Bishop Joseph Brennan Blasts “Catholic” Politician Who Voted to Fund Planned Parenthood: Abortion is Not Catholic

Councilman Miguel Arias, who professes to be a devout Catholic, and who voted for the funding of planned parenthood, is now subject to the canonical penalty of excommunication, but it is not known whether or not the bishop is considering it.

Fresno Bishop Joseph Brennan called out a local Catholic lawmaker last week for voting to spend $1 million tax dollars to help Planned Parenthood expand abortions.

California Catholic Daily reports Brennan published the open letter Sept. 2 after the Fresno City Council voted to give $1 million to the abortion chain Planned Parenthood. Mayor Jerry Dyer vetoed the spending measure, but the council overrode his veto.

Among those who voted in favor of the abortion funding was Councilman Miguel Arias, who professes to be a devout Catholic.

According to Brennan’s letter, Arias brought up his Catholic faith to defend his pro-abortion actions and criticized Catholic leaders for not doing enough to help the poor. Several council members also claimed that opposing abortion is just a religious issue.

“Respectfully, I think both contentions are false,” Brennan responded. “I feel it is my responsibility to stand up for the record of Catholics and other Christians in the Valley in serving the poor, and to stand up for the rights of religious people to express their views in public debate.”

The bishop said Christians are working hard to serve the poor, and Fresno Catholic Charities alone helped 250,000 people last year, providing food, clothing, shelter for the homeless and more.

Even more people received help from the Fresno Mission, which provides rehabilitation services and shelter, and the Obria Medical Clinics of Central California, a pro-life organization that offers prenatal care, ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, baby supplies, parenting classes and more to families in need, he continued. The bishop highlighted evangelical Christian missions in the city, too.

Brennan said he invited Arias to join him at the Fresno Catholic Charities to “see a small glimpse of what his church is doing to support women, children, and families in need.”

Being pro-life is not just a Christian belief either, Brennan continued. He said people of many different religions and philosophies oppose the killing of innocent human beings, including those not yet born.

“The inviolability of human life is a universal truth that everyone, Christian or otherwise, can discern from observing our shared human nature,” the bishop said. “… such principles are embedded in our very being.”

And just because Christians hold a certain belief does not make it exclusively religious, he continued.

“Dr. Martin Luther King’s advocacy of racial equality was not illegitimate because of his Christian faith,” Brennan said. “His beliefs inspired him to protect the universally knowable truths of fundamental human equality and fraternity. In the same spirit, my brother Christians and I advocate for the lives of unborn children to have equal protection in our society.”

Because he supports “fundamental human equality,” Brennan said he believes public funding should be used to help people in need, not kill them before they are born.

Justice Neil Gorsuch, who sided with the Supreme Court’s majority in Dobbs to overturn Roe v. Wade says he believes the report on the Dobbs Leaker will finally be released soon.

National  |  Steven Ertelt  |   Sep 9, 2022   |   10:52AM   |  Washington, DC

Months have passed since someone leaked the draft of the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade and Americans still have no idea who was behind the first leak of a Supreme Court decision in the history of the chamber.

When the draft of the Dobbs decision was made public and reported on by the news outlet Politico, Chief Justice John Roberts issued a statement confirming the leaked draft of a Supreme Court decision overturning Roe was genuine and he said the nation’s highest court would launch an internal investigation about the leak.

Yet almost 130 days have passed with absolutely no information.

Now, Justice Neil Gorsuch, who sided with the Supreme Court’s majority in Dobbs to overturn Roe v. Wade says he believes the report will finally be released soon.

Gorsuch spoke before a group of lawyers and judges Thursday in Colorado Springs at the 10th Circuit Judicial Conference in comments that were his first public statements following the ruling.

“The chief justice appointed an internal committee to oversee the investigation,” Gorsuch said. “That committee has been busy, and we’re looking forward to their report, I hope, soon.”

Fox News confirmed the comments first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Multiple sources previously told Fox News that the investigation into the approximately 70 individuals in the court who may have had access to the draft opinion has been narrowed. Sources say much of the initial focus was on the three dozen or so law clerks, who work directly with the justices on their caseload.

As LifeNews reported, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, with a 6-3 majority ruling in the Dobbs case that “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion” — allowing states to ban abortions and protect unborn babies. The high court also ruled 6-3 uphold the Mississippi 15-week abortion ban so states can further limit abortions and to get rid of the false viability standard.

Chief Justice John Roberts technically voted for the judgment but, in his concurring opinion, disagreed with the reasoning and said he wanted to keep abortions legal but with a new standard.

Texas and Oklahoma had banned abortions before Roe was overturned and Missouri became the first state after Roe to protect babies from abortions and South Dakota became the 2nd. Then Arkansas became the third state protecting babies from abortions and Kentucky became the 4th and Louisiana became the 5th and Ohio became the 6th and Utah became the 7th and Oklahoma became the 8th and Alabama became the 9th. This week, Mississippi became the 10th and South Carolina became the 11th,Texas became the 12th with its pre-Roe law and Tennessee became the 13th.

Michigan, Wisconsin and West Virginia have old pro-life laws on the books but there is question about whether they are applicable and will be enforced.

Ultimately, as many as 26 states could immediately or quickly ban abortions and protect babies from certain death for the first time in nearly 50 years.

The 13 total states with trigger laws that would effectively ban all or most abortions are: Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

“Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives,” Alito wrote.

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences,” Alito wrote. “And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division.”

Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Stephen Breyer authored a joint dissent condemning the decision as enabling states to enact “draconian” restrictions on women.

Polls show Americans are pro-life on abortion and a new national poll shows 75% of Americans essentially agree with the Supreme Court overturning Roe.

Despite false reports that abortion bans would prevent doctors from treating pregnant women for miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies, pro-life doctors confirm that is not the case. Some 35 states have laws making it clear that miscarriage is not abortion and every state with an abortion ban allows treatment for both.

How do we know if Francis is a Antipope or Heretical Pope and; What can be Done?

Posted onJuly 30, 2019byCatholicism Pure & Simple

From THE CATHOLIC MONITOR

It appeared to me a few days ago that the former highest doctrinal authority in the Church, ex-Prefect of the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Gerhard Muller admitted that Francis could be a antipope.

Remember that only an antipope when he speaks “ex cathedra” can speak what is “invalid” because the false pope’s papacy is invalid.

LifeSiteNews reported that Cardinal Muller said:

“‘[I]f he [Francis] spoke ex cathedra… make[ing] possible the ordination of women… in contradiction to the defined doctrine of the Church,’ he continues”

“‘It would be invalid,’ he adds.”
(LifeSiteNews, “Cardinal Muller: No pope or council could permit female deacons, ‘it would be invalid,” Friday July 26, 2019)

Steven O’Reilly at Roma Locuta Est who always bends over backward to be fair and cover all angles showed the Vatican I background to my assertion a few days ago of the Muller statement. Moreover, he added that it could, also, mean Francis is a heretical pope:

“However, as Catholics well know, this poses an obvious difficulty.  Vatican I defined the dogma of papal infallibility in the following terms (emphasis added):

‘…the Roman Pontiff, when he speaks ex cathedra, that is, when carrying out the duty of the pastor and teacher of all Christians in accord with his supreme apostolic authority he explains a doctrine of faith or morals to be held by the universal Church, through the divine assistance promised him in blessed Peter, operates with that infallibility with which the divine Redeemer wished that his church be instructed in defining doctrine on faith and morals; and so such definitions of the Roman Pontiff from himself, but not from the consensus of the Church, are unalterable.’  (Pastor Aeternus cited in Fundamentals of Catholic Doctrine, Denzinger, 1839)”

“In addition, this definition is followed by a canon, which states: ‘But if anyone presumes to contradict this definition of Ours, which may God forbid: let him be anathema’ (Denzinger 1840).

