WORDS OF Jesus Christ FOR US TODAY

Words of Christ

August 23, 2020

“The road to heaven cannot be widened by men because they desire it to be widened so that their sins may accompany them and none must be shed.  There is nothing gained without sacrifice, least of all heaven.  For if heaven is indeed that to which man most aspires, then would not the sacrifice required for admittance be the greatest sacrifice?  Man though was unable, being sinful, to offer the greatest sacrifice, and therefore I offered it for him.  But then shall they count this sacrifice as naught by attempting to bring with them on the journey the very things from which I have freed them?  Although I have made this sacrifice, and although it is complete and perfect, have men not heard the call to abandon sin and to pick up the cross?  For, if arriving at the gates, men carry no cross, how then indeed will they be able to enter into the resurrection?  For a resurrection requires a crucifixion, and how can one be crucified without a cross?

The Essential Scalia To Be Released Soon

By ED WHELAN

August 24, 2020 2:33 PM

If you want to encounter Justice Antonin Scalia’s great legal mind in action, from broad questions about legal interpretation to specific disputes over constitutional provisions, I have just the book for you: The Essential Scalia: On the Constitution, the Courts, and the Rule of Law, co-edited by Sixth Circuit judge Jeffrey S. Sutton and me.

https://i1.wp.com/www.nationalreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/essentialscalia.jpg?resize=199%2C300&ssl=1

Here’s the opening of Justice Elena Kagan’s beautiful foreword to the volume:

In the six years Nino and I served together on the Supreme Court, I held to an unwavering rule. When Nino circulated a new opinion, I would put aside whatever else I was doing to read it. Whether I expected to agree or to disagree, I wanted to know immediately—not in a day or in an hour but right now—what Nino had to say. I wanted to dive into his inimitable writing style. To marvel at the power of his mind. And most important, to take the measure of his ideas.

I envy the reader who has picked up this book, as I once picked up those opinions, not knowing what he or she will find.

The Essential Scalia will be released on September 15—just three weeks from tomorrow—and is available for pre-order now. I’ve just received today an early copy from our publisher and am pleased that the book’s outstanding contents are so handsomely packaged.

As regular Bench Memos readers might have in mind, The Essential Scalia is the third volume of Justice Scalia’s work that I’ve had the privilege of helping to produce. The first two, which I co-edited with Christopher J. Scalia, are Scalia Speaks: Reflections on Law, Faith, and Life Well Lived—a New York Times bestseller—and On Faith: Lessons from an American Believer (which I wrote about here). All three volumes are published by Crown Forum, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

Kamala Harris BRINGS TO AMERICAN POLITICS THE INCREDIBLY COMPLEX S0CIO-ETHNIC-POLITICAL COMPLEXITIES OF HER PARENTS’ NATIVE SOCIETY IN INDIA

Is Kamala Harris Suppressing Her Tambram Origins?

Mukul KesavanOpinionUpdated: August 23, 2020 6:54 am IST

Kamala Harris’s selection as the Democratic Party’s vice-presidential nominee excited Indian Americans. The fact that her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, was an Indian Tamil enthused Indians and Tamils in India and the diaspora. It’s very likely that some Tamil Brahmins were pleased that a Tamil Brahmin’s daughter had made it so far in American politics. A few desis groused that Harris had emphasized her African-American identity at the expense of her Indian heritage.

An Indian American journalist, Sadanand Dhume,  alleged in a recent column in the Wall Street Journal that Kamala Harris “…airbrushes her mother’s community from her story. The words Tamil and Brahmin don’t appear at all.” Since Dhume’s piece is headlined, ‘What Kamala Harris Isn’t Saying About Her Mother’s Background’, the implication that Harris has tried to keep her Tamil Brahmin ancestry quiet is hard to avoid.

It’s an intriguing suggestion and it’s worth taking the column seriously if only to reflect on our relationship with inherited identity. Dhume supplies two possible reasons for Harris’s failure to acknowledge her Tamil Brahmin forbears.  He first concedes that as an American politician, Harris ‘…has no obligation to know about her mother’s ancestral community, much less to recount its story.” This is true. The trouble with this concession is that Harris can’t be reasonably accused of hushing up her Tambram past if she knows nothing about her mother’s origins.

