporations’ profit interests. These large corporations achieve the same goal by filling the campaign coffers of politicians from both parties. This is standard, age-old K Street sleaze that allows large corporations to control American democracy at the expense of those who cannot afford to buy this influence.

But they are now going far beyond clandestine corporatist control of the government for their own interests. They are now becoming increasingly powerful participants in highly polarizing and democratic debates. In the wake of the George Floyd killing last summer, it became virtually obligatory for every large corporation to proclaim support for the #BlackLivesMatter agenda even though many, if not most, had never previously evinced the slightest interest in questions of racial justice or policing. 

One of the very few companies that refused to do so was the Silicon Valley-based cryptocurrency exchange platform called Coinbase — which announced that it would remain apolitical and not involve itself in partisan debates or causes of social justice unrelated to its core business mission. When announcing that policy of political neutrality, the company’s co-founder Brian Armstrong explained that “the reason is that while I think these efforts are well intentioned, they have the potential to destroy a lot of value at most companies, both by being a distraction, and by creating internal division.” That once-anodyne announcement — to stay out of politics as a corporate entity — produced instant backlash. And exactly two months after, the notoriously censorious and politicized “tech reporters” of The New York Times punished the company for its heresy of neutrality with a lengthy article depicting Coinbase as a bastion of racism and toxic bigotry (the company was also savaged by journalists because of its audacity to reveal and respond to the NYT’s allegations in advance of the paper’s decision to publish).

Ever since, large corporations are diving into numerous other political debates with great vigor and force — provided that their views are in alignment with affluent liberal culture and prevailing social justice pieties (though, like NBA officials and stars, they confine themselves to easy domestic causes and scripted liberal platitudes while they steadfastly avoid commenting on any injustices that may implicate their business interests, such as debates over repression in China or Amazon’s abuse of its workers). The Wall Street Journal on Sunday reported that “dozens of chief executives and other senior leaders gathered on Zoom this weekend to plot what several said big businesses should do next about new voting laws under way in Texas and other states.” The campaign against these laws includes not just corporate giants but also the nation’s largest and richest corporate law firms.

Part of the motive may be self-serving strategy. With Democrats controlling both houses of Congress as well as the Executive Branch — all of the instruments that can legislate and regulate their businesses — they may be calculating that using their massive weight to serve the Democratic Party’s political agenda is wise. Doing so could curry favor with powerful lawmakers and regulators and result in rewards or, conversely, allow them to avoid punishment and recrimination for the crime of refusing to engage in activism. That motive at least partially explains why they have been so generous with their donations to Democratic candidates. “Wall Street is putting its money behind Democrat Barack Obama for president,” reported Reuters in 2008, while they did the same overwhelmingly in 2020 to support Biden over Trump (just as Democrats have increasingly become the party of affluent suburbanites, they are also increasingly supported by the wealthiest corporate and tech power centers).

The farcical nature of all of this is obvious. Just as it is laughable that the CIA and GCHQ care about social justice, feminism, and racial diversity as they bomb and subvert the rest of the world in ways that contradict all of those professed values, the idea that corporate giants who use sweatshops, slave labor, mass layoffs and abuse of their workforce care about any of these causes would make any rational person suffocate on the stench of their insincerity.

But whatever the motives, the dangers of growing corporate involvement in U.S. political debates are manifest. In its healthiest form, the way democracy would function is that citizens vote for the representatives they believe will best serve their interests, and those representatives then enact laws they believe their constituents favor. But when giant corporations use their unparalleled economic power to override that process — by forcing state and local governments to rescind or reject laws they would otherwise support due to fear of corporate punishment — then the system, by definition, far more resembles an oligarchy than a democracy.
