Social Justice, Biden Style November 5, 2021 Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the latest proposals from President Biden: In the name of helping families, President Biden wants to reward many of those who broke into our country illegally by making them millionaires. However, American families that are living here legally and elect to place their children in religious child care centers have to wing it on their own. On October 31, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked President Biden “Is it true we’re going to give $450,000 to border crossers who are separated?” Biden simply looked away and scratched his head. On November 3, Doocy said to the president that news reports were surfacing that “your administration is planning to pay illegal immigrants who are separated from their families at the border up to $450,000 each, possibly a million dollars per family. Do you think that might incentivize more people to come over illegally? Biden took umbrage at Doocy’s comment, accusing Fox News of “sending that garbage out,” adding that “it is not true.” After rhetorically raising the question that Doocy asked, he flatly said, “That’s not going to happen.” What Biden calls “garbage,” however, is the official policy of his administration. It’s just that he was the last to find out. Now, like the obedient soul he is, he’s on board. On November 4, Doocy asked Karine Jean-Pierre, Deputy White House press secretary, about the $450,000 prize for illegal aliens. She said the president was “perfectly comfortable” with that decision. Doocy then asked, “what changed, from yesterday” when Biden said, “That’s not going to happen?” She skirted his question, choosing instead to blame Trump for creating this problem. Biden’s professed interest in child care is well documented. Speaking of his big social spending bill, he said in August, “Child care is personal to me—that’s why I’ve put it front and center in my Build Back Better Agenda.” On October 26, he said of this bill, “Every American family deserves access to high quality, affordable child care.” This is a lie. On pp. 1399-1400 of the 2,468 page Build Back Better Act, H.R. 5376, it addresses child care for religious entities. “A recipient of funds under this subsection may not use the funds for modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities that are primarily used for sectarian instruction or religious worship or in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission.” In other words, Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims and Mormons who place their children in a child care center of their faith are not entitled to any assistance.   The words “child care” are cited 370 times in the bill. The legislation is allowing $400 billion in child care and preschool, but religious child care centers will not get a penny. The bottom line is clear. Bust into our country illegally and you stand to become a millionaire. Put your kid in a religious child care center, and you’re on your own. This is the face of social justice, Biden style.

(Campaign Life Coalition) – Some Canadian funeral homes have begun offering rooms where the consenting sick and the elderly can be killed prior to their wake and burial.

These new killing facilities are now able to offer an all-in-one package — death, wake, burial — thanks to the country’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) protocol that has been legal since 2016, and was expanded in 2021 to include people suffering with mental illness.

Paul Needham of Northview Funeral Chapel in London, Ontario, told CBC News this week that he had been receiving so many calls to provide a place for people to be killed that he finally decided to take advantage of the opportunity. He began to offer rooms for rent at his funeral home where the old and the sick could come to be killed, either by their own hand, or, more commonly, with the assistance of a doctor or nurse.

In the past year alone, Needham’s funeral home has facilitated the killing of 23 sick and old people.

“Family members can be right there with their loved ones,” Needham told CBC News. “I suggest they can make it how they want it, bring some of your favourite music, bring flowers, bring some food or if you like, bring a bottle of wine. This is this person’s last day on Earth. You want to take everything into account and consider as many things as possible.”

David Mullen, owner of A. Millard George Funeral Home in Ontario, has also noticed the trend and has converted his former casket showroom into a beautifully decorated killing room where friends and family members can be with the victim during his or her death. He hopes to have everything up in running by the new year.

Darcy Harris, professor of thanatology (study of death and dying) at King’s University College in Ontario, said that this next step for funeral homes makes sense.

“Funeral homes are usually very nicely appointed and the staff are service-orientated and are comfortable talking about death,” she told CBC News.

While MAID is now legal in Canada, that certainly does not make it right or moral. Euthanasia and assisted suicide, no matter how pretty the room and how flowery the legal language that surrounds it, is the deliberate killing of the sick and elderly.