This leaves the reader with the column’s second explanation for the omission: namely, the reluctance of the American Left to recognize the success of the Tamil Brahmin diaspora in the United States because to do so would be to acknowledge that the US is not an oppressive Leviathan, but a land of opportunity where immigrants flourish.

The reference to the Left might confuse Indian readers who have read Harris described as a centrist who is often critiqued by left-wing Democrats for her political history as an aggressive prosecutor. But in the Journal’s op-ed universe where Dhume can declare that India “…adopted socialism in 1947…”, Harris probably does figure as a furious leftist airbrushing her Brahmin past to badmouth America. In the world that the rest of us live in, though, there are simpler speculative explanations for the absence of Tamil Brahmins from Harris’s book.

Kamala Harris might, for instance, have known that most Tamil Brahmins would have had a stroke if a daughter of theirs brought a Black husband home. In her visits to India to meet her maternal grandparents, she might have encountered Tamil Brahmins who let their discomfort with ‘miscegenation’ show. The unreconstructed racism of most middle class Indians towards people of African origin is a fact that every honest desi acknowledges. Shyamala Gopalan was clearly an honourable exception to this rule, as were her parents. Perhaps Kamala Harris saw her Indian grandparents as individual relatives whom she loved and admired, instead of owning them as members of a caste community.

As the daughter of parents who met because of a shared enthusiasm for civil rights activism, Kamala Harris was raised by her mother as a Black girl in a country where African Americans were routinely discriminated against and often formally disadvantaged. We should consider the possibility that Kamala Harris chose to affirm the remarkable inclusiveness of her maternal relatives as her Indian side, instead of embracing the fastidious superiority of their caste community.

Kamala Harris might, for instance, have known that most Tamil Brahmins would have had a stroke if a daughter of theirs brought a Black husband home.

Perhaps she had the intellectual self-awareness to spot the contradiction between identifying as a Black girl in a largely white country and simultaneously affirming her membership of a caste that fetishized light skin and went to extraordinary lengths to argue that it was racially distinct from the non-Brahmin Tamil population in which it was historically embedded. Maybe it was this self-awareness that explains the omission of Tambrams from her book, not some need to ignore the success of the Tamil Brahmin diaspora to demonize America. Remember, Harris chose to attend Howard, a storied, historically Black college, because she wanted the experience of being Black  in an immersive way.

Throughout the column, Tamil Brahmins are described as hereditary priests, as “occupants of the pinnacle of society”, as a group, as a community but never as the caste system’s gatekeepers, or as the principal beneficiaries of a system of birth-ordered inequality that could, at its worst, make apartheid look like the Enlightenment. Tamil Brahmins are described as a caste just once, and that too in passing, while referring to anti-Brahmin movements led by other castes in the twentieth century.

The lay reader of the column could be forgiven for thinking that Tamil Brahmins were a striving community of the hyper-literate best–like the Parsis or the Jews– marginalised and tragically forced to flower in exile by the resentful rest. The closest the column gets to naming the near-monopoly that Tamil Brahmins enjoyed in the professions, in education and in government employment or acknowledging the prejudices that defined their status and propped up their everyday lives, is this prim sentence: “It’s undeniable that Tambrams had advantages, and many of their ancestors held views about social hierarchy that rightly grate on our modern sensibilities.”

My paternal great-grandfather’s considered Tambram views about social hierarchy saw him return for a purifying bath every time a Dalit or ‘pariah’ passed within a dozen feet of him. Whenever Sir Mirza Ismail, legendary administrator and Dewan of Mysore, visited my grandfather at home (who was, by several ranks, his subordinate) he was served coffee in a silver tumbler, not a china cup, because he was a Muslim (or Turka) and anything he drank from had to be cleansed with embers.

j20b7jv8

Perhaps Kamala Harris saw her Indian grandparents as individual relatives whom she loved and admired, instead of owning them as members of a caste community.

