Steve Bannon put it this way: Elder and the [RINO Fox News] establishment “Republicans…”snatch[ed] defeat from the jaws of victory.” A few weeks ago, the possibility of kicking out Newsom was a toss up then Elder entered the race big time and as Bannon said made it a contest between himself and Newsom.

Now, why did Glenn Youngkin win in the solidly Democrat state of Virginia?

Chronicles explained that “culture warrior” Youngkin won because he didn’t play the RINO Foxs News Woke card:

He pounced on McAuliffe who, in a September debate stated, “I don’t think parents should tell schools what to teach.” Youngkin went all over the state defending the right of parents to have a major say over school curricula, particularly if the woke left wished to exclude them from the discussion.The electoral benefits in Northern Virginia were not as impressive as one might have wished. Doctors gather at summit to warn against vaccinating children

Following the CDC’s approval of the Pfizer vaccine for young children, scientists and physicians at a summit in Florida warned against a rush to vaccinate a population with very little chance of severe infection from the coronavirus.

The Florida Summit on Covid in Ocala on Saturday addressed three big questions, reported Mary Beth Pfeiffer for TrialSite News. Do young children need vaccination against COVID? Are the vaccinations safe? Are unvaccinated children a threat to adults?

On each question, the physicians and researchers challenged the federal government’s conclusions, pointing to studies and data.

• Dr. Robert Malone, inventor of the mRNA technology employed by the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines: Inoculating 28 million children 5 to 11 years old could lead to “1,000 or more excess deaths” while the risk from COVID-19 for healthy children is “about zero” and appears to be lower than the seasonal flu.
• Paul Alexander, a clinical epidemiologist and former senior adviser on pandemic policy in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: “We’ve been fed a lot of misleading information … children don’t get severely ill … children don’t die from this infection.”
• Dr. Richard Urso, Texas ophthalmologist: In Sweden, where schools were kept open, there was “not a single death of a child from COVID.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over the course of the pandemic — from Jan. 1, 2020, to Nov. 3, 2021 — 576 children under age 18 died of COVID-19 in a population of about 74 million, which statistically means there is zero risk of death. Further, the CDC’s record of deaths attributed to COVID-19 doesn’t tell the whole story. A study of 48,000 COVID-infected children under 18 found no deaths were reported among those without comorbidities, or underlying chronic conditions, such as leukemia or obesity.

That means healthy children did not die of COVID, argued the speakers at the Florida summit, and they, therefore, don’t need to be vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the potential toll of vaccinating children is unacceptably high, they said. Among the risks is myocarditis, which has been found in studies to be three to six times the expected rate in vaccinated adolescents. A CDC study reported 14 vaccine-related deaths and 849 serious reactions in children 12 to 17 years old.

But the push to vaccinate young children is in full swing

On Twitter, the Muppet character Big Bird declared Saturday, “I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy.” After criticism from Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for using the iconic Sesame Street character to persuade children, President Biden’s Twitter account replied with “Good on ya, Big Bird.” Last week, Pfizer distributed a video featuring “superhero” boys and girls, in capes, masks and wings, celebrating vaccination.

A new survey finds only 27% of parents are eager to get the shots for their kids. Further, 33% of parents say they will wait a while and see how the vaccine is working, and 30% say they will definitely not get the vaccine for their child.

Parents have condemned San Francisco’s plan to mandate vaccination for school children as young as 5, arguing no one under the age of 20 has died from the virus in the city.

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis vowed earlier this month that there will be no vaccine mandate for schools in his state. And parents in New York City gathered in front of City Hall to protest a proposed vaccine mandate.

‘It’s one and done’

At the Florida summit, presenters argued natural immunity must be taken into account.

• Dr. McCullough: “Natural immunity is robust; it’s complete; it’s durable. If it was possible to [be infected] again, it would’ve happened hundreds of millions of times. It’s one and done.” He said that about 100 reinfection cases have been reported in the scientific literature, but it’s unclear whether they actually were second infections. Natural immunity is important, because the CDC estimates 120 million Americans, about one-third of the population, have been infected with COVID. And more than 200 million will have been infected after the Delta wave.
• Dr. Malone: “With COVID, you develop immunity to 50 or so proteins. With the vaccine, you develop immunity to one structural protein,” the spike protein.
• Dr. Ryan Cole, an Idaho pathologist: “Don’t let them tell you that recovered-from-COVID does not lead to long-lasting immunity,” pointing to 106 studies indictating the superiority of infection-acquired immunity while the CDC uses a single “pretend paper” to maintain that vaccines offer more protection.

Malone supports vaccination for high-risk groups, but told Pfeiffer his conclusion “may change as additional data become available.”

Dr. Pierre Kory, president of Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, criticized what he described as a corrupt, Big Pharma-controlled system and government that is blocking options for early treatment with inexpensive “repurposed” drugs such as ivermectin. Journals have refused to publish scientific papers showing the efficacy of repurposed drugs while failing to publish retractions of opposing papers that turned out to be fatally flawed. He said that if “you want to keep your job, you let the leaders do what they do,” a posture that has led to “unmitigated and repeated acts of corruption, which are hurting public health.”

