BIDEN SHOULD BE IMPEACHED FOR SELLING OFF OUR EMERGENCY OIL RESERVES TO COMMUNIST CHINA

It’s hard to believe this is real, Friend.
Biden Sells Off America’s Emergency Oil Reserves To Communist China
Daily Caller, 7/18/22

Since July of last year, the Biden Administration has sold nearly SIX MILLION barrels of oil from America’s emergency reserves to a Chinese state-run energy firm.

Just in case you missed that: Joe Biden is selling off our emergency oil reserves to the Chinese Communist Party in the middle of an energy crisis.

This is outrageousbaffling, and downright lunacy.

Instead of helping China, we should be holding them accountable for their appalling actions.

Let’s not forget they have stolen our intellectual property, threatened our military, and unleashed a deadly pandemic on our country that left millions dead.

To ensure that these transgressions do not go unanswered, I’m asking that you join me in supporting America First patriots who will STAND UP TO CHINA.
SUPPORT PATRIOTS WHO WILL STAND UP TO CHINA
We cannot allow the Democrats to aid and abet the Chinese Communist Party one second longer, so please help me in supporting America First patriots!

“Complete self-confidence is not merely a sin; complete self-confidence is a weakness.” Some in Rome should think about this before they cause even more Catholics to question the Faith (or at least the Church).

JULY 28, 2022

It’s Not for the Pope to Change

ROBERT B. GREVING

Francis

In the classic The Spiritual Combat, the first weapon needed for sanctity is self-distrust. Or, as Chesterton said, “Complete self-confidence is not merely a sin; complete self-confidence is a weakness.” Some in Rome should think about this before they cause even more Catholics to question the Faith (or at least the Church). They—and we—should also consider and be grateful for the diffidence of Pope St. Paul VI. Let me explain.

Here’s the problem. Pope Francis has changed the continuous moral teaching of the Church at least twice. The first was in Amoris Laetitia, allowing Catholics in adulterous relationships to receive the Eucharist; and the second was when he declared capital punishment inadmissible.

Now, I know many will say that the teaching has not changed. To do this, though, they have to go through so many mental, theological, and ecclesiastical hoops that it makes the “How many angels fit on the head of a pin?” debate seem simplistic.

The two instances that have happened have not been “misstatements” or something “taken out of context.” They have been official pronouncements by Pope Francis. Regarding the allowance of adulterous Catholics to receive Communion, we can’t play the “dubious footnote” game. Francis later gave his own directions to the Argentinian bishops that, yes, that is what he means. All requests for clarification were dismissed.

In the matter of capital punishment, he, on his own volition, and citing no authority other than himself, made the change in the official catechism of the Church. In both instances, there seems little doubt that the moral teaching of the Church has changed and has been changed, officially, by the pope.

These are not prudential judgments or matters of Church governance. These are moral teachings. And by “changed” I don’t mean “developed” (that favorite word of the pope). I mean changed. In the first instance, what once was sinful is now no longer so; in the second instance, what once was allowable, is now sinful. For the Catholic in the pew, black has become white, and white has become black.

And now we have a third, and perhaps even more catastrophic, change coming. The Pontifical Academy for Life has published a document describing a “paradigm shift” in the Church’s teaching on birth control. The document reads that, since there are “conditions and practical circumstances that would make the choice to generate irresponsible,” a married couple may decide to resort “with a wise choice” to contraceptive techniques. Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, Pope Francis’ handpicked president of the Academy, writes, “The text carries out a radical change, moving, as it were, from the sphere to the polyhedron.” (I’m not making this up.)

Some will argue that this is only a document written by, or at least guided by, Archbishop Paglia and is not official Church teaching. They may also add that several members of the Academy have criticized it, pointing out that they were not consulted. But we’ve seen this “end around” before (see Amoris Laetitia). Besides, Archbishop Paglia made it clear that Pope Francis knew from the beginning about the initiative and the document, and, according to Paglia, he encouraged it. Some are seeing it as the basis for an encyclical changing the teaching.

I’m not going to debate the teaching. What I want to do is point out two things. The first is the absolute confidence Pope Francis and his theologians have shown in their own judgment on changing Church teaching. This leads to the second thing: their confidence in themselves is destroying many Catholics’ confidence in the Church. Do they realize this?

Here is the question I am asking myself, and I wish to God I had the answer: If Pope Francis is right, then the Church up to his pontificate has been wrong, and my belief in that Church has been misplaced. On the other hand, if (as I believe) the Church up to Pope Francis has been right, then he is wrong, and my belief in a central tenet of that Faith (her teaching authority) has been misplaced, which, in turn, undermines my belief in the whole structure.

I want to be clear that I am not “attacking” Pope Francis. I am simply stating what he has done. I could even agree with the changes. The problem still remains. We are now faced with a situation (or two, and possibly three) where the moral pronouncement of the Church, as issued by the pope in his teaching capacity on matters of morals, is not infallible. It can change.

So, what is a Catholic to do? And by a Catholic, I mean someone who has trusted the Church in her consistent moral teaching for two millennia, in all her Councils and through all her popes. I guess they were wrong?

The papacy of Francis is full of ironies, but this may be the most ironic. These changes have been made—and will be made—to keep up with the times. (Use whatever fancy theological language you want, that is what it comes down to.) We “now know better.” They are done—even giving the best of intentions—supposedly to strengthen and broaden the Church. They will do nothing of the sort. They will weaken her incredibly and narrow her remarkably. With all due respect to other faiths, especially Protestants, people have not converted, and will not convert, to the Catholic Faith because she is just like any other.

I am not saying that the Church should hold to her teachings simply to be different; to offer another item on the menu. I am saying that, in my experience—my own personal faith journey (an ugly phrase, but necessary) and the conversion stories of many I know—the turning or returning to the Catholic Faith has been because she alone has said, “We have the truth, the unchangeable truth, the rock of truth.” And now the rock is being pulverized into sand.

So, again, what is a Catholic to do? I don’t know. Perhaps the next conclave would elect “our man” and put in the “policies” (i.e., moral teachings) we approve of. The effort and cost would be enormous. For one, Francis has made a point of appointing only those who agree with him to positions of power. He has that right as pope, so I don’t challenge him there. I wish John Paul and Benedict had been more Franciscan in this regard.

A large part (fifty percent? Seventy-five percent?) of the college of cardinals and the episcopacy would have to be overhauled. And what to do with those who, whether we like it or not, are bishops for life and are still around? Also, entire religious orders would need to be cleansed. Universities and seminaries would need to be purged or shut down. Countries may need to be put under interdict.