My father, who was raised by his grandfather in an agraharam (a Brahmin neighbourhood built around a temple), rejected the old man’s prejudices but remained grateful to him for forcing him as a child into learning Sanskrit, a language he grew to love that sustained him to the end of his days. He tried, as best as he could, to disentangle the literary and religious pleasure that Sanskrit gave him from the thicket of prejudice and learning that constituted brahmanical cultivation.

Dhume faults Harris for noting that her mother won a prize for singing in India without acknowledging that the prize “…was for Carnatic music, a classical art form closely associated with Tamil Brahmins.” It’s almost as if this ‘omission’ is a piece of political furtiveness. In a fine article titled ‘Can Carnatic music be de-Brahminised’, the Carnatic singer, T.M. Krishna, a Brahmin, reflects on his complicated relationship with the classical form that he has made his own. He describes his struggle to see if the core of Carnatic music—raga, tala and text—can sustain itself outside its traditionally Brahmin habitat.

It seems reasonable that an artist should want his art to transcend the ownership of a caste or a community, that Krishna should want to liberate the Carnatic tradition from what he sees as a limiting Brahmanism, despite being a Brahmin himself. This isn’t some strange species of self-hatred, just the basic self-awareness you would expect of a thinking person. What is strange, though, is the spectacle of one American reproaching another for not affirming an inherited claim to caste.

Sin and evil tend to narrow one’s field of vision, leading to myopia and the inability to see things as they are (Truth).

Democratic Convention Wrap-up

Watching the Democratic Convention this week brought to mind the Gospel of Mark Ch. 5, where Jesus performs the exorcism of the demoniac of Gerasens.  The demons (yes, there were many who possessed the man) pleaded with the Lord to allow them to go into a nearby herd of swine rather than return to Hell (they know all too well what happens there, but that is a subject for another time!)

Jesus quickly obliges, and the demons appear relieved for a moment perhaps incredulous that they seem to have prevailed against the Son of God… just before they rush down the hill and into the sea to drown – – and THEN return to Hell.

How long could this have taken? Maybe a minute or so? Tells you a lot about Hell! They really wanted to stay out of there, even for an extra minute!  An undesired consequence, one way or another. But I digress. Sin and evil tend to narrow one’s field of vision, leading to myopia and the inability to see things as they are (Truth).

Certainly, I am not judging anyone’s salvation. My only point is that the nomination of Joe Biden, and his VP choice Kamala Harris could not have been worse for democrats.  They didn’t mean to, but they just couldn’t help it.  Call it Divine Providence, wherein God always ensures that our Free Will choices (always remaining perfectly free) ultimately and always subordinate to the Divine Will of Almighty God.  If they only understood this!

A friendly warning to Trump-haters: Be careful what you wish for!

PS – Time to start planning what you will do with all the free time on your hands that will be made possible by the upcoming cancellation of the debates…and don’t forget to wear a mask.

NO ONE SHOULD BE FORCED TO ACCEPT VACCINATION FOR ANY PURPOSE IF THEY ARE OPPOSED TO VACCINATION

Virginia Plans Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccinations For All Residents

Profile picture for user Tyler Durden

by Tyler Durden

Fri, 08/21/2020 – 21:40

As Friday’s hospitalization numbers across the Sun Belt appear to confirm CDC head Dr. Robert Redfield’s assertion that the American COVID-19 outbreak has peaked and is starting to fade, the State of Virginia is setting a new precedent by seriously discussing forcing Virginians to be vaccinated with whatever rushed-to-marked candidate the FDA approves first.

During an interview that aired on Friday, the state’s health commissioner said he planned to invoke state law to make vaccinations mandatory – once a western product is available, presumably.

Here’s more from ABC News 8:

State Health Commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver told 8News on Friday that he plans to mandate coronavirus vaccinations for Virginians once one is made available to the public.

Virginia state law gives the Commissioner of Health the authority to mandate immediate immunizations during a public health crisis if a vaccine is available. Health officials say an immunization could be released as early as 2021.