Western nations are founded on the belief that life is sacred and no one but God alone has the right to take life. Nations that allow some citizens to kill other innocent citizens, for whatever reason, have collapsed morally. A collapse of morality can only result in social anarchy and the eventual collapse of that nation.

 

Funeral homes are supposed to be places where our beloved dead can be remembered, honoured, and given our last respects prior to burial. They should never become execution sites for the sick, elderly, and those suffering with mental illness, who have been misinformed that euthanasia is a solution to their problems. Killing vulnerable people, no matter what the reason, is always wrong and against God’s law.

What the sick and the elderly need are relationship, love, and compassionate care, not someone deliberately cutting their life short.

Funeral homes should stick with the honourable work of burying the dead, which is a true work of mercy, not facilitating the killing of vulnerable people.

A society is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable. Did we care for them, or kill them?

On October 31st we exclusively revealed how an investigation of the USA’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) found extremely high numbers of adverse reactions and deaths have been reported against specific lot numbers of the Covid-19 vaccines numerous times, meaning deadly batches of the experimental injections have now been identified.

That investigation also led to the discovery that 130 different lot numbers of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine distributed to more than 13 states, harmed on average 639 times more people, hospitalised on average 109 times more people, and killed on average 22 times more people than the 4,289 different lt number of Pfizer vaccine distributed to 12 states or less.

However, the most shocking finding of the investigation was that 100% of Covid-19 vaccine deaths reported to VAERS with identified lot numbers had been caused by just 5% of the batches produced. But the deeply troubling findings don’t end there, because we decided to conduct further analysis of the VAERS data on the Covid-19 vaccines, and we’ve discovered that the majority of the deadliest batches were clearly sent to Republican controlled red states across the USA.

Historical Roots of the St. Gallen Mafia

Reading this book is as exciting as reading a novel, but everything in it is documented with a rigorous historical method. This aspect deserves to be underlined at a time when certain conspiracy theories are exposed in a superficial and sometimes fanciful way. To make up for a lack of evidence, theories such as these use a narrative technique, which appeals to the emotions more than to reason, and enwraps those who, with an act of faith, have already decided to believe the improbable. Julia Meloni instead tells the story of a real conspiracy, of which she accurately exposes the end goal, the means, the places, and the protagonists. It is the story of the “St. Gallen Mafia,” to use the term coined by one of its main exponents, Cardinal Godfried Daneels (Karim Schelkens and Jürgen Mettepenningen, Gottfried Danneels, Editions Polis, Anvers 2015).

St. Gallen is a Swiss city, where in 1996 Bishop Ivo Fürer — who until the year prior was the secretary general of the Conference of European Bishops — was bishop. In agreement with Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini (1927-2012), Archbishop of Milan (pictured above left), Bishop Fürer decided to invite a group of prelates to establish an agenda for the Church of the future. The group met for ten years, between 1996 and 2006. The key personalities, in addition to Cardinal Martini, were Walter Kasper, Bishop of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, and Karl Lehmann (1936-2018), Bishop of Mainz, both of whom were destined to receive the red hat as cardinals. Subsequently, two other future cardinals were co-opted: Godfried Danneels (1933-2019), archbishop of Malines-Brussels and Cormac Murphy-O’Connor (1932-2017) archbishop of Westminster (pictured above right). They were joined in 2003 by the Cardinal of the Roman Curia Achille Silvestrini (1923-2019), thanks to whom the St. Gallen group became a powerful lobby, capable of determining the election of a Pontiff. A few days after the funeral of John Paul II, at the invitation of Silvestrini, the “St. Gallen Mafia” met at Villa Nazareth, in Rome, to agree on a plan of action in view of the next conclave. In a photograph that appeared in The Tablet of July 23, 2005, next to Cardinal Silvestrini, one sees Cardinals Martini, Danneels, Kasper, Murphy-O’Connor, Lehmann, all “key members and alumni of the St. Gallen mafia,” as Julia Meloni writes (p. 5).