But so what? With his confidence, Francis, I am sure unwittingly, has made the papacy into a presidency whereby moral teachings are mere policies. The “other side” will just wait their turn to put in “their man (woman?)” and reverse it. Hello Protestantism.

And, meanwhile, what about our priests? I am thinking of the many who entered the priesthood precisely because of John Paul II’s and Benedict’s upholding of Church teaching. They will be caught not only in their own moral dilemma but in having to try to explain to parishioners (while keeping a straight face) why sin is no longer sin.

So why am I bringing up Paul VI? I go back to The Spiritual Combat and its first lesson—distrust of self. There is a lot one can criticize about Paul VI and his pontificate. Probably the most frequent charge is diffidence, too much of a willingness to go along. That certainly seemed a problem. But as we are staring into the headlights of a papal reversal of Humanae Vitae, it may be that very quality of Paul VI that saved him in that reaffirming encyclical; a quality that seems conspicuously absent in Rome today.

We know that the commission Paul VI had appointed regarding contraception said it should be allowed. And it may be that Paul VI himself was willing to go along with them. If he were looking only at the current times and those present around him, he may have done so.

But maybe, maybe, he distrusted himself even there. Maybe he looked back over his shoulder at his predecessors, and the Councils, and the doctors of the Church, into that eternal encompassing entity that is the Church, and thought, “But who am I to go against them?” As many are wondering where—or whether—they belong in the Catholic Church today, I can only wish that the current pope had more such diffidence.

WILTON GREGORY IS PROVING TO BE A WORTHY SUCCESSOR AND DISCIPLE OF HIS PREDECESSOR THEODORE MCCARRICK IN THE GOVERNANCE OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF WASHINGTON

Wilton Gregory and the Trad Re-Education Camps

It is a rainy Tuesday evening, and a large group is gathered in the parish hall at St. Paul VI Roman Catholic Church. Not just women are gathered, which is odd for this parish, but men too. And children, countless children. Very odd indeed.

An older lady, dressed in a smart looking pink jumpsuit, steps up to the microphone to address the crowd. She introduces herself as Sister Mary-Karen. Behind her stands a priest, apparently, named Father Sonny. They have urgent business to address, at the request of the archbishop.

“May the Creator God inspire us tonight, keep us open-minded, and accompany us on our journey towards unity and synodality,” she begins. “We are gathered to rediscover where our faith journey is leading us. I know that my personal faith journey has been amazing since I better followed the spirit, if I do say so myself. But enough about me and my amazing faith journey. I now invite Sonny to come lead us in dialogue.”

To the podium steps the priest. His self-assurance is enormous, as is he. “Sisters and brothers, thank you for coming. I am reminded of our parish vision statement. You’re going to like this I think: All are Welcome.”

He waits for applause, none is given, so he continues awkwardly. “I just want to reassure you that this Mass you are being invited to attend…”

“Forced!” shouts a man from the audience.

“Invited to attend,” continues Fr. Sonny, “is the Mass of the Council! It is what the early Church would’ve probably said. And it has more Scripture! So that is why you are invited to come join us in worship. Plus, our church here has air conditioning. You won’t miss your old pre-Council building at all.”

“My kids hate the new Mass!” shouts an angry mom from the back, holding two children in a headlock while two more race for the cookies at the snack table. “This is how they behave there. Just like this!” As if on cue, both children in her arms start screaming. “But! Not at the TLM! There my kids are…”

“Oh, not true!” interrupts Fr. Sonny. “The youth love the new Mass! It has everything vibrant about it. It’s… cool!”

“Oh?” says the mom. “Golly gee! That sounds great. Thanks for letting me know!”

“And further, as a priest, I can say that people are much more active at the Council’s Mass. They don’t waste time praying the rosary, or with any prayer really, but they actively participate. They serve, and read, and preach, and dance, and play guitar. This Mass is just what is needed in the modern world.”

“Are you sure?” asks a big man in the front row. “I mean, I thought the Vatican II didn’t even call for this kind of departure, much less a changing of all Sacrament Rites, the removal of minor orders, the changing of the calendar, the…”

“Uh, just hang on there sir!” says Fr. Sonny. “I assure you that this new Mass is better in every way. Did I mention there’s more Scripture? Without a doubt, if you just accept what I am saying to you right now and attend my parish re-education sessions over the next ten weeks (for a small fee), you will be right at home. Your spiritual lives will blossom. And maybe, if you do things right, some day you will become super-duper holy, like Saint Paul VI! Or better yet, like Sister Mary-Karen!”

“Wow!” murmur the people in the basement in spirit-inspired unison. “This sounds great! Thank you so much for teaching us about the new Mass and its effects. You have led us out of our nostalgic ignorance into the light of accompaniment and friendship!”

All leave the church with smiles. Tragically, many never return. Such is the small price to pay for getting more Scripture.

* * *

I hope that this little story is seen as a ridiculous piece of nonsense. I write the above fiction as I try to envision the latest masterpiece issued by a high-ranking member of the Catholic Church. This time it is a decree from Wilton Cardinal Gregory of the Archdiocese of Washington which severely limits the traditional Latin Mass within his jurisdiction. Who are we kidding? The cardinal wants the TLM to die a quick and painful death.

Before diving into any detail, I must give my first impression of the decree. That is, I was pleasantly surprised by it. In fact, it was a breath of fresh air. The Catholic Church under Pope Francis has become stale and predictable in its attempt to change Church discipline and doctrine. Everything seems repetitive and formulaic. If change is wanted, a synod is called. The synod threatens a massive heretical change. Then follows a document which walks-back the massive heretical change, though in effect it allows the change by either a footnote or through fluffy and unclear language. Think Amoris Laetitia, or Spiritus Domini. And so on and so forth.

Yes, parts of Cardinal Gregory’s decree attacking the traditional Latin Mass do have that stale, “Pope Francis says,” approach to it. However, if you were to read the decree carefully (not necessarily recommended), Cardinal Gregory would reward you with something new and, well, worthy of reflection. It says:

To this end, I have asked that the archdiocesan Offices of Liturgy, Ministerial Leadership, and Pastoral Ministry and Social Concerns assist pastors in accompanying our brothers and sisters who share that devotion [to the TLM]. This assistance can take various forms, including but not limited to a pastoral implementation plan, personal pastoral visits, and catechetical resources that explain the Second Vatican Council’s principles of liturgical renewal and the beauty of the reformed Mass.

If you were able to get past the lengthy list of archdiocesan “Offices” without choking, you might notice that the quote essentially says that traditional Catholics should be re-educated to know, love, and serve the Mass created in the aftermath of the Second Vatican Council.