Dr. Oliver says that, as long as he is still the Health Commissioner, he intends to mandate the coronavirus vaccine.

“It is killing people now, we don’t have a treatment for it and if we develop a vaccine that can prevent it from spreading in the community we will save hundreds and hundreds of lives,” Oliver said.

Pro-medical-choice activists in the state argue that the issue is a matter of medical choice, and that the hasty “expedited” approval process being implemented by the FDA is grounds for concern. State health authorities insist, meanwhile, that they would never mandate a vaccine that hadn’t already proven to be safe.

Virginia Freedom Keepers Director of Communications Kathleen Medaries, a mother of three from Chesterfield, says this is a matter of medical choice. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue. It’s not a pro-vaccine or anti-vaccine issue,” Medaries said. “For me, it’s an issue of being able to assess each vaccine for myself and my family one at a time.”

[…]

“He shouldn’t be the one person to make a decision for all of Virginians,””Medaries responded.

The state’s top medical official is opposed to a bill that has been put forth in the state assembly that would create more exemptions to the mandatory vaccination power, allowing exemptions on religious and other grounds.

Oliver believes that COVID-19 is a public health emergency that should take precedent over everything else, and that vaccine-assisted herd immunity is the state’s best and only real defense.

The decision comes after Massachusetts said it would make the flu vaccine mandatory this year as part of a campaign to protect the state’s medical system. We suspect Virginia and Massachusetts won’t be the only states to discuss mandatory COVID and/or flu vaccination in the coming weeks, as the school year begins.

THE OBAMA $2,000,000,000.00 VACATION SCAM WHICH YOU AND I AND EVERY OTHER TAXPAYER WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO FUND AS LONG AS THE OBAMAS WERE ALIVE WILL SOON COME TO AN END THANKS TO THE ACTION OF PRESIDENT Donald Trump. NO WONDER OBAMA’S SPEECH AT THE DEMOCRAT CONVENTION WAS FOCUSED ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY ON THE PERSON OF Donald Trump

Obama Vacation

OBAMA VACATION SCAM IS OVER

No wonder the Obamas hate President Trump.

Good news is always sweet, especially when even Snopes will verify the same. Snopes says President Trump did indeed send Obama a bill for all the vacations he has gone on since leaving office….It’s no wonder ex-President Obama’s last speech went after President Trump. Obama’s recent speeches are not to support his Democrat party, they are to slam President Trump for taking away the Obamas taxpayer-paid next vacations for the next 20 years! President Trump cancels their vacations, and refunds the money to the American taxpayers. Again…This was verified on Snopes as being true.

PRESIDENT TRUMP JUST ENDED THE OBAMA’S VACATION SCAM!Ex-President Obama was going to stick us for $2.1 billion or so. Before Obama left office, he arranged with the State Department for a series of “official visits”to foreign countries spanning the next 20 years. Using funds from the Office of Presidential Visits and Vacations, Obama was planning to use what would have been $2.1 billion in free vacations for him and up to 24 members of his family plus staff and even a dog sitter until the year 2036. He would have, that is, until President Trump put a stop to it. Trump, who is always looking for ways to save money, was presented with a ledger that contained all of the Obama’s travel plans and expenses. The ledger was found by one of the workers President Trump hired from outside the typical White House staff. President Trump immediately canceled the plans and recalled all Secret Service agents scheduled to protect the Obamas anywhere outside of the United States.

The Obama’s are also facing another new challenge at the hands of President Trump. They’re going to have to repay the government $214 million for all of those vacations that weren’t official state business. The bill, after some small allowances for days that were possibly work related, is for $214 million. Of the 692 days the Obama’s spent on vacation, almost none included any work at all. They ate, slept, and golfed And, Michelle was given shopping allowances from the Office of Discretionary Gifting Funds, which is supposed to be used to buy presents for visiting dignitaries.Feel free to share this with everyone in your email list. Many Americans will appreciate to know this hidden facts.Yea, President Trump! We love what you do and for what you stand for!P.S. Michelle’s mother, who took care of the granddaughters for all 8 years was GETTING PAID! And NOW she is getting a pension of $13,000 a month for the rest of her life. (chew on that; how much is your social security?)