The initial plan was to elect Cardinal Martini to the papal throne, but starting in 1996, the year of the creation of the group, the Archbishop of Milan began to feel the first symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. In 2002 the cardinal made the news public, passing the baton to Cardinal Silvestrini, who from January 2003 was directing the maneuvers for the next conclave. Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor was in turn linked with Cardinal Jorge Maria Bergoglio, Archbishop of Buenos Aires, and presented him to the group as a possible anti-Ratzinger candidate. Bergoglio received the consent of the “mafia”, but it was Cardinal Martini himself who had the greatest doubts about his candidacy, in light of the information he received about the Argentine bishop from within the Society of Jesus. It was perhaps with relief that, when in the conclave of 2005 Bergoglio’s defeat seemed certain, Cardinal Martini announced to Cardinal Ratzinger that he would make his votes available to him. The St. Gallen group held a final meeting in 2006, but Martini and Silvestrini continued to exert a strong influence on the new pontificate. In 2012, Cardinal Kasper spoke of a “southerly wind” blowing through the Church, and on March 17, 2013, a few days after his election, Pope Francis unsurprisingly cited Kasper as one of his favorite authors, assigning him the task of opening the extraordinary Consistory on the Family in February 2014.

Pope Francis, however, has disappointed progressives no less than he has irritated conservatives, and his pontificate has seen, after eight years, an inexorable decline. However, if the main exponents of the St. Gallen Mafia are dead, its modernist spirit hovers over the synodal process, while new maneuvers are underway for the next conclave. Julia Meloni’s book, which reconstructs the history of this “Mafia,” helps us understand the dark dynamics that agitate the Church today. In the fall of 1980, I received a visit from a priest of the Roman Curia, Msgr. Mario Marini (1936-2009), not yet fifty years old, intelligent and full of verve. The priest had been a collaborator of Cardinal Giovanni Benelli (1921-1982) and was concerned about the conquest of key positions in the Vatican by those who had been Benelli’s enemies and who were thriving in the shadow of Cardinal Agostino Casaroli (1914-1998), John Paul II’s Secretary of State.

Between 1980 and 1981 I had numerous meetings with Msgr. Marini, in which he explained to me in great detail the existence of what he called a “Mafia” that surrounded John Paul II, elected in 1978 to the papal throne. This Mafia had its “gray eminence” in Msgr. Achille Silvestrini, shadow and alter ego of Cardinal Casaroli, who had succeeded him in 1973 as Secretary of the Council for Public Affairs of the Church: the same Silvestrini that Julia Meloni presents to us as the “mastermind” of the Mafia of St. Gallen.

Silvestrini was an intelligent but intriguing man who had represented the Holy See in the conferences of Helsinki (1975), Belgrade (1977-78) and Madrid (1980), though he never had the diplomatic experience of a nunciature. Like many post-conciliar prelates, he was above all a politician who liked to shed his curial robes for confidential meetings outside the apartments he occupied in the Vatican. The vaticanistas appreciated his willingness to pass on confidential information, even if his information, equally distributed to the right and left, cunningly mixed lies and truth. In international politics he was aligned with the positions of Monsignor Luigi Bettazzi, Bishop of Ivrea, in favor of the policy of unilateral disarmament; in domestic politics he supported the line of the Christian Democrats who were more “open” towards the Italian Communist Party. He cultivated in particular relations with Giulio Andreotti and was head of the delegation of the Holy See that in 1985 would ratify the disastrous New Concordat with the Italian State. Through Msgr. Francesco Brugnaro, current archbishop emeritus of Camerino, Silvestrini was in close contact with Carlo Maria Martini, archbishop of Milan, but not yet a cardinal, whose future destiny he sniffed out. All this was twenty-five years before the “St. Gallen Mafia.”

I agreed with the priest to bring to light this information, which was also transmitted to John Paul II, through Dr. Wanda Poltawska, who was also aware of many things through her friendship with Cardinal Edouard Gagnon (1918-2007), a friend of the Msgr. Some of these revelations were published by the magazine Impact Suisse, by Si Si No No and by the Courrier de Rome. Forty years have passed since then and I am pleased to remember the figure of Msgr. Mario Marini, a priest who has always served the Church with apostolic zeal, and who was among the first to denounce the existence of a “Mafia” within it. Did Francis, in a Backhanded Way, Endorsed Universal Access to Abortion, Again? & is there a Francis Pattern in GoodCatholicBidengate to Barroslettergate to Lettergate to Hellgate?