This statement is as bold as it is unique. Clearly Cardinal Gregory has kindly offered the use of archdiocesan resources to enlighten, persuade, and rehabilitate Trads to the Mass they have so long resisted. He must be acting out of good will to be so generous. Indeed, he has talked-the-talk by taking away their Mass, and now he walks-the-walk by offering them support and re-education. Truly there is only one question that remains to be asked:

What the heck is Cardinal Gregory thinking?

Now I know of some Catholics who dabbled briefly at the traditional Latin Mass and then returned to the Novus Ordo. I am sure there are many reasons why. Maybe they didn’t understand adequately what was unfolding before them? Maybe the time of the Mass was too inconvenient? Maybe they were turned off by a self-appointed veil-police officer? Whatever the case they, at least temporarily, cease to attend.

But this is a small minority. Without question, most attendees at a TLM, many of whom grew up with the Novus Ordo, are firmly entrenched in the pre-Bugnini Mass of the Ages. For it is more than a Mass. It is a birthright. It is a rock. It is a refuge. It is even a way of living. The Mass touches all aspects of their life. A family devoted to the TLM will order themselves accordingly. Work, friendships, personal reading, daily prayer, home decor, relationships, recreation, education, sports, chores, clothing, and so forth are driven by what is imbibed though the traditional Latin Mass. Such a family lives the Sunday Mass each week, and returns to it once again for renewal and strength. It is not just a matter of aesthetic preference. It is a matter of spiritual necessity. The TLM becomes a part of their spiritual DNA. In it they become as faithful little children, seeking Christ despite the glares of pharisees and apostles.

Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such (Mt. 19:14).

Cardinal Gregory claims he will re-educate such traditional Catholics. I say he will have an easier time “re-educating” a loaf of bread to become a rock. That is, Cardinal Gregory will not re-educate them. He may belittle them. He may rub salt in their wounds. He may humiliate, infuriate, and persecute them. But he will not re-educate them. They will never say, “Golly gee! That sounds great,” to his words and insinuations. For one steeped in the timeless beauty and truth of the traditional Latin Mass, it is more powerful than any decree from an archbishop or pope. It is more noble than a universe filled with guitars strumming Gather Us In. It is stronger than any Bugnini Mass forced upon generations of disillusioned Catholics. For it is as close to the kingdom of heaven as one gets in this life. And when one finds such a pearl, such an incalculable treasure, he sells all he has, purchases the field where it resides, and rejoices.

Traditional Catholics will not be re-educated.

“This is the Mass of the Council, sisters and brothers!” explains Fr. Sonny to the crowd of angry traditional Catholics.

“No, it’s not,” interjects a man from the back, holding a dozen or so Kwasniewski books. “Never did Sacrosanctum Concilium say to create new Eucharistic prayers, have versus populum worship, remove or alter 87% of the orations at the Mass, change the Rites of all the Sacraments, or…”

“Uh, but…” interrupts Fr. Sonny, “we have more Scripture!

“No, you need the new Mass. It’s for your own good. It’s for your children!”

“They’ve been brainwashed by you!” threatens Fr. Sonny. By now he is sweating profusely.

“Brainwashed?” fires a young man with a long beard, clutching some books by Martin Mosebach. “Brainwashed is the perfect word. Brainwashed to think that the new Mass was actually created at Vatican II. Brainwashed to think that imbibing the modern world has grown the Church. Brainwashed to say that the two Masses share some sort of hermeneutic of continuity. Brainwashed to say that youth love 1970s folk songs. Brainwashed to say that a bit of Latin at a Novus Ordo is the same thing as a TLM. Brainwashed to say that praying at Mass is not active participation. Brainwashed to say that the TLM can actually be banned. Brainwashed…”

By now the crowd is in an uproar. Fr. Sonny and Sister Mary-Karen drop their notes and head for the exit. But as they flee, old Sister Mary-Karen gets one last shot in:

“My faith journey is amazing! Our Mass is the way of the future!”

It seems that traditional Catholics are not the only ones who cannot be re-educated.

For decades during the post-WW II Cold War period, China and Russia were at odds with each other over which one was to be the dominant figure in transitioning the world to communism/socialism. Control of the world is no longer consumed by that single issue.

In 2001 the two nations signed a twenty-year Neighborly Friendship and Cooperation Agreement. It serves as a basis for peaceful relations and economic cooperation.  Article 9 states, “When a situation arises in which one of the contracting parties deems that peace is being threatened and undermined or its security interests are involved or when it is confronted with the threat of aggression, the contracting parties shall immediately hold contacts and consultations to eliminate such threats.”  Articles 7 and 16 emphasize increasing military cooperation. In 2021 the agreement was extended for another five years.

On February 4th, 2022, just before the China-hosted Winter Olympics, Russian President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a joint statement laying out a bold declaration of their view of a New World Order consisting mainly of three conditions.  First, China needs natural resources (principally natural gas and oil) and Russia needs China’s investment, goods, and market. Secondly, on the global stage, both countries stand against the U.S. dominance in the world and stand up for the feckless United Nations system. Third, they face similar strategic power plays; for Russia, the U.S. backed NATO expansion and for China the conflict over Taiwan.  Both feel they are victims of the U.S.-led international order.

OIL, THEN AND NOW:

China’s Achilles heel has been and continues to be the availability of natural gas and oil. They currently import 10-12 million barrels of crude oil per day from two major oil sources, Russia and the Middle East.

Over the past ten years, Russia has increased the share of oil imported by China each year thanks in part to the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Oil Pipeline which links directly from Siberia into China. In 2021 China imported oil from 44 countries. About one-third (3.6 million barrels per day) was from Russia and about half (51%) from nine Middle East nations with the bulk of it from Saudi Arabia.

In 1973 the U.S. was providing support to Israel during the Yom Kippur War. In retaliation, OPEC decided to stop exporting oil to the U.S.  While the embargo lasted only six months, oil prices quadrupled (imagine if that happened today and crude oil prices quadrupled to $400 per barrel). The embargo became a dual-edged wake-up call to the world. First, it demonstrated the immediate and dramatic leverage the oil exporting countries held, and secondly, it demonstrated the importance of energy independence for those with the capability to do so.  In 1973 the U.S. vowed to find a way to achieve energy independence.  Unfortunately, it took until 2019 to achieve it.

LONG-RANGE STRATEGIC PLANNING:

Years ago, China set in motion a long-range strategic plan by doing the first thing first which is to define the end-state, “Control the World” and proceeded to define the operational phases to get there. And thus far they are getting an “A” in execution. For example, they have successfully transitioned to become an economic superpower. Additionally, China is shaping the future of economic development in about 100 countries with its Belt and Road initiative to better connect itself to the rest of the world through trade and infrastructure. By providing funding that the countries have long sought for roads, railways, power plants, ports, and other infrastructure, China has managed to gain control over critical natural resources such as natural gas, oil, and mining operations including rare minerals required by the remainder to the world.