Meanwhile, some health care providers say their careers are on the line because they have insisted on providing off-label treatments that have been shown to be safe and effective.

“We’re getting the s*** kicked out of us, there’s nowhere to go,” Dr. Bruce Boros, owner of three urgent care centers in the Florida Keys, told Pfeiffer.

“The CEOs and administrators of hospitals are threatening us. You’re going to be fired. You must walk in lockstep with our standard of care.”

Speakers dismissed the contention that unvaccinated children are a threat to adults, arguing there is no scientific support for it.

Urso said children “are not superspreaders,” and Malone contended it’s “not the kids responsibility to protect the elders.”

No science
Last week, the associate editor of the British Medical Journal, Dr. Peter Doshi, said in a panel hosted by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., on vaccine mandates that there is no science supporting universal vaccination, because there is no long-term safety data. Likewise, advisers to FDA and CDC committees expressed concern about the lack of data.

Hours before the CDC panel’s approval last week of the Pfizer vaccine for children 5-11, the British Medical Journal published an article featuring a whistleblower’s charge that poor practices at a contract research company helping to carry out Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine trial last fall may have compromised data integrity and patient safety.

Many prominent epidemiologists and other health experts, such as Dr. Ben Carson, have argued that the risks of vaccinating children outweigh the benefits.

During the FDA advisory committee meeting, Dr. Eric Rubin, editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine, expressed the concern of many members about possible severe side effects that cannot yet be measured. He concluded, nevertheless, there was no other way forward.

“We’re never going to learn about how safe the vaccine is unless we start giving it,” he said. “That’s just the way it goes.”

Carson, the acclaimed former Johns Hopkins pediatric neurosurgeon and HHS secretary, said in a recent interview the Biden administration’s move to vaccinate young children for COVID-19 amounts to a “giant experiment,” arguing there is no sufficient data to determine the long-term risks posed by the shots.

Here some of the other health experts who believe children should not be vaccinated:

• Dr. Martin Kulldorf, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, member of FDA and CDC scientific advisory committees: “I don’t think children should be vaccinated for COVID. I’m a huge fan of vaccinating children for measles, for mumps, for polio, for rotavirus, and many other diseases, that’s critical. But COVID is not a huge threat to children.”
• Dr. Harvey Risch, professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Yale School of Public Health and Yale School of Medicine, on what he would do if schools mandate the vaccine: “If the child has chronic conditions that make their risk appreciable, then there is reason that they should be considered for vaccination. Other than that, if it were my child, I would (remove them from public school and) homeschool them.”
• Dr. Sunetra Gupta, infectious disease epidemiologist and professor of theoretical epidemiology at the Department of Zoology, University of Oxford: “At this stage, we should limit vaccination to the vulnerable and not target children (and possibly other young people) in COVID-19 vaccination strategies.” Children “are unlikely to benefit from COVID-19 vaccination directly,” “the collective benefit would likely be very limited” and “we have already imposed very large costs on children during this pandemic through indiscriminate restrictions, using them as mere means to others’ ends.
• Dr. Robert Malone, virologist and immunologist known for his work developing mRNA vaccine technology: “There is absolutely no scientific or medical justification for vaccinating children, in my opinion.”

Vox Cantoris vs. Aqua

The Catholic Monitor commenter Aqua had this to say to the Vox Cantoris website:Aqua said…Fred, your topic here reminds me of a dust-up, a few days ago, on Vox Cantoris. He asserted that it is our duty as Christians to wear masks to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass if the government tells us we must, or they will close our Churches.

My response to him was that I find it inconceivable that an orthodox Catholic, such as himself, would ever submit to unjust dictates from secular government over how we approach Our Lord in Holy Mass. My response to him was that the Mass belongs to Catholics and we decide, within the bounds of Tradition, and in accord with the Word of Jesus, how we conduct ourselves in Holy Mass. Only one authority prevails over Mass and that is our God and the Sacred Tradition given by Him to guide us in all times and places.

Understand, there is nothing inherently wrong with wearing a mask to Mass. But there is EVERYTHING wrong with wearing a symbol of godless, satanic, pagan, death cult tyranny to Mass because the godless tyrants have asserted authority over us and we submit as the price of “admission”. WHY :must I put it on? That is the crucial question, as I approach Our Lord in the sacred moments at Calvary.

Vox doesn’t like to hear such things. Vox Cantoris has closed his combox. He is very angry with those who disagree with him that we must submit to secular demands of mask wearing as the price of entry to Holy Mass. Too bad. I would ask him at what point does secular authority over Mass end? After masks, vaccinations? After vax, digital passports and proof of regular DNA software booster updates? Perhaps a tiny little molecular sized digital microchip injected into my bloodstream – “you won’t even know it’s there”. Must we wear a symbol; inject a symbol, like the Chinese, of submission to secular authority and the power of The Party, in order to worship God within one or more, however minor, secular imposed limits?  