It’s always funny to see Francis conservative Catholics comically falling over backwards jumping through hoops to defend Francis’s latest backhanded seeming way of endorsing universal access to abortion. The latest example is the Catholic Thing website’s take on GoodCatholicBidengate:

The pope may have not expected this – one hopes he didn’t expect it – but to anyone with even a passing familiarity with how these things play out in American media and American politics, it’s the least surprising thing in the world. The president received the papal seal of approval – “Good   Catholic. . .keep going to Communion” – and then resumed his previously scheduled campaign for abortion without missing a beat.

One wonders if the pope is aware that the U.S. Supreme Court is as close as it has ever been to overturning Roe v. Wade (imagine: a developed country actually rolling back the abortion license) and that he is, more than ever, perceived as an ally of the Church’s primary opposition and counter-witness in that fight…

… One wonders if the Holy Father knows this. Does he know that the model of engagement he advocates has been the pastoral status quo (with few exceptions) for more than 40 years, and that Biden (and others) have used that interminable dialogue as a pretense for using their Catholic faith as political cover for promoting abortion. Francis on September 1, 2016 said he was “gratified that on September 2015 the nations of the world adopted the Sustainable Development Goals” which calls for universal access to abortion.

Does this means that Francis is “gratified” about universal access to abortion because he made no qualifying exception to abortion in his endorsement then or to this day?

Does the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals really plan universal access to abortion?

Goal 6 of the United Nations (UN) Substantial Development Goals (SDG) states that nations must:

“Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights.”

The UN Conference in Cairo in 1994 said “abortion (as specified in paragraph 8.25)” is a “basic component of reproductive health care services.”

In simple words, Francis, in a backhanded way, endorsed universal access to abortion.

Internationally known sex abuse expert, investigator and Attorney Elizabeth Yore at the 2016 Fatima conference in Chicago said the Francis endorsement was no surprise.

The papal approval of the UN plan for universal access to abortion and its population control scheme was planned and orchestrated well in advance by wealthy global elites according to the investigator and attorney.

At the Fatima conference Yore gave a speech that was really a presentation of the enemies battle plans and then she gave a battle cry.

On YouTube you will find her speech called “An Unholy Alliance: the UN, Soros, and the Francis Papacy.”

All Catholics need to hear her battle cry.

Here is the most important part of her speech which I hand typed with my two fingers as Tolkien said:

A tectonic shift in the political landscape. A thunderclap warning to the progressive, far-left wokeism now prevalent in Washington, D.C.

And for the GOP, a clear path to a successful political future opened up last night with a big tent coalition of Trumpers, supply-siders, free-enterprisers, suburbans, and minorities.

For Joe Biden, a crushing defeat, essentially a rejection of his so-called transformational agenda and his overall executive competence.

Biden waltzed through Virginia several times – so did Kamala Harris, so did various Biden luminaries, so did Barack Obama – all to no avail. Virginia voters turned their backs on them. 

Complete rejection. Governor-elect Youngkin.
Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears, a great American story of a female, Jamaican immigrant, up from the ranks in the Marine Corps, in business with her Marine husband. 

AG Miyares, the first Latino attorney general in Virginia history.

And the Republicans even won back the Virginia House of Delegates. This is a political ticket made in heaven, an extraordinary coalition. Of course, mainstream media won’t see it that way.

But it is a complete and utter rejection of all the woke racial criticisms that the left constantly levels at Republicans despite the absence of any facts. This state-sweep in the ol’ Confederacy is a total rejection of wokeism and critical race theory.

The left wants to talk race. So, let’s talk race. Take a look at this triumphant, Virginia political coalition. I call it the “new America.” call it “the new Republican Party.” I call it the political future.