There is another interesting piece to the long-range strategic planning process; that is, it is never a one-and-done process because as one moves from phase to phase you don’t know what you don’t know.  Stated another way, strategic planers will likely encounter unanticipated obstacles or perhaps stumble onto a target of opportunity. During my second career, conducting seminars for corporate executives on how to do long-range strategic planning (Vision to Execution), I would call such a circumstance, the “DKDK factor” (you don’t know what you don’t know).  It is critical because a particular DKDK event may cause you to accelerate to a new level of success or it could cause you to shift gears to avoid a disaster.

I believe there have been three unanticipated things that happened in just the past 18 months (DKDK) that impact China’s plan to “Control the world.”  They are leadership in “the West”, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and U.S. policy in the Middle East.

ONE, THERE IS NO LONGER A LEADER OF “THE WEST.”

Background:  A little over 100 years ago the U.S. sent its military to Europe to win World War I.  We did it again about 80 years ago not only to save Europe in World War II but also to simultaneously fight and win in the Pacific region, an unimaginable feat. Following WW II, we were engaged with Europe and NATO for about 50 years of the Cold War against the Soviet Union.  The U.S. clearly led every military, political and economic aspect to victory in the Cold War.  Given these events, it is no surprise that for decades the U.S. president has been referred to as, “the leader of the free world.”  That title was not ceremonial, it existed because the free world believed it.

President Biden’s actions over the past 18 months have disappointed and disillusioned world leaders. For example:

·       The embarrassing and unnecessary military/political collapse in Afghanistan.

·       Disrespect for a leader who would instantly squander his nation’s energy independence to make a trite political point.

·       Astonishment that President Biden would willingly and deliberately threaten our national security by opening our borders to millions of unvetted, untested criminals, MS- 13 gang members, terrorists, drug dealers, human traffickers, hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied minors, and millions of common folks with no known skillsets from over 170 countries.

·       Inability to deal with growing lawlessness across the U.S.

·       Obvious disinterest and/or inability to deal with North Korea’s ramped-up nuclear and long-range missile testing almost immediately after the January 2021 inauguration.

·       His inability to speak to difficult and demanding world issues without a prepared script and/or staged Q and A.

·       And finally, the icing on the cake.  The world watched the Russian buildup of an invasion force on the border with Ukraine from October 2021 through 24 February 2022. While China and North Korea refused to condemn the invasion, the remainder of the world thought otherwise. But the shockwave instantaneously hit the world when President Biden, in a rare extemporaneous moment, said,  “Russia will be held accountable if it invades. It depends on what it does.  It’s one thing if it’s a minor incursion and then we end up fighting about what to do and not do, et cetera.”The world’s interpretation of that statement, a little invasion will be OK.  Biden’s minions moved quickly to issue a what-the-president-meant-to-say statement but the irrevocable damage had been done.  Suspicions confirmed, that the president of the United States can no longer be trusted as the leader of the free world.

Our allies and enemies alike are wondering who is in charge. There are obvious global doubts about President Biden’s physical and mental capacity to deal with the rigorous demands of a “leader of the free world.”

TWO: LESSONS LEARNED OVER THE LAST SIX MONTHS FROM RUSSIA’S INVASION OF UKRAINE:

Without condemning Russia for invading Ukraine, China could see that this unexpected world event could be instructional for them as they contemplate invading Taiwan.

Initially, China could see that the invasion could result in an all-out NATO military response.  But that did not happen for one major reason, gas and oil.  Russia has created a gas/oil dependence in Europe that can be turned on and off.  Russia used that leverage to soften the sanctions imposed by “the West.”  It prevented any NATO combatants from assisting inside Ukraine. And it caused European nations to lose interest in providing sufficient warfighting material to Ukraine as the war has extended in time and is no longer daily headline news.

China’s takeaway; in today’s complex geopolitical makeup, gas and oil can be the linchpin to success or failure either to influence short-term events or for the long haul.

THREE: BIDEN’S TRANSFORMATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST:

Background leading to today: The Obama/Biden approach to the Middle East was dominated by two issues, disregard for Israel and The Iran Nuclear Deal.   Number one needs no elaboration; they simply abandoned the U.S. decades-old policy of uncompromising support to Israel, our most valued friend in the region.

The Iran deal:  There is an old saying, “If you want something bad enough, that’s the way you will get it, bad.”

After a couple years of negotiations, the deal was signed in July 2015.

Background: The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, 1970, was agreed to by 191 nations.  The Clinton and Bush administrations vowed that Iran would never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. As the world’s greatest state-sponsor of terrorism, Iran had been hit hard with sanctions before 2013.  During negotiations for the nuclear deal with Iran, the U.S. lifted many of the most rigorous sanctions to get Iran to agree to the deal. After signing, Iran prohibited the UN from inspecting its nuclear development sites.  The Atomic Energy Agency inspector Olli Heinonen said the agreement means “Iran will be a threshold breakout nuclear state for the next 10 years”. The agreement was a complete betrayal of the trust of Israel as well as close Arab friends in the region;  Saudi Arabia and Egypt hated the agreement.

Because most believed Iran was fast producing a nuclear bomb, in 2018 President Trump canceled the agreement and hit Iran hard with new sanctions.

U.S./Middle East today:  Iran may already have a nuclear weapon but does not want to disclose the truth for fear of an attack by Israel.  Within days after his inauguration, President Biden formally offers to restart nuclear talks with Iran.  It is obvious to the casual observer that Iran is playing the U.S. negotiators, stretching out the schedule, seeking more and more sanctions relief all the while putting the finishing touches on their nuclear weapon. Biden is blinded by his obsession to undo everything President Trump accomplished in the Middle East at any cost.

U.S./Saudi relationships then and now: Bilateral agreements, particularly in the energy and security sectors have endured for decades. Saudi Arabia is one of the U.S.’s largest trading partners in the Middle East.  The U.S. has been instrumental over the decades in organizing, training, and equipping the Saudi military.

The Obama/Biden and now the Biden administrations bungling of the nuclear issues as they apply to Iran have created a deep mistrust between Saudi Arabia in particular and other Middle East nations in general towards the U.S.  They do not want a nuclear Iran and believe Biden has facilitated it.

In 2017, President trump’s first overseas trip was to Saudi Arabia and was described as, “A pro-American extravaganza” where Trump and the King signed a $110 billion arms deal.