Clearly, a faithful Catholic will note the seeming disconnect between what Pastor Aeternus defined infallibly, and what Cardinal Müller said above. But, the Cardinal is no dummy as to suggest ex cathedra statements can be disregarded. This suggests, to me at least, a hidden, unstated and inescapable implication in the Cardinal’s statement, as well as being an indication of how he and other Cardinals are now privately viewing Pope Francis–though this is speculative.”

“There is only one way, in logic at least, for a Catholic to accept Vatican I on papal infallibility but reject a heretical declaration that seemingly meets the formal conditions of being ex cathedra.
Given that a true pope is protected by the Holy Spirit from teaching an error ex cathedra, it follows that if a man, seemingly “pope,” were to teach something which denies or conflicts with a known truth of the Catholic Faith it must be either (1) the man thought to be “pope” was never a true pope to begin with, or (2) the man thought to be “pope” had, at some point in the past, alreadyfallen through heresy or apostasy from the Petrine office. Those are the logical implications as I see them. Whether these are intended by the Cardinal or not with respect to Francis, in such a hypothetical scenario as he outlined, I cannot say.”

“If this a fair analysis, it may suggest the Cardinal and at least a few others in the Sacred College are actively considering one of these options to be a real possibility in the case of Pope Francis. If nothing else, it certainly is a shot across the bow of Pope Francis. It does suggest, along with other statements from the likes of Cardinal Brandmuller, that some in the “resistance” are reaching the point where they can bend no more. So, after so many years, we may be reaching a decisive moment.”

If “the Cardinal and at least a few others in the Sacred College are actively considering one of these options to be a real possibility in the case of Pope Francis,” it seemed proper to go over how and why Francis might be a antipope or a heretical pope.

We will start with why he may be a antipope:

Bishop Rene Gracida  and others have convincingly demonstrated that there is valid evidence that Pope John Paul II’s conclave constitution “Universi Dominici Gregis” which “prescribe[d].. [the] method for the election of his successor(s)” was violated and must be investigated by Cardinals. If, after the investigation, Francis is found to be a antipope then a new pope would have to be elected after Benedict XVI’s resignation is investigated to see if his resignation was valid. If Benedict’s resignation was invalid then he would either have to resign validly or remain pope until his death.

Getting back to the topic of violation of “papal election procedures,” renowned Catholic historian Carroll explicitly says that what matters in a valid papal election is not how many cardinals claim a person is the pope. What is essential for determining if someone is pope or antipope is the “election procedures… [as] governed by the prescription of the last Pope”:

“Papal election procedures are governed by the prescription of the last Pope who provided for them (that is, any Pope can change them, but they remain in effect until they are changed by a duly elected Pope).”

“During the first thousand years of the history of the Papacy the electors were the clergy of Rome (priests and deacons); during the second thousand years we have had the College of Cardinals.”

“But each Pope, having unlimited sovereign power as head of the Church, can prescribe any method for the election of his successor(s) that he chooses. These methods must then be followed in the next election after the death of the Pope who prescribed it, and thereafter until they are changed. A Papal claimant not following these methods is also an Antipope.”

“Since Antipopes by definition base their claims on defiance of proper Church authority, all have been harmful to the Church, though a few have later reformed after giving up their claims.”

Next, why might Francis be a heretical pope:

As Muller asserted “No… Pope alone, if he spoke ex cathedra, could make possible the ordination of women as bishop, priest, or deacon. [He] would stand in contradiction [of] the defined doctrine of the Church. It would be invalid.”

In other words, if Francis taught heresy that contradicted Church defined doctrine he would be a antipope or a heretical pope. A antipope and, apparently in
O’Reilly‘s view a heretical pope, when he speaks “ex cathedra” can speak what is “invalid” because the false pope’s papacy is invalid. Muller wrote:

“The Magisterium of the Pope and of the bishops has no authority over the substance of the Sacraments (Trent, Decree on Communion under both species, DH 1728; Sacrosanctum Concilium 21). Therefore, no synod – with or without the Pope – and also no ecumenical council, or the Pope alone, if he spoke ex cathedra, could make possible the ordination of women as bishop, priest, or deacon. They would stand in contradiction the defined doctrine of the Church. It would be invalid. Independent of this, there is the equality of all baptized in the life of Grace, and in the vocation to all ecclesial offices and functions for which exercise the Sacrament of Holy Orders itself is not necessary.” (On the Synodal Process in Germany and the Synod for the Amazon by Cardinal Gerhard Müller, text posted by LifeSiteNew, 7/26/2019)

Doctor of the Church St. Francis de Sales totally confirmed beyond any doubt the possibility of a heretical pope and what must be done by the Church in such a situation:

“[T]he Pope… WHEN he is EXPLICITLY a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church, and the Church MUST either deprive him, or, as some say, declare him deprived, of his Apostolic See.”
(The Catholic Controversy, by St. Francis de Sales, Pages 305-306)

Saint Robert Bellarmine, also, said “the Pope heretic is not deposed ipso facto, but must be declared deposed by the Church.”

The renowned scholar Arnaldo Xavier de Silveira who was one of the top experts in modern times of the subjects of papal validity and heretical popes gave a brief overview of his authority on this matters:

“In the 1970 Brazilian edition of my study of the heretical Pope, in the French edition of 1975 and in the Italian in 2016, I stated that on the grounds of the intrinsic theological reasons underpinning the Fifth Opinion I considered it not merely probable but certain. I chose not to insist on the qualification ‘theologically certain’ for an extrinsic reason, namely, that certain authors of weight do not adopt it.43 This was also the opinion of the then Bishop of Campos, Bishop Antonio de Castro Mayer, as expressed in a letter of 25th January 1974, when he sent my work to Paul VI, asking him to point out any possible errors (which never took place), expressly stating that he referred to the study ‘written by lawyer Arnaldo Vidigal Xavier da Silveira, with the contents of which I associate myself .’”

Here is what de Silveira says in his book “Implications Of New Missae And Heretic Popes (Page 176)” on the subject of heretical popes:

“Conclusion

“Resuming: We believe that a careful examination of the question of a Pope heretic, with the
theological elements of which we dispose today, permits one to conclude that an eventual Pope heretic would lose his charge in the moment in which his heresy became ‘notorious and publicly divulged’.”

“And we think that this sentence is not only intrinsically probable , but certain , since the reasons
allegeable in its defense appear to us as absolutely cogent. Besides, in the works which we have
consulted, we have not found any argument which persuaded us of the opposite. ”

“(1 ) The second opinion referred by Saint Robert Bellarmine – See pp. 1 56 ft.