And across the country, in New Jersey, for example, a single issue dominated the governor’s race: a tax revolt. And an unknown, unfunded – election night analysts could barely find him on the screen – nearly defeated a rich, abundantly funded left-wing, Democratic, Goldman Sachs governor who scoffed at the tax issue and other criticisms of his administration [and] nearly lost. And the race still ain’t decided.

Not to mention, a freelance truck driver spent $153 to unseat a powerful entrenched, incumbent, labor union leader known for forcing higher and higher taxes – the president of the New Jersey State Senate got whooped by 2,000 votes. That’s right, this truck driver revolution cost $153 to beat the political establishment.

Meanwhile, “abolish the police” lost in Minneapolis.

The Soviet Union in Seattle elected a female Republican District Attorney.

The Socialist City Council in New York City doubled its Republican membership.

And the new city mayor, Eric Adams, who ran in support of the police, in favor of education choice, against high taxes, who was once a registered Republican, won going away. Adams by the way campaigned hard against the Socialist wing of the Democratic Party. How ’bout them apples?

Back to Virginia, the number one issue in the Fox News Voter Analysis showed the economy was the number one issue: 35%.

And let’s not forget Glenn Youngkin ran on a platform to cut gasoline and grocery taxes. He unflinchingly backed parents in schools. And fought off false flag, racist attacks from the Democrats and their allies.

Now, I have no idea if the Democratic leadership in Washington – Biden, Schumer, Pelosi, the left-wing progressives, the big government socialists – will learn from yesterday’s election results. But here’s what I think I do know: As long as the Dems go woke, they will lose. Big time. In next year’s midterms. Big time. And that surely opens the door to a GOP president in 2024.

Make no mistake about this. Tuesday’s voter results were a complete repudiation of the ideological transformation of the Democratic Party in favor of big government, socialism, cancel culture, cancel history, racial divide, high tax, income redistribution, and inflationary government spending. That entire agenda was on the ballot Tuesday and was soundly trounced.

So now we’ll face the goings-on in Capitol Hill to see if any lessons were learned. And once again, I renew my mantra: Save America. Kill the bill.

The Left may not wish to admit it, but the fortunes of a once moribund Donald Trump of January 2021 have now largely recovered—even before the stunning gubernatorial victory of Republican Glenn Youngkin in Virginia. 

How and why? 

One, Joe Biden did not, as dishonestly advertised, prove to be good Ol’ “Lunch bucket” Joe. He was no moderate from Scranton. Instead, Biden has served as the clueless gun barrel through which hard-core leftists fired off the most unpopular agenda in memory. 

Open borders, huge deficits, the Afghanistan catastrophe, looming stagflation, empty shelves, bottlenecked ports, soaring energy prices, toxic critical race theory, the disastrous previews of the Green New Deal, a weaponized federal government, and the addled decline of Biden himself have done more than just collapse support for the president and his policies.  

More importantly, Biden’s string of catastrophes endangers the very stuff of life, from the ability to afford gas to finding goods on the shelves. 

Two, for 10 months, Donald Trump has been stripped of all his social network outlets. The progressive Silicon monopolies thought they had silenced the once omnipresent Trump. 

But their muzzles had unintended consequences. The less Trump was on social media, the more the public remembered his good policies rather than his controversial tweets.

Three, Donald Trump was as responsible or not responsible for COVID-19 deaths as is Joe Biden. On Biden’s watch, more have died each day on average from the disease than during Trump’s tenure from the start of the pandemic. 

Contrary to Biden’s ungracious boasts, Trump is to be credited with the successful vaccination rollout. And the Florida model of Governor Ron DeSantis, not the New York and California model of ongoing near-complete lockdowns, did far less economic and social damage with no more—and in some cases fewer deaths per capita. 

Four, Trump’s low point—the January 6 Capitol rampage—was not, as the Left propagandized, a preplanned conspiratorial “armed insurrection,” and the evidence against that narrative is now becoming apparent. 

The FBI found no conspiracy at the heart of the violent entry into the Capitol. 

No one inside the Capitol itself was arrested for the use or possession of a firearm. Officer Sicknick tragically died of natural causes a day after the riot, not at the hands of Trump supporters as was claimed.