Saudi Arabia is engaged in a war with its southern neighbor, Yemen.  The terrorist group, Houthi, engaged the Yemen government forces in 2014 and succeeded in capturing most of the country.  The ousted Yemen president asked Saudi Arabia for assistance.  The Saudis put together a coalition of nine Middle East nations to assist. During the conflict, the U.S. provided intelligence and logistical support as well as the sale of arms to coalition states. The Houthi terrorist group is totally sponsored by and equipped by Iran.  They routinely attack Saudi oil-producing areas and oil refineries. Because of all that, President Trump put the Houthi on the international terrorist list.

Enter the Biden Administration.  They immediately removed the Houthis from the terrorist list and canceled a Saudi order for military equipment needed to fight the Houthis.  Biden went on to announce an end to American support for Saudi-led offensive operations against the Houthis.  A perfect lesson on how not to treat friends and valued allies.

Additionally, during his 2020 campaign Biden labeled Saudi Arabia a “pariah state” over the murder of U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi.  Meanwhile, the Chinese government is committing crimes against humanity against eleven million Uyghur Muslims in northwest China (imprisoning more than a million) and Biden refers to China President Xi Jinping as, “my old friend.”  This hypocrisy is not lost on Saudi leaders and other Middle East nations. Given those underpinnings, Biden’s trip last week to Saudi Arabia to beg for oil ended up being all about a fist bump and was a national disgrace.

SO, WHERE ARE WE NOW IN THIS GEOPOLITICAL JIGSAW PUZZLE?

How do the geopolitical shifts in the past eighteen months as suggested above relate to China’s ongoing plan to “control the world?” Three points to consider;

One, to control the world China has to have greater influence over relationships with individual west nations; Germany, France, the UK, U.S. Italy, etc. Without a leader in the West, subtle divide-and-conquer initiatives could be China’s next move.

Secondly, Russia’s leverage over Europe right now, resulting from gas and oil dominance, may be a wake-up call to China. They might be concluding that unanticipated circumstances in the Middle East could result in the reduction or loss of oil from Saudi Arabia; a potentially catastrophic situation for China just as it is now for Europe.

Third, Biden has succeeded in fracturing U.S. influence in the Middle East; does this open a door for China to gain greater control over Middle East oil exports?

CHINA/IRAN RELATIONSHIP:

In July 2015 China and Iran agreed to expand trade to $600 billion in ten years; an increase of 1,000%. In March 2021 Iran and China signed a 25-year cooperation agreement that will strengthen their relationship concerning political, strategic, military, and economic components.  China has contracts totaling hundreds of billions of dollars in Iran’s gas and oil industry including exclusive rights to several Iranian oil and natural gas fields. It is not lost on China planners that Iran ranks as the fourth-largest reserve of oil and the second-largest reserve of natural gas in the world. Iran has signed on to China’s One Belt and Road program as a key part of China’s geopolitical ambitions in central Asia and the Middle East.  They are also linked militarily with China providing advanced systems to include control technology for long-range missile development. In January 2022 Iran, China and Russia held their third joint naval drills in the northern Indian Ocean. There also continue to be Chinese nuclear experts, scientists, and technicians present in Iran.

RUSSIA/ IRAN RELATIONSHIP:

Russia and Iran have had a close relationship for many years.  Last week Putin visited Iran for talks on expanding ties between the two nations. Sanctions imposed on Russia and Iran by the United States will strengthen their resolve for stability and economic prosperity in the region.  In 2016 Russia agreed with Iran to build nuclear power capabilities in Iran. A few days ago, the National Iranian Oil Company and Russian gas producer Gazprom signed a memorandum of understanding worth about $40 billion. Iran may be delivering armed drones to Russia for the Ukraine war. Iran, Russia, and Turkey are discussing joint car production. The strength of the Russia/Iran advancing relationship is a common enemy, the United States.

Thirty years ago, Iraq’s Saddam Hussein invaded neighboring Kuwait. Most believed this was a stepping-stone action on the way to taking down Saudi Arabia, controlling the world’s largest exporter of oil and thereby having enormous leverage against Europe and the United States. What happened shocked the world.  In short order, the U.S. demonstrated an unprecedented 3500-mile force projection capability and defeated Iraq’s highly publicized armor forces in about two days of combat. If Iran evolves as the new leader in the Middle East, few would foresee that type of U.S. response occurring again, which provides China and Russia almost free rein to have greater influence in the Middle East with Iran as their proxy.

CENTERS OF GRAVITY:

A final comment about long-range strategic planning.  A critical step for the plan as a whole and also as the organization is about to transition into another phase is to stop for a moment, take a deep breath and consider what will be the centers of gravity.  Centers of gravity defined: “A person, place, thing or circumstance that is CENTRAL to success or which could cause the plan to fail.”  VISION TO EXECUTION.  For example, in China’s overall plan a center of gravity is the continuous ability to import large quantities of natural gas and oil from the Middle East in general and from Saudi Arabia in particular.

The rule is, once a center of gravity has been identified it must be continually assessed. In the current China phase of their long-range plan to control the world, China planners should be reassessing the dynamics in the Middle East; reduced U.S. influence, their friend Iran emerging as the Middle East’s first possessor of a nuclear weapon, Israel’s long-time threat to take out a nuclear weapon in Iran, Saudi Arabia preoccupation with their war against the Yemen Houthi terrorists, etc.

The current question for China is, will the dynamics in the Middle East potentially threaten gas and oil exports to China? If so, that could portend disaster for the current phase as well as the overall end-state. It, therefore, becomes a center of gravity that must be dealt with immediately.  Conversely, perhaps they see an opportunity for Iran to supplant Saudi Arabia as the principal gas/oil supplier to China.  If so, that becomes a center of gravity to be exploited.

BOTTOM LINE:

If we look at the world in three categories, it makes it easier to see where China is concerning its desired end-state, Control the World.

China/Russia alliance: China and Russia are now committed to moving forward as a formidable team; strength in numbers.  China needs gas and oil and other natural resources.  Russia needs to be able to lean on China’s economic growth.  The end-state is considerable leverage against other nations and regions.

Other small nations: To date, China has quietly gone about gaining levels of control in up to 100 nations through its ongoing Belt and Road initiative. These nations can provide value-added principally in terms of natural resources; gas, oil, and minerals to include most of the lithium and rare-earth-metals on the planet.

The West: Lumping together the major nations (U.S. Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, most of Europe, Korea, Japan, and Australia) who collectively produce a significant share of the world’s GDP, they are currently without a presumptive leader, and therefore, unable to collectively counter China’s long-range control agenda.