(2) The first subdivision proposed by us to the fifth opinion referred by Saint Robert Bellarmine – See p. 170.

(3) The second subdivision which we proposed to the fifth opinion – See p. 170.

(4) The third subdivision which we proposed on the fifth opinion. – See p. 1 70.

(5) The fourth opinion referred by Saint Robert Bellarmine . – See pp. 161 ff.

(6) We transcribe that long argumentation on pp. 1 64 ff. – See also note 2 of p. 1 64.

(7) One ought not to see shades of conciliarism in the principle that ecclesiastical organisms, as the Council, can omit a pronouncement declaring the eventual cessation of functions of a Pope heretic, as long as these organisms do not claim for themselves any right other than that enjoyed by any one of the faithful. For motives of mere convenience or courtesy, it could behoove these organisms to make such a declaration, in the first place; but this priority would not constitute for them a right of their own, or even less exclusive.” [https://archive.org/stream/SilveiraImplicationsOfNewMissaeAndHereticPopes/Silveira%20Implications%20of%20New%20Missae%20and%20Heretic%20Popes_djvu.txt]

Finally, Dr. John R. T. Lamont, philosopher and theologian, explains the procedures of how Francis’s papacy could cease if he is declared a heretical pope by the Church:

“Some… argue that the dubia and other criticisms of Amoris Laetitia that have been made already suffice as warnings to Pope Francis, and hence that he can now be judged to be guilty of the canonical crime of heresy…”

But for juridical purposes – especially for the very serious purpose of judging a Pope to be a heretic – they do not suffice. The evidence needed for a juridical judgment of such gravity has to take a form that is entirely clear and beyond dispute. A formal warning from a number of members of the College of Cardinals that is then disregarded by the Pope would constitute such evidence.”

“The possibility of a Pope being canonically guilty of heresy has long been admitted in the Church. It is acknowledged in the Decretals of Gratian There is no dispute among Catholic theologians on this point – even among theologians like Bellarmine who do not think that a Pope is in fact capable of being a heretic…”

“It is to be hoped that the correction of Pope Francis does not have to proceed this far, and that he will either reject the heresies he has announced or resign his office…”

“Removing him from office against his will would require the election of a new Pope, and would probably leave the Church with Francis as an anti-Pope contesting the authority of the new Pope. If Francis refuses to renounce either his heresy or his office, however, this situation will just have to be faced.”

Stop for a moment of silence, ask Jesus Christ what He wants you to do now and next. In this silence remember God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost – Three Divine Persons yet One God, has an ordered universe where you can know truth and falsehood as well as never forget that He wants you to have eternal happiness with Him as his son or daughter by grace. Make this a practice. By doing this you are doing more good than reading anything here or anywhere else on the Internet.

About

After Federal Judge Blasts the DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE the Corrupt Agency Continues to Violate the Decision of the Court and disclose the content of the files.

The FBI’s shocking attack on Donald Trump continues to rage. The agency tried to stop a judge from selecting a neutral third party to review the documents they stole from Mar-a-Largo.

But the main focus of the left’s claims against 45 is that his keeping of classified documents was a threat to the country. Those documents should have gone to the government, where they would have been safe.

Bull. For years, Trump held onto those documents. And nobody saw them. But the moment the FBI got its greasy hands on these “top secret” docs, they started leaking to the press.

In fact, the federal judge overseeing this case rebuked the DOJ for leaking so much. But only days after she blasted them, they did it again.

Just days after a Florida judge scolded the feds about leaks in the wake of the FBI’s raid of former President Trump’s Florida home, anonymous sources have again spilled secrets damaging to Trump…

“For the same reasons — chiefly, the risk that the Government’s filter review process will not adequately safeguard Plaintiff’s privileged and personal materials in terms of exposure to either the Investigative Team or the media — Plaintiff has sufficiently established irreparable injury,” Cannon wrote…

In a footnote in her decision, Cannon said she had queried the DOJ about the leaks, which started immediately after the raid and included unsubstantiated claims Trump had nuclear secrets and a photo of documents spread out on the floor of Trump’s home. [Source: Daily Wire]

Are you serious!? When Trump held onto these documents, they were literally kept under lock and key. There was little chance anyone outside of Trump would see them (unless you think Trump was willing to had top secret documents to the liberal media).

But the moment the FBI took those documents, they started leaking to the Washington Post. And just days after Judge Cannon rebuked the DOJ for doing this, they did it again. Once again, the Washington Post claims unnamed sources told them something about the documents Trump had.

Previously, the Washington Post wrongly claimed that Trump was holding onto nuclear weapons documents–and that was the reason for the raid. But the search warrant made no mention of such documents, proving that to be a lie.

Now, the same outlet is pushing more claims, possibly from a DOJ agent who can’t keep his mouth shut.

Are we really going to believe these documents are safer in the hands of corrupt idiots with a political agenda? Trump had no reason to leak this information to the public. As president, he declassified all this information but kept it secure.

Biden’s DOJ is so sloppy, so corrupt, that they’d accuse Trump of the very things they are guilty of.

But we are supposed to believe Trump is the enemy here?

THE ILLITERATE, ILLICIT, INSANE, INCOMPREHENSIBLE, INFANTILE, INSULTING ATTACKS ON QUEEN ELIZABETH AND ENGLAND

Left-Wing Assault On Queen Elizabeth

September 9, 2022

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on reaction to the death of Queen Elizabeth:

The reaction of left-wing professors and pundits to the death of Queen Elizabeth is exactly what we would expect. They are filled with hate and rage. Here are ten examples.

“I heard the chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating. That wretched women and her bloodthirsty throne have f***ed generations of my ancestors on both sides of my family, and she supervised a government that sponsored the genocide my parents and siblings survived. May she die in agony.” Carnegie Mellon University professor Uju Anya

“Why are American news networks dedicating all of this time to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral? I think it’s a good question. I think there is a weakness in the American character that still yearns for that era of hereditary privilege, which is the very thing that we escaped from.”

MSNBC political analyst Richard Stengel

“We should not romanticize her era.” The queen put a “stolid traditionalist front over decades of violent upheaval,” and her image helped to “obscure a bloody history of decolonization.” “She was, of course, a white face on all the coins, notes and stamps circulated in a rapidly diversifying nation.”

Harvard professor Maya Jasanoff

“Journalists are tasked with putting legacies into full context, so it is entirely appropriate to examine the queen and her role in the devastating impact of continued colonialism.”

Atlantic writer Jemele Hill

“As the first generation of my family not born in a British colony, I would dance on the graves of every member of the royal family if given the opportunity, especially hers.”

Rhode Island School of Design professor Zoé Samudzi

“The British Empire was a colonizing empire. Which made her a colonizer Queen. Part of her legacy is that colonization. It is the atrocities that were committed in the name of Queen or country during the colonizing period.”

MSNBC pundit guest Shola Mos-Shogbamimu

“The way I wish newspapers would write: ‘Colonizers lost one of their most beloved foot soldiers as Queen Elizabeth II, 96, mostly known for f***sh** and racism.'”

Huff Post pundit Stephen Crockett Jr.

