Truly Hopeful News on Joe Cronin

As of this afternoon, it looks as if Driscoll Hospital is going to help facilitate the transfer of Joey Cronin to another Hospital – HealthBridge Hospital in Houston. Yeah, I have not covered all details during some incredibly tense moments throughout this morning. But it looks now like the legal infrastructure is going into place to see the transfer through. Driscoll does not seem poised to make any more efforts to declare brain death – and instead is helping facilitate the transfer…and it looks like HealthBridge is about to clear all the bureaucratic hurdles necessary to make it a reality.

I do not know what God’s final intention in this is, but I feel more confident than I have since this has started that Joey is firmly in God’s hands now rather than man’s.

My Lord, how I thank you all for your prayers and your direct efforts to give this boy a chance. Tons of websites have reprinted the story – and I will send notes thanking the operators of each next week. EWTN has gotten involved, the Catholic News Agency, LifeSiteNews, several Texas television stations. It is because you rallied with fortitude and firmness, but with grace and refinement. You folks created a groundswell. You don’t have to shout and holler and be filled with angry recriminations to make things happen…you have to set your shoulder to the plow and man your post with fortitude and endurance.

Your calls bought Joey time. You set your shoulders to the plow, didn’t worry what you couldn’t do and DID what you could with grace and fortitude – and together you moved mountains. Just last night, the Alliance Defending Freedom jumped in in a big way and they will be with Joey and his family throughout. If you decide to donate to their site, please make sure to note your gratitude for what they are doing for the Driscoll family. They are short on talk and long on action, God bless ’em.

Thanks be to Corpus Christi Bishop Emeritus Gracida, who smoothed the way quietly in the background for so much in all of this. It is not time to let our guard down, but the alert status has been reduced from red to at least orange – and maybe even yellow. I will keep you advised of any important updates.

I am in tears of gratitude for all of you right now. It may be because of the emotional release at seeing the first real glimmer of light at the end of this tunnel. It may just be because I am utterly exhausted.

George and Susan Cronin asked me to pass on their profound gratitude to all of you. They are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, prayer, practical help and support you have all rallied to on behalf of their son. I just told George I am going to go take a nap. He told me he can’t yet, but asked if I would offer up maybe 40 winks on his behalf. Done.