CONCLUSIONS:

The U.S. has rapidly become more of an observer and less of a mover-and-shaker in world events. We have forfeited our military deterrent status. “The West” is leaderless. China’s military is stronger, larger, more lethal, and more deployable than ever before. NATO is expanding but does it have the united will to be a formidable force?  The UN remains powerless and essentially under the control of China and Russia because of the one-vote veto in the Security Council; i.e., nothing favorable to the West will happen and nothing unfavorable to China/Russia/Iran/North Korea will happen.

A China/Russia/Iran cabal controlling the Middle East could be disastrous for the West in general and the U.S. in particular if we choose to remain energy dependent. They could leverage all gas/oil-importing nations just as Russia is currently leveraging Europe.  China would have free rein to take over Taiwan.

China is executing a plan to control the world and this administration has either chosen to not acknowledge it or we are aware but are clueless as to what to do about it.

It is not a pretty picture but it is food for thought.

Author’s note, new subject:

I have published a new book, FIX THE SYSTEMS, TRANSFORM AMERICA.  I believe many of you will agree that our country can/should be better than it is today, some examples:  Education results are pathetic, race relations are a mess, illegal immigration is a national security nightmare, voter fraud does exist but shouldn’t, the size and scope of the Executive Branch is harmful in too many ways, federal deficit spending is out of control, Congress is dysfunctional, existing term limits do not adequately serve we-the-the people, universal service for young adults can make us a better nation and wouldn’t it be nice if we had a way to almost guarantee world peace.

The book is not political, there is plenty of blame for everyone involved in these ten issues. I intend to thoroughly define the problems and then present a solution in as much detail as possible.  Since publication in May 2022, I have sent copies around the country to leaders and well-known, well-positioned spokespersons in the Republican Party.  My message to them is that solutions to these problems should be of interest to all voters and they represent what I believe could be a proper and valuable 2024 Republican Party platform. In total, these solutions will save hundreds of billions of dollars for the American taxpayers.

I self-published the book and there is no marketing plan; my intent is not to be a best-seller or to make a pile of money.  What I would ask is that if you get a copy and agree with some of the solutions, would you please take the time to make your thoughts known to your Congressmen and women as well as your two Senators.  Available on Amazon for $11.99.

The Left Should Be

Happy with Biden

By: Victor Davis Hanson

American Greatness

July 21, 2022

The Left should be ecstatic that Joe Biden has given them everything they wanted.

The Left likes inflation. It reduces the value of old money by printing lots of new money. Those richer who have it, lose the value of their money; those poorer who don’t have any money, suddenly do.

When combined with low interest rates, inflation roars even louder. Not since Jimmy Carter has a Democrat been so insistent on inflating the money supply.

For decades, the Left has amplified former Energy Secretary Steven Chu’s 2008 dream that the government must spike fuel costs up to European levels. That was seen as the best way to force unsophisticated Americans to quit burning gas and transition to renewable energy. Biden took that sermon seriously.

He canceled federal energy leases. He shut down ANWR. He canceled pipelines and warned the oil industry its days were numbered. Biden has done more than any other Democrat to ensure fossil fuels were unaffordable, forcing America’s supposedly unthinking consumers to drive less or consider ditching their gas-engine cars altogether.

The hard American Left always wanted unlimited illegal immigration. Biden agreed and destroyed the southern border as we knew it.

The result is that in less than two years, nearly 3 million illegal aliens have surged into the United States. Nearly all of them arrived unvaccinated, untested, and unaudited at a time of a COVID pandemic.

Biden worries little that record numbers of Americans are dying from drugs that now pour across the border. Cartels became richer and more powerful than ever under his watch, while child traffickers were freed from worries.

Biden did more than any prior Democrat to ensure massive illegal immigration as part of the leftist dream of flipping red states blue by changing the demography.

The Left rails about imperialism, neo-colonialism, and military expenditure. Joe Biden without warning simply yanked all troops from Afghanistan. He abandoned a $1 billion new embassy, a $300 million refitted U.S. air base, and $80 billion worth of sophisticated arms and equipment.

In other words, Biden did more than any other prior Democrat to ensure the United States was humbled abroad, and its expeditionary forces taught a lesson about the evils of foreign interventions.

The Left fetishizes race. It enshrined the idea of “good” racial discrimination: to stop racial bias, one must be racially biased.

Biden was the first president to promise in advance that his vice-presidential running mate had to be both black and female. For his cabinet picks, Biden ignored most criteria of prior experience or specific expertise, but instead ensured that his administration was “diverse.”

No prior Democratic president has been so beholden to identity politics or so consistently used de facto racial, gender, and sexual identity quotas in his presidential appointees.

The Left for years has railed about the criminal justice system. It believes punishment does not really deter crime, which is instead a result of racism and a toxic capitalist system.

Biden agrees. Federal attorneys mimic the so-called George Soros city and county prosecutors who enforce the law largely according to ideological directives.

No prior president has managed to weaponize the Pentagon, the FBI, or the CIA in ways that have transitioned them from traditional institutions to woke avatars of social revolution.

No prior Democratic president has so attacked conservatives, a strict-constructionist Supreme Court, and the Republican Party.

So why is the Left so eager to oust Biden or at least ensure that he does not dare seek reelection in 2024?

Strangely, leftists do not grasp that Biden’s current record and unpopularity are due not just to his unmistakable cognitive decline. The problem is not just his often-toxic personality or his creepy habits of trying to shake the hands of invisible people or violating the private space of younger women.

Instead, the Biden Administration has become an utter failure because voters detest its agendas. They recoil at $5-a-gallon gas. They feel their lives are being destroyed by 9.1 percent annual inflation and supply chain shortages.

The public is tired of near-record annual increases in murders and other violent crimes.

They are sickened by the tsunami of dangerous drugs pouring across the border and unvetted millions of foreign nationals entering their country without their permission.

They are irate that the Biden cabinet never responds to these disasters. Instead, the administration denies the crises even exist.

Or it blames its self-created messes on the Russians, or Trump, or their Democratic senators who balked at printing more trillions of dollars.

Now the Left is looking for a younger, more charismatic, and more glib replacement president to advance their stale unpopular agendas.

But since when has changing an inept messenger ever changed a disastrous message?

Why the Latin Mass is Bringing Young …

catholicismpure.wordpress.com

The future of the Catholic Church will be through the traditional Roman rite, Carmelite rite, Dominican rite, Carthusian rite, Sarum rite, Braga rite, Iberian rite, and all other legitimate ancient rites of the complex patrimony of our western Christendom.