“Black and brown people around the world who were subject to horrendous cruelties and economic deprivation under British colonialism are allowed to have feelings about Queen Elizabeth. After all, they were her ‘subjects’ too.”

Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah

“Remember that you do not have to be ‘respectful’ today for a person running an institution that killed millions of people abroad and which, until recently, banned Black people from working around the Queen.”

Digital Media pundit Heidi Moore

“Telling the colonized how they should feel about their colonizer’s health and wellness is like telling my people that we ought to worship the Confederacy.”

University of Michigan professor Ebony Thomas

These people are badly educated. The Queen had nothing to do with any of the alleged crimes they attribute to her. Furthermore, the human rights record of many former British colonies makes England’s rule look angelic. Yet none of these writers ever have anything to say about that, anymore than they do when black men kill black men and women. That’s because their inherent racism does not allow them to treat Africans and African Americans as equals.

None of this invective is really aimed at Queen Elizabeth. It is what she symbolizes that gets their goat, and that, of course, is Western civilization, the font of liberty and equality. It was the Europeans—not those from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia—who gave us the human rights principles that have allowed us to move forward, despite obvious past failures to achieve them.

None of these human rights achievements would have been possible absent our Judeo-Christian heritage. This is one more reason the queen’s harshest critics have become so deranged—they hate our heritage, and they especially loathe Christianity.

God bless Queen Elizabeth and the civilization she represented for so many years.

The United States obsesses over whether biological men can compete in women’s sports as transgendered males.

Crime is spiking at levels not seen in 40 years. But it is considered racist to suggest that arrests, indictments, convictions, and incarcerations deter crime.

Major U.S. downtowns almost overnight went from mostly safe and clean to terrifying and toxic—and we brag that we are at least “tolerant” of the medieval conditions.

The Pentagon and CIA put out recruitment videos that sound like kindergarten diversity, equity, and inclusion programming.

Yet the military is less eager to explain why the United States met utter humiliation in Afghanistan or why the army only has met about 50 percent of its scheduled recruitment targets.

Few dare to attribute declining morale, inept strategic thinking, and anemic recruitment to the stereotyping and targeting of middle-class white males, Soviet-style workshops, and diversity, equity, and inclusion mind conditioning.

The Biden Administration in its first 18 months warred on the U.S. oil and gas industry. Radical cutbacks in fossil fuels supposedly would “transition” the world to a greener future.

Biden expressed little worry about the resulting economic damage to the middle class or the lack of commensurate efforts in India and China to curb emissions.

During COVID American popular culture has collectively demonized any who were lax on masking and social distancing as “super spreaders.”

Federal employees and military personnel who skipped the new mRNA COVID-19 inoculations on grounds the shots were not fully vetted, were stereotyped as red-state conspiracist super-spreaders. They were accused of endangering all Americans by their supposedly selfish behavior.

Yet there has been no such judgmental criticism of individual conduct during the current monkeypox outbreak.

Given the loud woke media, few would dare suggest that social distancing, or avoiding areas where promiscuous sex is frequent might slow down the dangerous epidemic—95 percent of whose cases so far have been sexually transmitted between men with recent multiple partners.

The daily stuff of tabloids is cancel-culturing, virtue signaling, and suing over race and gender.

Recently, the woke movement may have jumped the proverbial shark when a family filed a $25 million lawsuit against Sesame Place Philadelphia. One of the guilty theme park’s costume character actors apparently missed seeing a young African-American girl in the crowd reaching out for a hug.

The American middle class is learning just how much poorer they are after suffering a collective $3 trillion stock loss in retirement accounts.

For some reason, their stocks pummeled despite Wall Street’s past loud commitment to politically correct Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment. That new woke idea puts green, racial, and gender issues ahead of profit and loss investment calculations—at least for the declining middle class.

ESG may be a permissible luxury in a bull market, but it can help to ruin millions of lives in a bear market.

The new “anti-inflation” budget bill manages to increase federal spending in times of inflation while upping taxes and regulations during a recession.

Interest rates must climb far higher to slow down spiking prices. But the higher they go, the harder it is to service the gargantuan $30 trillion—and climbing—national debt.

Our enemies abroad, particularly China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia, are watching all this woke, comic madness with absolute glee.

They are delighted the United States is diverting trillions of dollars and man-hours away from production to ideological witch hunts, woke cannibalism, green virtue-signaling, spendthrift consumption, racial and gender fixations, warped science, suicidal surveillance, and commissariat indoctrination.

Woke means that Americans have less money, labor, and time to hone their military readiness. They will produce less competitive energy, but more pseudo-science, non-meritocratic advancement, and unsound investment—all the reasons why America will no longer dominate the world.

Most analysts abroad do not believe that being woke translates into more accurate missiles, more lethal infantrymen, more efficient industrial production, better medicine, cheaper, more plentiful energy, a more united, cohesive population—and a higher standard of living.

So, our unwoke adversaries certainly want us to stay woke.

And why not? Russia already has better hypersonic missiles and more nuclear warheads.

China can likely sink any $12 billion American aircraft carrier and its 5,000 diverse “they/them” crew that dares to venture into the Taiwan strait.

Beijing already produces 90 percent of U.S. antibiotics and nearly as large a percentage of our key vitamins and painkillers.

India and Brazil do not want any more pot-to-kettle U.S. lectures on their need for better elections and racial relations.

While we war on our past, our competitors abroad prep for the future.

They are more likely to erect than tear down statues. We spend what we borrow; they invest what they earn.

How odd America once taught the world what works—only now to mock its own lessons.

It would’ve been one thing to use the Marines as props if this were a somber Memorial Day speech or an inspiring Independence Day address. But it wasn’t. It was a dark, divisive, fascistic, blood-red, Third-Reichy rant; an ugly, vicious, utterly unpresidential screed from Joe Biden, and he had no business co-opting and dragging the United States Marine Corps into it.

Indeed, as constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley noted: “The Marine Corps expressly forbids personnel from being used or participating in political events.” Turley then cited Department of Defense Directive 1344.10, which includes among its many prohibitions the attending of “partisan political events as an official representative of the Armed Forces.”

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” said Joe Biden early on in his abominable speech last Thursday night.

That was the moment.

Joe Biden would go on to use the term “MAGA Republicans”12 more times, but that very first utterance was the moment we wished those Marines, the ones who’d been disgracefully positioned behind the president, had simply said, “Enough,”and had broken their ceremonial parade-rest position, grabbed the board of ribbons and medals on their blue dress uniforms, ripped them off, thrown them to the ground, executed a smart facing movement, and exited the stage.

If only.

They’d have been in big trouble, of course, but they’d have made a resounding statement for decency, and they’d have been heroes to the 75 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump and were thereby smeared by Joe Biden.

Not even the networks fell for it. They saw it as purely political speech rather than a substantive address to the nation, and they refused to even air it.

Remarkably, the normally nasty CNN anchor Brianna Keilar saw it too: “Whatever you think of this speech,” she tweeted, “the military is supposed to be apolitical. Positioning Marines in uniform behind President Biden for a political speech flies in the face of that. It’s wrong when Democrats do it. It’s wrong when Republicans do it.”