As of July 1, 2020, President Trump is finally tweeting and getting involved in the issue of the desecration of the multitude of monuments in recent months. His executive order of June 26 announces “long prison terms for desecration of public monuments”, withholding of federal support from state and local governments that have failed to protect public monuments, and withdrawing federal grants from jurisdictions and law enforcement agencies that fail to stop the desecrations. It also provides assistance in the protection of federal statues. The exact details of the implementations of these provisions have not been made public. In any event, much physical damage has already been incurred, and the psychological and cultural damage thus far inflicted on America has been enormous, and will be extremely difficult to remedy.

THE LEFT’S MONUMENTAL HATRED OF HISTORY

By Sidney Secular

August, 2020

The Left’s visceral hatred of the Historical American Nation is being most visibly expressed through obliteration of all physical reminders and history of that Nation as a new dispensation arises to dispense with the nation we have known and will always love.
Allowing the taking down of statues and monuments and the changing of place names and long existing identifying names of well-known entities in an attempt to placate the implacable has never yet worked in all the world’s history. These unwholesome and traitorous activities are the easiest ways to show a progressive’s “cred”, demonstrate that one is “with it”, and to virtue signal to one’s partners in crime and rebellion that one is one with one’s fellows in the “mobocratic” and anarchic ascendancy.
The action usually starts graphically with the application of graffiti to not only historical objects but any building, edifice, wall, or fence with a flat, hard surface that can serve as a palette for senseless pornographic graphics or curse words or any scribbles at all for that matter that show one is willing to be in your face and allow the urge to deface to control one’s actions.
To be an ace in the race to deface is what’s cool and where its at in the Washington, DC area, where crafty and artistic political statements get national attention, such as when the black mayor painted streets with the Black Lives Matter slogan.
One standout artist who did much to advance ghetto style political art, who is now thankfully deceased, was “Cool Disco Dan” who left his signature on all his works of art. Celebrated in a feature story in The Compost, a.k.a. The Washington Post, after his retirement from his career as the leading ghetto artist in the area, Dan left a trail of omnipresent artwork over a stretch of structures over 6 miles long along both sides of the railroad tracks along the “red line” light rail line in the northwest quadrant of DC and nearby Maryland. Included on this trail that brings one to tears are symbols in all colors of the rainbow covering almost every square inch of the outer walls of abandoned department stores and the warehouses that served them, miscellaneous structures, and even the walls of still active businesses. Amazingly, Dan was never seen nor caught in the process of creating his handiworks in the dead of night when the trains weren’t running as he scaled sheer vertical walls in an incomprehensible manner to besmirch multistory buildings from top to bottom.
After decades of local governments tolerating and even encouraging such “art” in ghettos everywhere, it is hardly surprising that such graffiti saturates every square inch of some of our historical monuments, and that such displays are taken with a grain of salt by the general public. The public expects art to be horrible anyway, as the most popular modern art looks like an ape was given free reign with a bucket of paint.
The destruction of the symbols and representations of the past elicits no repulsion in the breast of the progressive. The public educational system and now the mainstream media have primed him to disown and even hate America’s past heroes since he has been taught that the American system was entirely propped up by the black slaves, and the establishment can even get away with stating that the blacks were the creators of civilization, and that we were blessed that all early humanity came “Out of Africa”, and so we somehow owe them a debt of gratitude for enabling us to advance up the evolutionary tree. Many progressives have been hoodwinked to believe that all the important inventions came from blacks or were stolen from them, so there is no need to venerate the white heroes of history. It is stated in the form of an accusation that whites created the capitalist system just to take advantage of “people of color”, and so the system must be replaced with the supposedly more equitable socialist or communist utopia, which is now envisioned as the New World Order.