The initial headlines of five dead due to the “insurrection” were completely false. Four died of either natural or accidental causes. The fifth, the diminutive, unarmed military veteran Ashli Babbitt, died due to the questionable decision of an officer to shoot an unarmed suspect. 

Five, Trump’s supposed rantings often proved prescient rather than mad. Radical iconoclasts really did move on to attacking the monuments and statues of Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington. 

The Russian collusion hoax really was a massive fraud. The only collusion was between the media, Hillary Clinton’s campaign, and the FBI to destroy a Republican presidential campaign. 

Joe Biden’s family really was engaged in a grifting enterprise that used Biden’s office to leverage quid pro quo money from foreign governments. 

Hunter Biden’s laptop was really his own—and not a product of “Russian disinformation.”   

As a result, a resurgent Trump is considering another presidential run. Most Republicans want him to run. They welcome a return of his successful pre-pandemic policies and a leader who does not fear the unhinged Left. They believe Joe Biden reversed the Trump agenda and brought misery. Trump promises to restore it and bring back prosperity. 

But Youngkin showed that he could push Trump’s populist agenda, keep the MAGA base, and yet also win back independents—mainly as a Trump-like candidate, but one who gets even with, rather than mad at, the Left.

So, at the crossroad of the Republican pathway back to power, there are plenty of known unknowns. 

Would possible presidential candidates like Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis, former Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo advance the MAGA agenda, but without the fireworks and distractions? 

Or would they prove similar to a once impressive Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker—who nonetheless fizzled on the 2016 campaign stage?  

Or would a battle-scarred and wizened veteran Trump now outsmart rather than merely outrage his enemies by picking his targets more carefully? 

Can Trump, like Youngkin, win back suburbanites and independents to achieve a 51 percent majority—something no Republican presidential candidate has achieved in 33 years?

Or could his less carnivorous rivals of the status quo be able to keep the Trump base from sitting out the election as they did in 2008 and 2016? 

Would Trump ever be content with becoming the senior statesman basking in the credit of rebooting the Republican Party from a stereotyped wealthy white corporate party into a populist-nationalist movement of the middle class of all races and ethnicities?  

Or will Trump redo 2016, bulldoze to the nomination, go for the jugular of the now hard-left Democratic Party, clobbering his way to a 2016-like Electoral College victory—or a defeat that others who copied his agendas might have avoided?

Here we are in the closing months of 2021, experiencing the most disastrous presidency since that of James Buchanan. Do we even remember life before COVID-19, when the Jacobinism of the Left was so looney, so venomous that its very contradictions and toxicity once upon a long time ago helped to keep it bay?

Then came the annus horribilis of 2020 that retaught us of dangers of the unchecked power and incompetence of the administrative state and unaccountable influential institutions, whose DNA was absorbed by wokism.

As demonstrators and violence raged throughout America in the spring, summer, and autumn of 2020, those unelected leaders in our state agencies, media, and corporations offered no solutions. Instead, the Disney corporation (always to be counted on to refute the legacy of its founder and to pile on—in hopes of monetizing—any cultural fad of the moment) announced its new partnership with Colin Kaepernick. It did not seem problematic that the ex-quarterback had just announced the Fourth of July to be a “celebration of white supremacy.”

Give Kaepernick credit, the more his once so-so athleticism wanes, the more distant his fading football career, all the more so he embraces new brands of hucksterism to get richer by damning the U.S. and profiting from his Nike endorsements, so compromised by the sneaker company’s use of Chinese forced labor. One wonders whether he would demand of his new Disney employers to review their library of past Walt Disney movies, cartoons, and television shows to remove or destroy those archives deemed racist since May 25, 2020.

University presidents loudly virtue signaled to students and alumni all sorts of campus names that would be changed, statues and commemoratives that would be removed, new diversity coordinators to be hired, racial theme houses to be built, safe spaces to be added, novel diversity programs and rebooted curricula to be created. They offered several concessions to appease the protestors and cultural revolutionaries—except tuition discounts to their indebted students who now took their courses remotely online and stayed home the spring, summer, and fall of 2020, with no access to the university dorms, meal plans, health centers, counseling services or sports, entertainment, and social events. Yet heretofore universities had boasted that such on-site enrichment was the much heralded unique “college experience,” supposedly completely to be replicated by Zoom or Skype or lesser trade schools and internet colleges.