Keilar’s CNN colleague, Jeff Zeleny, said much the same thing: “There’s nothing unusual or wrong with a President delivering a political speech — it’s inherent in the job description — but doing it against a backdrop of two Marines standing at attention and the Marine Band is a break with White House traditions.”

Good for them. But then came the invective from the Left. “You are clearly a shill for the RNC,” said one Twitter respondent. “Your sheets are showing,” said another. “They should be fired tonight,” said an unhinged Keith Olbermann.

All this could’ve been avoided, though, had Biden simply kept his word.

It was August 29, 2020, when the then-Democratic presidential nominee virtually addressed the National Guard Association of the United States general conference by putting words into Trump’s mouth about using the military to dominate “your fellow citizens for exercising their right to peacefully protest.”

But that wasn’t all Biden said. He also said, “We’re so much better than this. You deserve so much better.” He then called the separation between civilian and military powers “the bedrock principle of our republic.”

And he promised “It’s been tested lately, but I promise you, as president, I’ll never put you in the middle of politics or personal vendettas,” Biden said. “I’ll never use the military as a prop or as a private militia to violate rights of fellow citizens. That’s not law and order.”

But that’s exactly what Biden did last Thursday night. He used the United States Marine Corps as a prop.

And, once again, he lied to the American people.

Despite assurances by his spokes-parrot Karine Jean-Pierre that it was “not a political speech,” it was nothing but political, and we now know why all but a few cable channels, predictably CNN and MSNBC, rejected Biden’s primetime diatribe it was too much for even his most fawning and sycophantic Leftmedia talking heads and scribes to tolerate. Notably, even his leftist Demos have been oddly quiet about this one, as have Republicans, the latter preferring instead to let Joe fry in his own rancid oil.

What Biden’s Speech Revealed

The Demos’ midterm “hate and division

strategy is now in full bloom.

By: MARK ALEXANDER

The Patriot Post

September 6, 2022

Last week, Joe Biden delivered the most stridently partisan and hate-filled presidential speech in my lifetime. I covered his tirade in “President ‘UNITY™!’ to Rescue the Soul of America!”

Some people become more docile as they descend into dementia; others become angrier. But Biden did not write the words he read and he did not arrange the venue, which is to say his puppeteers prepped his vitriolic hate and division remarks with a deliberate strategy: Keep the spotlight on Donald Trump rather than the Biden administration’s failures to rally his unhinged leftist base ahead of the midterm elections. Most low-info Demo voters don’t possess the ability to discern between Biden’s lies and reality.

And that strategy is working.

Biden’s polling and the Left’s midterm prospects started recovering after the Mar-a-Lago search and seizure. Make no mistake, Biden may be noncompos mentis, but his socialist handlers are masters at tactical manipulation of public opinion and successfully running campaigns on hate and division, as they demonstrated in the 2020 election.

Since his low approval benchmark of 36.8% at the end of July, Biden is now at 42% approval. As political analyst John Podhoretz notes: “Biden wants Trump angry, and loud, and silencing every other voice but his own. It’s not an accident that Biden’s rise and the Democratic enthusiasm surge have come in tandem with Trump once again at the top of the American news agenda over the past six weeks. Biden knows he won in 2020 by successfully making the election a referendum on Trump. Nothing would make him happier than having the 2022 election continue in that vein.”

The latest Wall Street Journal poll shows that independents, who favored Republicans by 12 points when Trump was out of the news, now prefer Democrats by three points, a 15-point swing.

So, what Biden said and, more importantly, what he didn’t say in his Philadelphia remarks provide an outline of the Democrats’ campaign strategy over the next nine weeks until Election Day.

Indicative of the Demos’ priorities, here are the number of times Biden repeated keywords: “Republicans” 16, “MAGA” 13, “Elections” 11, “Violence” 10, “Extremism” 6, and “Unity” 2.

And here are some key words Americans care most about: “Inflation” 0, “Debt” 0, “Crime” 0, “Border” 0, “Immigration” 0, “Fentanyl” 0, “BLM” 0, “Terrorism” 0, “China” 0, “Russia” 0, “Iran” 0, and, of course, “Afghanistan” 0.

Oh, and Kamala Harris: 0.

Regarding her claim that Biden’s speech was “not political,”Jean-Pierre now claims: “Standing up for democracy is not political.”

Notably, Biden mentioned “Democracy” 32 times while mentioning “Republic” only twice. Political analyst Scott Johnson concluded: “I think the anti-Constitutional gist of it can be summed up in three words: ‘I, the People.’ Biden’s 32 references to ‘democracy’ reflect not so much a misunderstanding of, but rather a fundamental disagreement with, our constitutional set-up.” The speech was supposed to be about the “soul of America,” but he mentioned that only once. Biden did mention “I” 44 times.

A day after Biden claimed “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic,” when asked if he thought “all Trump supporters were a threat to the country,” Biden responded, “I don’t consider any Trump supporter a threat to the country.”

Biden added: “I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence, fails to condemn violence when it’s used, refuses to acknowledge an election has been won, insists upon changing how we rule and count votes, that is a threat to democracy.”

So just exactly who “calls for the use of violence” and who “fails to condemn violence when it’s used”? Oh, that is more projection of Democrat strategy — you know, the Party that unleashed a record surge of violence that has yet to subside, promoting a pre-2020 election “summer of rage” featuring its radical Black Lives Matter and Antifa constituents.

And for Biden, to “insist upon” the most rudimentary requirement for voting, the global standard of producing an ID to ensure election integrity constitutes “a threat to democracy.” In fact, it constitutes a threat to the systemic election fraud Democrats would like to implement nationwide.

As for those who question the 2020 election results — about half the country — Biden has forgotten the fact that he and many Demos are on record as “election deniers.”

Trump trolled Biden after his speech with his own rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, but this one was attended by thousands of MAGA Republicans — uh, I mean, “thousands of threats to democracy” — unlike Biden’s sparsely attended event there last week. Trump had some words for Biden: “Someone should explain to Joe Biden, slowly but passionately, that MAGA means, as powerfully as mere words can get, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! If he doesn’t want to Make America Great Again, which through words, action, and thought, he doesn’t, then he certainly should not be representing the United States of America!”

Yesterday, Biden was doubling down on his hate and division strategy at a Labor Day event in Milwaukee. As a heckler was being bounced from that venue, Biden said, “Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.” He has certainly demonstrated that.