The progressive sees the contemporary West not in decline, but as triumphant, but feels sure it triumphed only by taking advantage of the rest of the world. Thus, the progressive cannot conceive that we need to make America great again, since Obama somehow already made it great. According to the endlessly invoked new meme, it is the straight white male with his “white privilege” who has caused the world’s problems. Justice therefore consists of opposing the West, the straight white male (SWM), and the traditional symbols and culture of the SWM, even if one is a member of that group oneself–which could involve abasing or debasing oneself and maybe someday erasing oneself in the presence of minorities.
These factors are the only way one can understand the acceptance and appeal/attraction of someone with the stupidity and cupidity of a Joe Biden, who irrationally and irritatingly stated in 2015 that whites becoming a minority would be a source of our strength. Joe just can’t seem to connect the dots and the thoughts so as to make a comprehensible, defensible statement. To an outside, impartial observer this bland Joe has nothing going for him when applying any of the criteria by which one would traditionally judge the viability of a candidate for president of the United States. He was associated with Barack Obama, a black who similarly had none of the usual qualifications for president, so the precedent has been set.
Seen in this light, it is only a matter of time before our society is turned upside down and inside out with the spoiled brats and snowflakes of the younger generations establishing new abnormals for the normies, as they spend much of their spare time developing their abs to absolutely unnatural sizes. This they do while absorbing the propaganda dished out by the alphabet channels displaying and playing in the background.
What started with attacking our Confederate heroes and heritage, which was the easiest low hanging fruit to pluck, requiring little in the way of pluck because the Lost Cause was almost universally vilified already, has progressed into taking down many of the icons of the Historic American Nation, who represented whiteness par excellence, using the usual moral-sounding red herrings that the founders were all racists and slave drivers. Their great accomplishments are of naught to those seeking to make politically correct political statements or just seeking to be naughty.
Father Junipero Serra was a Franciscan missionary who worked to spread the word of God in Mexico in the 1750s and 1760s before moving to present day California. Serra established nine missions there from 1769 to 1782. Most of these missions have become the nucleus of major Californian cities. Serra advocated for better treatment of the native peoples by the Spanish soldiers. He converted over 6,700 Indians to Catholicism in CA and taught them new agricultural methods. He was granted sainthood by Pope Francis in 2015. This marked the first canonization in the United States. Because he used corporal punishment on the Indians to keep them in line, his statue in San Francisco’s Golden State Park was torn down on June 19 by a large crowd. The crowd then proceeded to tear down the statues of Francis Scott Key, author of our National Anthem, and Ulysses S. Grant, the US President and Union Army General.
In a story apparently not appearing anywhere except on the impressive Blog site, www.VDare.com it was revealed that the attack on Robert E. Lee’s statue in Charlottesville, VA was only a warm-up to later depredations and outrages. The extreme leftist city council voted on November 19, 2019 to get rid of the statue of the iconic American explorers, Lewis and Clark (L&C) who basically mapped the West, performed studies of the wildlife encountered, and opened up the upper northwest to settlement. The red herring reason given was that the kneeling position of their famous Indian guide, Sacagewea on the statue was insufficiently adulatory and thus offensive. The next over-the-top move of the city council was to commission a new statue of Sacagewea all by herself the to replace the L&C statue.