The future never was, nor ever will be, actualized through rationalistically inspired iconoclasm concerning liturgy and the undermining orthodoxy and orthopraxy by Modernist clerics and their Masonic allies, who have demonically sought to accommodate to an ideological secularism and all that this implies.

At this point in time, one’s choice clearly is to be an ally of the saints and our true Catholic forbearers or of the aforementioned numerous arrogant and vicious fools who sought to destroy the Church during the twentieth century.
 – Catholic Monitor commenter MEwbank

New York Daily News reported that the fifty year-old Novus Ordo Mass is destroying the Catholic Church in America “[s]ince the 1960s, Mass attendance has plummeted, from around 70% of U.S. Catholics every Sunday and Holy Day.”

Ironically, however, the anti-Latin Mass Francis has inadvertently caused “a counterrevolution of sorts” that may overthrow the Novus Ordo Mass:

“Fifty years ago this weekend, the Catholic Church debuted a new version of Mass following reforms made by the 1960s’ Second Vatican Council. From the use of vernacular language instead of Latin, to the priest facing the people instead of the tabernacle, the changes became mandatory at all parishes on the First Sunday of Advent 1969.”

“… The resurgence of the traditional Latin Mass started before Francis, but has seen unprecedented growth during his papacy, a counterrevolution of sorts that some (both admirably and critically) call an alternative Francis effect. Even bishops and priests who were not ordinarily interested in the traditional Latin Mass have been much more generous and vocal in offering additional such liturgies. Two distinct wings of the Catholic Church have emerged. Often, the new versus the old Mass is a defining characteristic of the opposing coalitions.”

“… But after five decades of experiments and decline, there is some growth to be observed within the Catholic Church. Ironically, it is with traditionalists joining the priesthood, entering convents and attending parishes that offer the very Latin Mass that was replaced 50 years ago.”

“… The past 50 years have not been good ones for the Catholic Church. Pope Benedict saw this when he wrote, of the new form of Mass, ‘we abandoned the organic, living process of growth and development over centuries, and replaced it — as in a manufacturing process — with a fabrication, a banal on-the-spot product.'”

The Catholic Herald revealed that in the United States the Traditional Latin Mass attendees are the future real Catholics of the Church which will eventually out number the Novus Ordo Mass (NOM) attendees.

It appears that if the trend continues the Novus Ordo Mass may be overthrown by sheer numbers.

Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) attendees are over overwhelmingly real Catholics while New Mass or Novus Ordo Mass (NOM) attendees tend to be lapsed and heretical Catholics according to a new study by Fr. Donald Kloster:

Fulfill Sunday obligation:

TLM: 99℅ vs. NOM: 22℅

Approve of abortion:

TLM: 1℅ vs. NOM: 51℅

Go to Confession at least once a year:

TLM: 98℅ vs. NOM: 25℅

Approve of contraception:

TLM: 2℅ vs. NOM: 89℅

Support same-sex marriage:

TLM: 2℅ vs. NOW: 67℅

“TLM attendees donate 5 times more in the collection” according to Fr. Kloster.

Stop for a moment of silence, ask Jesus Christ what He want you to do next. Make this a practice. By doing this you are doing more good than reading anything here or anywhere else on the Internet

Francis Notes:

– Doctor of the Church St. Francis de Sales totally confirmed beyond any doubt the possibility of a heretical pope and what must be done by the Church in such a situation:

“[T]he Pope… WHEN he is EXPLICITLY a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church, and the Church MUST either deprive him, or, as some say, declare him deprived, of his Apostolic See.”
(The Catholic Controversy, by St. Francis de Sales, Pages 305-306)

Saint Robert Bellarmine, also, said “the Pope heretic is not deposed ipso facto, but must be declared deposed by the Church.”

What is needed right now to save America from those who would destroy our God given rights is to pray at home or in church and if called to even go to outdoor prayer rallies in every town and city across the United States for God to pour out His grace on our country to save us from those who would use a Reichstag Fire-like incident to destroy our civil liberties. [Is the DC Capitol Incident Comparable to the Nazi Reichstag Fire Incident where the German People Lost their Civil Liberties?http://catholicmonitor.blogspot.com/2021/01/is-dc-capital-incident-comparable-to.html?m=1 and Epoch Times Show Crossroads on Capitol Incident: “Anitfa ‘Agent Provocateurs‘”:

Pray an Our Father now for the grace to know God’s Will and to do it.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

July 24, 2022Special EditionA Covid Afterthought By: Victor Davis HansonJuly 22, 2022 Recently, there has been increasing pressure on China either to produce more data exonerating itself of birthing the SARS-CoV-2 virus or to confess that the pathogen escaped from its secretive biosafety Level 4 virology lab and was human-engineered, showing insidious characteristics not found in nature. If the latter is true, and an increasing number of scientists believe it is, the best Chinese case is that some preventable laxity resulted in an escaped gain-of-function deadly virus that has so far not petered out like prior coronavirus epidemics. Whether it has been engineered to aid vaccine research or was some sort of dark bioweapon experiment, no one knows. We assume it was released accidentally not because the Chinese Communist Party is incapable of such nefariousness, but only because it apparently had no vaccine to protect its own from its own self-created virus. Still, if the virus, as speculated, is a gain-of-function monstrosity, let loose out of criminal laxity, and the sin is compounded by deliberate lying and subterfuge, then consider: The Chinese are responsible for millions of deaths worldwide. In essence, they have waged war on humankind and unleashed a weapon thousands of times more deadly than a nuclear bomb. But to what degree and why are they exempt from consequences? Do they own politicians, fund university research in the West, contribute to medical journals, and threaten media and universities that promulgate skepticism of the crackpot pangolin or bat theory? Ponder further. The lab has been the scene of prior viral breeches. It continues to engage in gain-of-function research. There is a strong possibility that another virus in some year in the future will be accidentally released and we will revisit the present nightmare years. Is that enough to concern us? So, what good are the UN, The WHO, NATO, etc. if they cannot “persuade” the Chinese to shut down the lab? Is it not the equivalent, whether intended so or not, of a weapons lab whose continued existence poses an existential risk to mankind? And what of our own scientists? Did some approve the transference of sophisticated gain-of-function infrastructure to China? Did Americans in the past give China the know-how to produce mice with human-engineered organs that would make possible such diabolical research? In other words, per their redacted emails, did CDC and NIAID top officials, most prominently Anthony Fauci, knowingly aid and abet the sort of research deemed too dangerous and thus illegal in the United States, by routing money and expertise to the Wuhan lab in semi-nontransparent fashion? If true, what does that make Dr. Fauci, the supposed viral guardian of America? If Fauci had even a small hand in promoting foreign gain-of-function research that led to the present COVID-19 pandemic and if simultaneously he was de facto our official arbiter of Covid-19 policies, then what sort of existential conflicts of interests did he engage in? Ostensibly any policy, any attitude, any protocol that even tangentially was connected to a Chinese origin, and thus eventually an American role in it, would eventually involve decisions made by Dr. Fauci and others? Do you get the point? How in the hell is this official still running a multibillion-dollar federal agency entrusted to keep us safe from coronaviruses when he may have promoted or at least agreed to the transference of knowledge and wherewithal that put us in such existential danger in the first place? In sum, are we snoozing through the greatest scandal in U.S. history, one that dwarfs Watergate or Russian collusion? Has Peter Daszak ever been called before Congress to explain the rerouting of federal dollars to Wuhan, his questionable role in the Lancet “investigation,” and what exactly are his relationships with the CDC and NIAID and Drs. Fauci and Collins? A paranoid would almost believe that the Chinese communist government had been partially funding or subsidizing Lancet, given its transparently unethical whitewash investigation of the Chinese lab and exoneration of Western scientists likely culpable in transferring some of the ability to make such a virus to Wuhan. Historians soon will grasp that the COVID-19 pandemic destroyed a presidency, blew up a booming economy, created suicidal quarantine and lockdown policies that sent the nation into collective hysteria that fueled the woke insanity of summer 2020, ruined years of the lives of our school-age children, spiked suicide rates, substance abuse, and household violence, radically changed the 2020 election into a 102 million early/absentee ballot nightmare, destroyed over one million lives, perhaps disabled over 10 million, created nonending nightmares for families of the dead and serially sick, paved the way for millions of doses of not fully tested vaccinates whose side effects have crippled and killed Americans, devastated the U.S. labor force and helped create the supply chain/worker shortage, and gave the nation Joe Biden, arguably the worst president since James Buchanan. There is something Hitlerian about the birth of this virus, and yet to even write or suggest the above is taboo and deemed dangerous to one’s career. Have we in our silence become absolutely unhinged? If you do not take an interest in the affairs of your government, then you are doomed to live under the rule of fools.Plato