And on the subject of his idiocy, here is a collection of observations from political analysts on Biden’s latest “hate and division” platform:

“In his soul-crushing ‘soul of the nation’ speech, the president threw half the country back into Hillary Clinton’s basket of deplorables. Anyone who refuses to go along with his radical agenda that’s bankrupting the country is a threat. Anyone who stands up for religious liberty is an extremist. Anyone who is a voice for voiceless and vulnerable unborn babies is a danger to democracy. That’s the picture Biden painted of America. But his illustration of our country and her people couldn’t be more disconnected from reality. The truth is this speech was a feeble attempt to distract American voters from Democrats’ abysmal record heading into the midterms. … Americans are tired! Tired of the constant attacks. Tired of being told that their traditional values are extreme. Tired of being told to hate their neighbors or themselves. It’s time to turn the page on this cynical playbook of division. Our country is in desperate need of leaders who boldly tell the truth about who we are and who we can be.” —Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC)

“Hard to imagine a speech with less self-awareness than the one Biden gave. The exact opposite of what our country needed — in tone, appearance, and substance. This man simply isn’t fit to lead.” —Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX)

“If [Joe Biden] had delivered this speech about the leaders of China or Russia or Iran or transnational Islamist terrorist groups, last night’s speech would be universally praised as a rousing rallying cry and metaphorical call to arms against a dangerous enemy. But in this speech, the enemy is … other American citizens. Also, he wants to unite the country.” —Jim Geraghty

“Last week, President Biden stole a trillion dollars from the U.S. Treasury. Last night, dressed as a villain from a Disney-era Star Wars flick, he had the temerity to cast himself as a defender of the U.S. Constitution.” —Charles C.W. Cooke

“For the White House press secretary to say that this speech was not going to be political is pretty remarkable. This speech essentially was a convention speech.” —Bret Baier

“Joe Biden controls the House, the Senate and the White House (Big tech, the legacy media, the NGOs, the universities and Hollywood) but blames MAGA Republicans for his problems.” —former acting DNI Richard Grenell

“Biden’s speech at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall on Thursday was one of the most remarkable in living memory. By ‘remarkable,’ I hasten to add that I do not mean ‘good.’ On the contrary, it was a breathtaking act of what the psychoanalysts call ‘projection,’ blaming others for the bad things you do yourself. It was a malignant act of demagoguery. … Joe Biden’s speech will soon be forgotten. But the malignant and divisive spirit it conjured up will not easily be quelled. Joe Biden just declared war on half the country.” —Roger Kimball

“Once resigned to a huge loss, some Democrats now believe the party has a chance to keep control of the House and Senate. … Democrats are happy that Trump’s profile, always high, has risen even higher as the midterm campaign gets underway in earnest. … The true darkness in Biden’s speech came in his long attacks on Trump and Trump’s supporters…” Byron York

A string of clichés interspersed with bile.” —Miranda Devine

“There is nothing even remotely fascistic about the Party of Lincoln. Fascists use violence to achieve their ends. Biden and his party refused to condemn the BLM/Antifa riots of 2020, when business districts across the country went up in flames and murders were committed in the name of racial justice.” —Don Feder

To call it a hateful speech doesn’t do justice to its awfulness. The promise of an address on the soul of our nation and the setting of Philadelphia’s Independence Hall suggested it would be an appeal to our better angels. Instead, with lurid red lighting and two Marines standing at attention to serving as props, Biden delivered a 24-minute screed that was disjointed, rancidly partisan, and, at heart, a declaration of war against those Americans who do not support him.” —Michael Goodwin

(For the record: The Marines ordered to stand behind Biden as military props were not at “attention” or “parade rest,” as the media keeps insisting. In fact, their position is not one recognized by the Marine Drill and Ceremonies Manual. However, the Marine Barracks at 8th and I Street has some non-standard ceremonial positions, and I am thinking this one is called “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.”)

The Biden team has more or less been using this vitriol since coming to power but they had been disinclined to say the ‘secret part’ out loud. … His team is desperate and out of options. Their hope is to slander anyone who doesn’t support them in lockstep as being an enemy of the state.” —Kevin McCullough

“Yes let’s listen to the people who want to castrate children, execute infants minutes before birth, abolish the police and put pornography in elementary schools about the dangers of extremism. They are experts on the subject after all.” —Matt Walsh

“That was the most demagogic, outrageous, and divisive speech I have ever seen from an American president. Joe Biden essentially declared all those who oppose him and his agenda enemies of the republic. Truly shameful. … If you’re pro-life, pro-Constitution, pro-marriage, you’re a traitor.”—Ben Shapiro

“Every time I think Biden and crew can’t be dumber they outdo themselves. Seriously who gives a speech warning people about how dangerous Republicans are to Democracy while having a background that looks like the Soviet Union and Hitler had a baby?” —Dave Portnoy

Finally, a few representative comments from Biden’s media fans…

From the cable network that did, dutifully, cary Biden’s speech: “It was a very, very patriotic speech. This speech, it felt like a reset—like a reset that the president, the administration felt like they needed.” CNN national politics reporter Eva McKend Mind numbing…

BTW, apparently CNN exercised some video magic to tone down the red backdrop. It was even too red for them…

“We’re all parsing The Speech, Joe Biden’s ‘Soul of the Nation’ address about the growing anti-constitutionalism of Republican extremism. … Indeed, I’m not sure it was strong enough. I bristled a bit when the president spoke of the reasonable Republicans with whom he could work. Who are these Republicans? Where are they?” Leftist Atlantic writer Tom Nichols, a hater who, hilariously, authors of its newsletter “Peacefield.”

“The speech last night to me sounded like a president delivering a wartime address. … It’s a battle for the preservation of our democracy. To me, the significant thing was he called out the MAGA Republican officials and followers, who, you know, for whatever motive, under whatever delusion, are going down this authoritarian path, this undemocratic path and trying to take the nation with them. … It was an urgent wartime address.” WaPo columnist and MSNBC talking head Eugene Robinson.

American Greatness

September 4, 2022

There is no end to history. Instead, civilization is a constant fight to embrace what has worked for the common good through the ages—and to reject what in the past has failed abysmally.

Bad and bankrupt ideas, protocols, and ideologies—like McCarthyism, communism, various cults, or fascism—resurface not because of their intrinsic or lasting value or record of success, but because civilizations become less vigilant and allow human vanities, ignorance, arrogance, and evil to reassert themselves.

Joe McCarthy Is Back

Our Tail Gunner Joe (of semi-truck driving expertise and brilliant legal training fame) in a single week smeared roughly half the country as un-American “semi-fascists.”Then in one of the creepiest speeches and background sets in American political history, Joe Biden railed that “Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are a threat to the very soul of this country.” Franklin Roosevelt declared war on Japan in careful, sober, and exacting presidential tones; Joe Biden all but declared war against half his own people like a raving lunatic.

All that was missing from the rant was Biden waving to the crowd a purported list of names of prominent MAGA threats to our collective soul and screaming, “I have here in my hand a list of 205 members of the MAGA Party!”

Yet Biden never quite told us what was subversive about the “MAGA Scare” or wanting to “Make America Great Again.” It was merely a sort of conservative version of George McGovern’s call to “Come home, America.” Both slogans, like Obama’s “hope and change” banality, suggest things were either better before the present or will be better afterward.

Unable to acknowledge this, a more-than-usual angry, snarling, and nearly incoherent Biden screamed his McCarthyesque attack amid an eerie red-and-black lit background, punctuated by two U.S. Marines on guard in the shadows of the red glow. (Gen. Mark Milley was uncharacteristically silent about the use of military props for executive political agendas). The resulting lurid visual effect was a cross between an outtake from “Triumph of the Will”and a bad version of “Phantom of the Opera.”

Biden barked out all sorts of fantasy enemies of the state, as he lumped 75 million people together as a collective existential threat to the soul of America. Left unsaid but understood is what Biden and the “good” other half are supposed to do with such an existential danger posed by millions of their fellow Americans.