Since statues and paintings of George Washington, probably heretofore our most venerated founder, are beginning to be removed, it seems only a matter of time before all vestiges of our history that supposedly hurt someone’s feelings or don’t conform the to the political correctness narrative will eventually be removed. The only practical remedy would be appear to adopt severe financial penalties or jail time for offenders, which although threatened, have not materialized in any significance to date. It is not likely than RINOs and other cuckservatives will suddenly effect umbrage or outrage at the outright attacks on whites and their culture since they have no sense of white racial consciousness, and if a few of them did, they’d be afraid to show it.
Judah Paul Benjamin was born to a British-Jewish family in Barbados that wound up in Charleston, SC, then a leading US port city. He later moved to New Orleans, became a famous lawyer, Attorney General of Louisiana, and then a US Senator from LA. He had the reputation of being the best orator in the US Senate at the time. He owned a well run and prosperous sugar cane plantation that had 140 slaves. With the formation of the Confederacy, he resigned his position as US Senator and was almost immediately named Attorney General of the Confederacy by Confederate President Jefferson Davis, a close friend of his. Benjamin then had a short stint as Confederate Secretary of War before being appointed as Confederate Secretary of State for the remainder of the war. Benjamin was in reality the Number Two man in the Confederacy since Vice President Alexander H. Stephens was not an active player in governmental decision making. Benjamin was called “The Brains of the Confederacy” since he strongly influenced the decisions made by Davis. Upon the fall of the Confederacy, Benjamin fled to London and then to Paris where he again became an influential lawyer in both places. He died and was buried in Paris at the age of 72. There are at least ten monuments and stone markers celebrating Benjamin’s contributions to the Southern cause throughout the South. My observation is that none of these monuments have drawn any attention from the culture destroyers. Could it be because he was Jewish? Further, do top Jews have a major say-so in selecting the monuments and memorials to be defaced?
As of July 1, 2020, President Trump is finally tweeting and getting involved in the issue of the desecration of the multitude of monuments in recent months. Noted below are a few of the more egregious/outrageous examples of recent monumental cultural degredation, destruction and historical memorial removal, as things rapidly and rabidly go downhill:
–Walmart has removed the MS state flag from all its stores in MS and has demanded that the state change its flag;
–The MS Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention has threatened action against any politician in MS that supports the current state flag. What happened to church/state separation? Also, in football, Southeast Conference commissioner Greg Sankey has told the Magnolia State that it won’t be allowed to host a Conference championship game until it removes “the Confederate Flag” from the state flag.
–in GA, 44 descendants of Confederate General John B. Gordon, who once served as Governor of GA. have asked the state’s current governor to take down a statue on the state capitol grounds that has memorialized their ancestor since 1907. The descent into this ultimate indecency came in the from of a letter from family members sent to Governor Brian Kemp. The letter reads: “The continuing presence of this statue on public property serves to negate and undermine and reverse the past and ongoing struggle of Georgians to overcome and reverse the legacy of slavery and oppression of black Americans.” The governor must have been flabbergasted as he has not responded to the letter.
–In NC, because the mob tore down 2 statues in the state’s capital, Governor Cooper has ordered all remaining monuments in the capital be removed for “public safety”, even though his order violates the state’s monument protection act and the Governor has no authority in the matter.
–At the American Museum of Natural History in New Yawk, the bronze statue of President Teddy Roosevelt on horseback has been removed as offensive to blacks even though he never offended them in real life and was our earliest and foremost advocate of conservation and created the US Forest Service. There has been no comment from the environmentalists.
–Gross ignorance in Rhode Island. Governor Gina Raimondo has issued an executive order to eliminate the word “plantation” from all state documents and websites. This is rather problematic since the state’s official name is the “State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations”.