Court Rules Pastor Artur Pawlowski Wrongfully Jailed for Defying COVID Lockdown to Hold Church Service

International  |  Steven Ertelt  |   Jul 22, 2022   |   2:27PM   |  Washington, DC

A Canadian appeals court ruled today that Pastor Artur Pawlowski was wrongfully arrested, jailed and fined for holding a church service in defiance of a ban on worship services put in place during the COVID pandemic lockdown.

In early May 2021, Pastor Artur Pawlowski of the Street Church in Alberta, Canada was arrested and charged with organizing an “illegal in-person gathering” and “requesting, inciting or inviting others” to join the gathering. His crime? Holding a church service in defiance of the Canadian COVID lockdown. And he faces 4 years in prison as a result of the service.

A video of the pastor had previously gone viral when police officers raided a Passover celebration at his Alberta church and Pastor Pawlowski yelled at the officers until they left.

A judge found Pawlowski guilty of contempt in June 2021 and he still potentially faced four years in jail for allegedly organizing an illegal in-person gathering, inciting or inviting others to attend an illegal gathering, as well as promoting and attending the gathering.

But today, the Alberta Court of Appeal ruled that the injunction against him, his arrest, his jail time, the censorship order and fines against him were illegal.

Alberta appeals court panel of Justice Barbara Lea Veldhuis, Justice Michelle Crighton and Justice Jo’ Anne Strekaf ordered Alberta Health Services to reimburse Artur Pawlowski and his brother, Dawid, for the costs of their appeal and the return of any fines and penalties paid. The appeals panel concluded the original injunction banning protests in the name of public health “was not sufficiently clear and unambiguous”

The appeals panel also reduced the penalties of restaurant owner Chris Scott to time served and penalties already paid.

The judgement released Friday morning read:

“The Pawlowskis’ appeals are allowed. The finding of contempt and the sanction order are set aside. The fines that have been paid by them are to be reimbursed. “

The chambers judge awarded costs to AHS payable by the Pawlowskis jointly in the amount of $15,733.50, calculated at 2.5 times column 1. That costs award is set aside and the Pawlowskis are awarded their costs payable by AHS in the proceedings below and in this Court calculated on the same basis”

Calgary pastor Art Pawlowski and his brother, Dawid, were both arrested and imprisoned after being found in contempt of an ex-parte court order obtained by Alberta Health Services restraining “illegal public gatherings.”

Pawlowski has seen something similar before in terms of persecution of Christians.

“I grew up in Poland under the boot of the Soviets, behind the Iron Curtain,” Pawlowski previously told The Daily Caller. “What I see right now, I see everything escalating and moving to the new level. They’re acting just like the Communists were acting when I was growing up when the pastors and the priests were arrested, and some were murdered. Many were tortured.”

Pawlowsk recently spoke with the Daily Wire and warned Americans are persecution in their own country.

“I grew up under communism, socialism, under the boots of the Soviets in a country where you had absolutely no freedoms. No freedom of speech, no freedom of religion, no freedom of association, no freedom of the press.”

“For disagreeing with government, for just simply sharing your heart about something that you have seen or heard, you could be tortured, arrested, beaten, sentenced to years in jail time — just because you had a different opinion than the State government.”

“In Poland, if you listened to another source of information that was coming outside of the communist-approved mainstream media, you could go to prison for five years. If you were caught possessing a pamphlet that was not approved by the government, you could go to jail for a year or two,” Pawlowski continued.

He remembered that “before they would sentence you, you would be tortured, beaten by the police.” Lawlessness reigned and the Constitution of the Polish People’s Republic became a mere piece of paper. “There was nothing that resembled justice and rule of law at all. It was 50,000 communists ruling, enslaving 36 million Polish people at that time. So what I see right now is a similar approach. One law at a time, one infringement on our rights at a time.”

Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley previously condemned the persecution.

“I am troubled that our Canadian neighbors are effectively being forced to gather in secret, undisclosed locations to exercise their basic freedom to worship,” the Missouri Republican wrote. “Frankly, I would expect this sort of religious crackdown in Communist China, not in a prominent Western nation like Canada. Canadian authorities’ arrest of faith leaders and seizure of church property, among other enforcement actions, appear to constitute systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom.”

Hawley described how a “heartbreaking video” showed Pastor Stephens children “sobbing as they held their father’s hand through the barred window of a police car.”

“Pastor Stephens’ alleged violation was holding an outdoor worship service in a park, which was apparently discovered by a police helicopter flying overhead,” the senator said.