Are they to ferret out MAGA supporters in the manner Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin promised to cleanse the Pentagon of mythical white supremacists? Will Biden unleash his new battalions of IRS auditors? Will they call back Mark Zuckerberg to infuse another $419 million of dark money into the ballot counting to absorb the work of state registrars in the upcoming midterms?

Will Biden now recall FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith to alter more government documents, hire another informant such as Clinton lackey Christopher Steele, or round up 50 more intelligence “experts” to swear that Hunter’s next lost laptop is proof of Russian-Trump collusion?

What exactly is fitting preemptive punishment for Biden’s soul-threatening un-American enemies—solitary confinement in a D.C. jail for a year without charges? Leg irons? SWAT teams awaiting them in their driveways? Early morning raids at their houses while they are still in their underwear? Phone grabs while dining out with their wives at restaurants or in airports?

Or will Biden and the Left be content simply to unleash another 120 days of the “good” sort of riots, arson, and protests, while reissuing the 2020 promises of now Vice President Kamala Harris, that they are “not going to stop before Election Day in November, and they’re not going to stop after Election Day?”

To preserve the soul of America, will Biden be content with just following our now progressive norms: screaming out threats to named Supreme Court justices with mobs at the court doors led by U.S. senators? Or mobs massing at the justices’ homes?

Or will the White House continue to ignore assassins who show up in the justices’ neighborhoods? Or will it raid another home of an ex-president? Or use the FBI to retrieve family diaries, lie about embarrassing lost laptops, leverage private social media companies to censor embarrassing stories, or stalk and surveil parents at school board meetings?

To fight such fascistic unicorns, will Biden be recreating his sidetracked government Ministry of Truth? To save democracy, will the Left once more be promising to pack the Supreme Court, junk the Electoral College and filibuster, and supersede state balloting laws? Will he bring out of retirement intelligence pundits James Clapper and John Brennan, known mostly now for lying under oath to Congress?

The Good Ol’ Racism

If we are back in McCarthy’s 1950s, how about a similar return to Jim Crow separatism, racial exceptionalism, and chauvinism? American history from 1776 to 1860 was the story of postponing but not preventing a civil war over race-based slavery. What followed was a century-long attempt to ensure that race did not thwart the newly won constitutional protections of the enfranchised black citizen.

Then the next half-century saw an effort to provide “affirmative action” by offering advantages in hiring and admissions for groups felt to have historically suffered racial discrimination.

In the recent decade, however, we have entered new territory—or regressed to old familiar landscapes—in which racial preferences and discrimination are considered reparatory and thus good.

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision of an integrated society in which race became incidental, not essential to the individual (living in a nation where we will not be judged by the color of our skin but by the content of our character) has now been nullified. It is all but rendered inert. Any scholar in a sociology department of a major university who professed allegiance to King’s notion of a fully integrated and racially blind assimilated society would likely be summarily fired or ostracized.

In place of integration, returns the old racism now cast as “anti-racism,” as if “good” racial discrimination is needed to fight “bad” discrimination.

But the history of racism is just such special pleading about why the latest sort of new discrimination is both needed and justified and thus is no longer the old discrimination. Ask the former Yugoslavians or Rwandans.

So now, at some colleges, dorm residents can select the race of their roommates. At “theme houses,” some races are not even allowed in the door. “Safe spaces” is the 21st-century euphemism for segregation. Special graduation ceremonies exclude students based on race.

To push through the new racism, all logic is suspended. What did it matter that those of the lower classes born in 2005 grew up in the 40th year of affirmative action and had no knowledge, much less any memory, of Jim Crow segregation in the South?

If in the racist “one-drop” past, some blacks desperate for a chance at equal opportunity sought to pass as “white,” so too in our full-circle, racist present, some whites desperate to find either psychic acceptance in “otherness” or more concrete racial advantages in hiring and admissions likewise seek to pass racial barriers, but now as “nonwhite.” Just ask Hilaria Baldwin, Ward Churchill, Rachel Dolezal, Shaun King, or Elizabeth Warren.

It is apparently irrelevant that class is now increasingly divorced from race. Several “minorities,” from Asian-Americans to Arab-Americans, earn more per capita on average than the so-called “white” majority. Certainly, the Obamas, the NBA superstars, and millions of federal employees enjoy more “privilege” than low-income southern or midwestern whites.

Amid such racial chauvinism, we must ignore intermarriage and millions of children of mixed lineages, given Americans are increasingly a hybrid society in which it is impossible to identify people by superficial appearances other than by a resort to DNA badges. In the face of reality slamming into ideology, our best and brightest in academia and government seek guidance in the ridiculous “one-drop” rule of the Old South.

Cultural Marxism—Again

The new racist antiracism must continually find ubiquitous racism to justify its industry of victimization, even where it never appears. No wonder then racialists invented an entire vocabulary for such ghost racism. “Microaggression” is a word to describe the effort of detecting racism that otherwise is undetectable. “Systemic” racism means that when clear evidence of racism is missing, it is only because the entire system is inundated with it as if we cannot see air because it is everywhere.

Woke leftism, the most pernicious of all ideologies in the post-Civil Rights era, is simply the old bankrupt Marxist cant, now superimposed upon race. Any detectable inequality must be attributable to racial or, less commonly, sexual or gender, oppression.

Predictably ossified racial Marxist binaries divide America into victims/oppressed and victimizers/oppressors. All ancient considerations of supposed inequality—luck, inheritance, chance, health, location, individual talent or lack of it, motivation or its absence, the work ethic or its lack of such, culture, traditions, etc.—are rendered meaningless. Instead, the all-knowing, all-powerful government in response must have the force and money to ensure not liberty and equality of opportunity, but a forced equality of result—and by any means necessary.

“Loyalty Oaths”?

The ancient idea of cancel culture—whether tribal banishment, ostracism, scapegoating, witch-burning, blacklisting, or Trostkyization—is back in vogue, despite its antitheses to the U.S. Constitution.

In 1950, good liberals fought “loyalty oaths” in college hiring that required one to profess loyalty to the United States and to disavow belonging to or associating with “subversive”organizations. There were plenty of snitches and sneaks—e.g., rivals for jobs—ready to rat out any professor or actor with youthful communist flirtations.

Today, the new Left requires would-be faculty to swear loyalty not to the state but to the new deity of DEI, or to state just how much they have been so far committed to “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” Should an applicant confess that such sloganeering is antithetical to the King dream of America, he would never be hired, and if hired, risk being fired.

Yet such diversity oaths, vows, and statements are becoming more popular across the existing curriculum and faculty on the theory that the problem with the old McCarthyesque loyalty oaths was not the suspension of individual thought and freedom of belief, but simply that such admirably effective suppression was aimed at the Left, rather than properly as now at the Right.

So, the message at UC Berkeley in 2022 is the same as it was in 1950, some 72 years ago: toe the line, accept orthodoxy, and ostracize the noncompliant—or else you are a DEI apostate and will suffer the consequences!

Nullification Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Under our federal system states are guaranteed the right to make laws and to enjoy powers that are not contrary to the Constitution. In the leadup to the Civil War, “nullification,”or the idea that a state could pick and choose which federal statutes to obey or ignore along with the right to appropriate federal property within its jurisdiction, was considered insurrectionary.