Dissecting Obama’s Delusional DNC Speech

By Jack Cashill

August 21, 2020

Barack Obama’s speech at the DNC’s misbegotten cyber-convention worked only for those Americans, including most in the media, who paid no serious attention to the eight years of Obama’s presidency.  As I document in my book Unmasking Obama, I and scores of other journalists, many of them unsalaried, did pay attention.  What follows are some of the riffs that I, and likely they, found most entertaining.
Obama began by telling us the Constitution “wasn’t a perfect document,” implying that he would have done better had he been there.  Its redeeming quality was that it established “a system of representative government — a democracy — through which we could better realize our highest ideals.”
As late as March 2011, Obama seemed to believe this, saying, “With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed.”
In 2012, with re-election looming, Obama unilaterally decided he could suspend deportations through executive orders.  He gave out a million or so work authorizations while he was at it, arguing that he personally could make laws that were “more fair, more efficient, and more just” than Congress.  Curiously, that is almost exactly what Stalin told the Politburo when he forcibly collectivized Ukrainian farms.
Said Obama at the DNC: “Donald Trump hasn’t grown into the job because he can’t.  And the consequences of that failure are severe.  One hundred seventy thousand Americans dead.  Millions of jobs gone while those at the top take in more than ever.
To blame Trump for the COVID dead is disgraceful, pure demagoguery.  Trump resisted the urge to nationalize the response and allowed each state to respond to local conditions.  As a result, perhaps a third of American deaths occurred in just three of our bluest states — New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.  A much higher percentage of people died of COVID in the U.K.  Was Trump responsible for those?  As to “those at the top” who profited — people like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos — they are almost all Obama-supporters.
“For eight years,” said Obama, “Joe [Biden] was the last one in the room whenever I faced a big decision.”  Biden was certainly in the room on January 5, 2017.  So were Comey, Brennan, Rice, Clapper, and Sally Yates.  The “big decision” here was how best to tie Trump to Russia and subvert his presidency, “by the book,” of course.
In speaking of the Biden-Harris ticket, Obama told the DNC, “They’ll expand health care to more Americans, like Joe and I did ten years ago when he helped craft the Affordable Care Act and nail down the votes to make it the law.”
The DNC might have invited Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber to explain how those votes were really nailed down.  Said Gruber when he thought no one was looking, “This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes.  If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies.
“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber continued.  “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.”
Biden and Harris, said Obama at the DNC, would “rescue the economy, like Joe helped me do after the Great Recession.”  Rescue?  Was this a laugh line?  As Louis Woodhill noted in a May 2012 Forbes article, “[u]nder Obama, the worst recession since the 1930s has been followed by the slowest economic recovery in the history of the republic.  In a very real sense, there has been no recovery at all — things are still getting worse.
Here was one of my favorite Obama lines: “Joe knows the world, and the world knows him.”  No one denies that, especially not the Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs.  In February 2009, Biden was the first to say, “It is time to press the reset button and to revisit the many areas where we can and should be working together with Russia.”
During a 2011 speech, Biden boasted of visiting a high-tech hub on the outskirts of Moscow.  With a proven talent for taking care of those close to him, a talent he would hone in China and the Ukraine, Biden encouraged American venture capitalists to invest there.  By the way, yes, this is the same evil Russia that Trump allegedly colluded with.According to Obama, Biden and Harris “believe that no one — including the president — is above the law, and that no public official — including the president — should use their office to enrich themselves or their supporters.”
At the time Obama ran for U.S. Senate in 2004, he was still struggling to pay his student debts.  Today, the Obamas have a net worth north of $40 million, almost as much as the Clintons and slightly more than Hunter Biden.
Biden and Harris, Obama insisted, understand that the military ought not to be used “against peaceful protesters on our own soil.”  Obama actually said “peaceful,” and no one apparently laughed.
Biden and Harris also understand that “political opponents aren’t ‘un-American’ just because they disagree with you.”  Catherine Engelbrecht had to chuckle at that one.  Engelbrecht faced twenty-three distinct audits or inquiries for daring to organize a Tea Party in Texas.  The IRS stalled or rejected the applicants of hundreds, if not thousands, of comparable groups as well.
In public testimony, Engelbrecht asked Congress “to end this ugly chapter of political intimidation.  There was a time when people of goodwill were encouraged to participate in the processes of government, not targeted because of it.”  Obama and Biden would not have been re-elected in 2012 without that “ugly chapter.
Obama assured us, too, that Biden and Harris understand that “a free press isn’t the ‘enemy,’ but the way we hold officials accountable.”  Tell that to Sharyl Attkisson.  Then with CBS News, Attkisson endured an unprecedented campaign of Deep-State cyber-harassment for her failure to be “reasonable” in her Benghazi reporting.
Meanwhile, James Rosen, then chief Washington correspondent for Fox News, went three years unaware that the DOJ was surveilling his personal and professional communications.  So invasive was the DOJ’s surveillance that it moved even the Washington Post, if not to condemn the action, at least to report it.
After several minutes of multicultural blather, Obama closed by accusing Trump of exactly what his administration did in the closing months of the 2016 campaign: “tear[ing] our democracy down if that’s what it takes to win.”
Mr. Barr, let’s get those indictments ready.
