 Archbishop Vigano here takes a very strong position in favor of the old liturgy, arguing that the old rite of the Mass was an organic and faithful reflection of the teaching of the Apostles and Church Fathers — he says “the healthy blood of the Gospel flows in the veins of the Tridentine Mass” — while the new, revised rite, the “Novus Ordo” (“new order”) Mass, introduced after the Second Vatican Council, is marked by its greater emphasis on seeing the Church as the “people of God” rather than “the mystical body of Christ.” He goes so far as to say that, for this reason, the new Mass “flows with… the spirit of the world.”