“States’ rights” were once anathema to the Left. It rightly equated them with George Wallace’s 1963 inaugural address promise of “Segregation yesterday, segregation today, segregation tomorrow” as a racist contravention of federal laws.

Not now. The defiant Left could just as easily boast in defiance to the federal government, “Open borders yesterday, open borders today, open borders tomorrow!”

So, federal nullification is also back. Some 550 state and local jurisdictions have declared federal immigration law no longer applicable fully within their domains. They forbid federal immigration authorities to pick up detained illegal alien felons upon release.

“Every Man a King”

Look at Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, Iran or the many failed states of Latin America, Asia, and Africa and the message is clear that statism, communism, and socialism ruin societies and render them impoverished and without freedom.

No matter. In America, radical statists in major cities are doing their best to pass rent-control legislation in Florida. Canceling hundreds of billions of student debt by executive fiat is now a serial federal agenda. Nullifying millions of private rental contracts between landlord and tenant is now in the power of the federal and state government. Each new reconciliation bill is yet another socialist success in upping taxation and redistributing wealth while depriving the individual of freedom, both economic and political.

A $30 trillion unsustainable national debt is no obstacle to printing trillions of new dollars. Apparently, the more money created, the more the poor are likely to have some, and the less the value of the money of those who have too much.

Get Them While They’re Young

Indoctrination, especially of the young, was always considered a tip-off of the totalitarian nature of a regime. The obvious message is that adults would never willingly accept contrary-to-nature communism or socialism—unless they had been brainwashed by it for years.

Critical race theory never polls anywhere close to majority support. Most object to the use of race to discriminate against any group. Consequently, the Left now is using the primary schools to push it based on the idea of exposing and rooting out implied racism as a way of contextualizing asymmetries of student achievement, disciplinary action, attendance, and college trajectories.

Drag queen shows and transgender advocacy are now permissible in schools and welcomed as “pride” days. If, in the old Left calculus, the “children” must be protected from adults who were too eager to strut their sexuality among the presexual, thus imprinting them with imagery and behavior beyond their ability to fathom, now the opposite is true.

Kids have become just smaller adults. They are perfectly able to digest the risqué, the partially nude, the simulated sexual advance, or even act—all as a part of acculturating them from early on, concerning the various sexual identity choices they soon must not only make but discuss and contemplate with groomers and sexual tour guides.

The same paradox of championing and harming children holds true of transformative surgeries and medication unleashed upon the teen and preteen. For a century the Left has warned about profit-minded Big Pharma issuing a stream of dangerous new drugs to a naïve population, or Big Medicine allowing doctors to carve out radical and toxic new optional surgeries to enrich themselves.

So how eerie is it that some of the big pharmaceutical companies could promote the use of regimens of powerful drug cocktails, or the medical profession would green-light disfiguring and noxious surgeries on children? Radical hormonal injections, mastectomies, castration, and genital mutilation are now decisions largely in the hands of adolescents, occasionally without parental consent.

A decade ago, the Democratic Left would have judged that not just unthinkable, but illiberal. For the Left, no “child”should be able to buy a .22-caliber rifle under the age of 21 or to smoke under the age of 18 but certainly is adult enough to decide to amputate her breasts or have himself castrated.

So, in matters of “gender affirmation,” none of the ancient rules apply. If a 12-year-old is convinced that he is gender dysphoric—and suddenly, in faddish-style thousands of such teens are so convinced—then we allow the medical community to inject them with drugs, the radical consequences of which are the stuff of evening televised malpractice commercials from trial lawyers.

When does a child become an adult? When he is cognizant, responsible, and mature enough to have consensual sex—or to agree to be castrated?

We in America are regressing—now returning to the distant neanderthal past, embracing the worst of what the 19th and 20th centuries had to offer. Worst of all, we create such cultural destruction and then call it progress.

Never before in American history has there been a president of the United States who has worked harder to oppose Catholic teachings on marriage, the family, abortion, school choice, conscience rights, and the wellbeing of children (e.g., transgenderism) than President Joe Biden.

Biden Hires Known Enemy Of Catholicism
September 7, 2022
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on President Biden’s appointment of John Podesta:
Never before in American history has there been a president of the United States who has worked harder to oppose Catholic teachings on marriage, the family, abortion, school choice, conscience rights, and the wellbeing of children (e.g., transgenderism) than President Joe Biden. Now he has added to his legacy by appointing a man to a senior position in his administration who is a confessed enemy of the Catholic Church, John Podesta.
On the Friday afternoon before Labor Day weekend, Biden appointed Podesta to oversee his climate policies. Podesta started in the job on September 6.
Podesta served as chief of staff to President Bill Clinton and was chairman of Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential bid in 2016. He founded the far-left Center for American Progress, and has now come out of retirement to man this new post.
Podesta is not merely someone who disagrees with the Catholic Church’s teachings on many issues—he has actively sought to subvert it. We know this because of the Wikileaks revelations made public in 2016.
In 2012, Sandy Newman, founder of the left-wing group, Voices for Progress, asked Podesta for advice on how best to “plant the seeds of the revolution.” The revolution he sought was to sunder the Catholic Church.
“There needs to be a Catholic Spring,” Newman told Podesta, “in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic Church.” (The reference to a “Catholic Spring” in the Church was an allusion to the “Arab Spring” freedom movements in the Middle East.)
Podesta’s reply was priceless. “We created Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good to organize for a moment like this.” He added, “Likewise Catholics United. Like most Spring movements, I think this one will have to be bottom up.”
The Catholic League fought Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Catholics United, both funded by George Soros, tooth and nail for years, exposing them as the fraud that Podesta admitted they were. From the get-go they were nothing but Catholic front groups for those who wanted to take down the Catholic Church from within.
In 2010, Catholics in Alliance closed its doors and ceased to exist, though it gave the appearance of hanging on. In 2013, the IRS revoked its tax-exempt status for failing to file a 990 form for three consecutive years. It was the final nail in the coffin for this dummy Catholic letterhead.
Catholics United hung on for a few more years, and finally went under after the Wikileaks emails went public indicting Podesta and others who conspired with him against the Catholic Church. Podesta, along with Hillary Clinton communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, both claimed that they could not be anti-Catholic because they identified as Catholic.
Here is what I said on October 17, 2016, about that line of defense. “Bigotry is determined by what is said and done,” I said at the time, “and does not turn on biographical data. For example, putting a swastika on a synagogue is no less anti-Semitic if done by a Jew. Similarly, making anti-Catholic statements, or engaging in anti-Catholic conduct, is no less anti-Catholic if done by a Catholic.”
It was also revealed that both Podesta and Palmieri ridiculed News Corps CEO Rupert Murdoch, and Wall Street Journal managing editor Robert Thomson, for raising their children Catholic.
Biden has to know about Podesta’s anti-Catholic record, but it matters not a whit. Nor does it matter to the media. Yet if a Republican president hired a man who deliberately set out to undermine Islam, he would never get away with it.
This latest chapter in Biden’s antipathy for Catholicism makes mince meat out of his professed “devout” Catholic status.