There were few plans for tuition refunds, or future discounts for such radically reduced services. Instead, indebted students were told essentially that many sports and activities in 2021 would be cut. College tuition and room and board costs would increase. Classes would be conducted electronically. Students should avoid campus and stay home. Large funds could rarely be taken from the endowment fund to tide the university over until good times returned—and yet there would be vast new expenses incurred to accommodate the demands of Black Lives Matter and its various affiliates. The question was no longer how the universities were doing but would any even survive as they had been in the immediate years to come.

More strangely in 2020, university presidents during the nation’s rioting following the death of George Floyd deplored the “systemic racism” that they had apparently just discovered on their campuses. These were odd public confessions given colleges had been certifying for years to the federal government that there was no racism in their midst, and thus they had met all government civil rights mandates contingent for continued state aid. Were they lying before George Floyd or after his death or both?

The unelected functionaries in government soon joined the revolutionary movement. The deep state did its part to conform to the new revolutionary orthodoxy. The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture put on display the toxic elements of “whiteness”:

“Whiteness (and its accepted normality) also exist as everyday microaggressions toward people of color. Acts of microaggressions include verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs or insults toward nonwhites. Whether intentional or not, these attitudes communicate hostile, derogatory, or harmful messages.”

The government agency then listed toxic white traits that contribute to systemic racism. They included “rugged individualism,” “the scientific method,” “the Protestant work ethic,” “the nuclear family,” following “rigid time schedules,” and speaking “the King’s English.”

Oddly, most Americans could point to such traits as being essential to millions of non-white Americans, who would resent any inference that they are the domain of any particular ethnic or racial group. Indeed, there is an entire corpus of research that identifies common shared cultural traits among quite disparate groups—having nothing to do with race—that seem to foster upward mobility in diverse societies both at home and in globalized economies. So, was the Museum of African American History and Culture secretly carrying out the directives of white supremacists circa the 1950s, who dreamed up the strategy of targeting African Americans to persuade them that all the traits that had led every one of every race to upward mobility would solely and exclusively hamper black progress?

Predictably, the Revolution even began devouring its logical sympathizers. Once progressive icon Mark Zuckerberg was under assault because his multi-billion-dollar social media empire would not censor ads and messaging from Donald Trump, and thus faced even corporate boycotts of a suddenly politically incorrect Facebook. Zuckerberg learned that there is no appeasing the Jacobin guillotine, even if later he would donate over $400 million to help warp the 2020 presidential voting. Such penance was seen by the Left as proof of his obsequious nature to be further exploited rather than applaudable rectification.

When about 150 liberal celebrities, authors, and intellectuals signed a letter in Harper’s pleading with their progressive brethren to allow the unfettered expression of ideas and to desist from the cancel culture, the left attacked them—claiming they were exercising white privilege by stifling the voices of the oppressed under their bourgeois pretense of “free speech.”

What we are now witnessing is the typical cannibalism of a leftwing revolution, which fed off the chaos of 2020 but was all the hungrier for more flesh of its own. All the would-be revolutionaries who paused to think that they could barter with the hard left, could seek a bought exemption here and there, could appeal to classical liberal ideas of tolerance and free speech, or, like Kerensky Russian socialist aristocrats, could use their money to bend the trajectory of the Revolution, will only more quickly be devoured for their betrayal of Jacobin principles. 

2020–21 reminded us that no one is more hated by Bolsheviks than a 90-percent Bolshevik.

Not only does the vax efficacy decrease over time, as predicted, but it appears to cause harm. As is not unexpected. It is designed to cause harm, as all vaccines are. The hope was the harm would be short lasting. This does not seem to be so.

Even pro-vaccine Wesley J. Smith, who is the chairman of the Discovery Institute’s Center on Human Exceptionalism, admits “We now know that the vaccinated become infected and spread the disease. That materially weakens a major argument in favor of mandates” and also admits it could “have Catastrophic Consequences” on New York City which may soon to be called “the Big Stinky” instead of the Big Apple:

Then there’s the supply chain crisis. The last thing we need is vaccine mandates that will further tighten the already squeezed labor pool needed to remedy the problem—particularly of truck drivers, of which there are already some 80,000 fewer than needed to move goods from our logjammed ports.

That’s why big business and labor union lobbyists are pressing the administration to delay mandates until after Christmas. Especially worrying: The National Trucking Association has warned that “37 percent of drivers” are expected to refuse the jab, “through retirements, resignations and workers switching to smaller companies not covered” by the Biden mandate.

It’s not just the private sector. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio chirpily announced his own mandate for city employees not too long ago. It has not gone well. The New York Post just reported, “The FDNY shuttered 26 fire companies citywide on Saturday due to staff shortages caused by the COVID-19 vaccination mandate, according to furious elected officials, who ripped the move as ‘unconscionable’—and warned it could have catastrophic consequences.”

Meanwhile, jab-resistant cops are still working while city bureaucrats review requests for medical and religious exemptions. But if thousands of police officers decide to bail rather than jab, New York’s crime wave will only get worse. Then there are the thousands of sanitary workers who face layoffs because they haven’t yielded—meaning the Big Apple could soon be known as the Big Stinky.

Health care is also suffering from mandate-itis. Thousands of health care workers have been laid off, forcing some hospitals to restrict service. We should also take note that hospitals, once in the vanguard of the mandate movement, have recently balked, with only 42 percent now having imposed vaccination requirements on employees.

Let me be clear. I am not anti-vaccine. Indeed, I completed my two-shot dose last March and, based on my doctor’s recommendation, plan to soon receive a third shot.

But in free societies, mandates must be reasonable—and a national diktat fails that test.

• A national mandate is unprecedented. Even during the smallpox and polio epidemics, the federal government didn’t impose vaccine requirements on the entire population.
• Biden is empowering a corporatocracy: the federal government attempting to harness the private sector to enforce its policy prescriptions on individuals. That’s the last thing liberty needs.
• People who recovered from COVID have natural resistance. That being so, it is unreasonable to require those with antibodies to involuntarily inject substances into their bodies.
• Testing can be an effective safeguard. If we had ready access to easy testing, the heat over vaccines could decrease because infected people could quarantine, people with comorbidities could be sure that everyone who came into their home tested negative, and new infections would be prevented. But there currently is a shortage of ready testing. So how about an Operation Warp Speed to manufacture COVID-19 tests instead?
• Vaccine efficacy declines over time. That is why the CDC urged all the vaccinated to get another dose. Are we going to keep roiling the country with mandate after mandate if the vaccines provide an ever-declining benefit?
• Vaccinated people can spread the disease. We now know that the vaccinated become infected and spread the disease. That materially weakens a major argument in favor of mandates.
• People who choose to go unprotected are primarily risking themselves. Vaccines reduce—but do not eliminate—the chances of experiencing serious illness or death. Allowing the unvaccinated to face that increased risk knowingly is more reasonable than violating their personal autonomy by forcing them to get jabbed.
• Vaccines aren’t risk-free. The risk posed by the vaccine is not nonexistent. For example, a small number of young people have experienced myocarditis and pericarditis, potentially serious conditions that cause chest pain, shortness of breath, heartbeat fluttering, and so on, after taking the vaccine.
• In a free society, moral objections matter. Millions of us have moral objections to the vaccine. Should our government compel dissenters to be inoculated? No! That’s not the American way.

What would an alternative policy look like? Urge people to take the vaccine and continue to explain why it’s a good idea without exhibiting a derisive attitude or using divisive spokespeople like Anthony Fauci. Welcome reasonable dissenting opinions so that people know they have had a chance to hear fully from all sides. Be honest about what we don’t know and when scientific understandings shift—as they always do—be candid about what changed and why.