Now, terrifyingly so, I see that even those I considered reliable orthodox Catholics, take the side of the State and say “yes, we must do so; resistance to demands are … *selfish*” (his words).

Chinese communist rulers assert their authority over who, what, when, how in Holy Mass, and they don’t think themselves monsters for this. There are practical reasons for everything they do. The Red Communists see themselves as against of peace and stability and justice as they define those terms. Wearing the hammer and sickle on my breast pocket and on my wife and daughters’ veils demonstrates fealty to that regime and to their authority over what happens in our holy temple. Wearing the mask is a similar or the same thing.  

Because the regime insists I must in order to celebrate Mass is THE REASON I WILL NOT.

Symbols mean something. Especially symbols that verge on satanic sacramentals.

There is no power on earth, that has authority to even one moment in the Holy Sacrifice. I would rather go underground than worship God under the restraints and permissions of a godless, satanic, tyrannical regime.12:02 PM

Aqua said…I had a lengthy discussion with my SSPX Priest early this year about the Gene Therapy injections, and what was the official position of the SSPX on political, social, business mandates to vaccinate as a condition of participation in political, social and economic life. His position, drawn from SSPX theologians, was summarized in the statement “this is not the hill to die on”. I disagreed with him then, as now, and will never submit. It is a hill worth dying for. I have paid a personal price already – my life is fundamentally different in many ways, because I will not submit, nor give up that hill.

In reference to Bishops and Orders such as SSPX who submit to secular authority over their Parish – who is permitted to attend the Celebration of Holy Mass, the blogger referenced above has this to say: “this is neither the line in the sand nor the sword to fall on.”

Yeah … I keep hearing that. Which line, then; which sword?

It’s not the mask that is the problem, per se. It’s about secular government reaching into every individual life and dictating granularly what they are to do, say and think; how they are to live; what they are to put on their face; what they are to inject into their bodies. And that, *most importantly*, their control also now extends to our Holy Catholic Faith and how we are to approach Our Lord; how we are to come into His presence.  

So what is the line in the sand, the hill worth dying on? I first heard that term from my SSPX Priest about 8 months ago (“take the vax – not this hill”).

The Catholic Faith and Sacred Tradition is the line – long, holy and straight; Holy Mass under Canonical jurisdiction without secular, Pagan government interference is the hill, They can have none of it – not one particle. When we walk into Holy Mass and every face in the socially distanced pew is nothing but a sea of eyeballs; when we approach Calvary all masked up – lower the mask, stick out your tongue, raise the mask (argh!) – we demonstrate by that act of will we have placed government over God.

Since the blogger, like so many others, is unwilling to engage in thoughtful debate about something as core to our times as this question of the extent of secular authority into the beating heart of our Faith, and our decision to submit or resist, I would be curious to know … curious to know from anyone in general … WHAT IS the hill worth dying on, in the current condition? We know how this goes, now. They (pagan communist governments) are using military force to compel submission to every demand of us – which they have already said is universal masking, injections and internal digital AI passports of compliance.

I remember, before the Covid hysteria lockdowns, listening to a conservative YouTuber interviewing a well knowing fiction writer whose writing he loved who turned out to be a liberal. It was enjoyable learning how and why his fiction was so good and successful until he got into politics. Ironically to the point of absurdity, he called Donald Trump a fascist and then explained how it was good Joseph Stalin liquidated the kulaks, the Russian peasant farmers, for the good of the Communist revolution and Russia. 

That gave me an insight about liberals as well as their “nice’ collaborators and enablers. The conservative YouTuber seemed to me uneasy (as I was) that such an intelligent and gifted writer, who up that the moment when he got into politics was such a “nice man,” could say:

If Biden and Chinese Deal Francis are not resisted along with all their “nice” collaborators and enablers in China and the United States then a kind of Stalinist collectivization like happened in Russia will happen to us:

Stalin called upon the party to “liquidate the kulaks as a class” (December 27, 1929), and the Central Committee resolved that an “enormous majority” of the peasant households should be collectivized by 1933. In 2013, the National Review’s Victor Davis Hanson explained how we got to this Stalinist-like point by showing how the Obama Stalinist Collective Hive “assimilated” the W. Bush Hive and implicitly seemed to show how the supposed Bush war on Islamic terror was “assimilated” into the Woke FBI/CIA war on the “unassimilated” Christian and Trump conservative “domestic terrorists” who are fighting against the Obama/Biden Woke Stalinist Collective Hive:

Something akin to that creepy groupthink arose when the Obama administration took power and sought to reformulate the so-called war on terror. Almost immediately, Obama operatives suggested that radical Islamists were no more likely than any other group to commit acts of terrorism. In fact, the very idea of terrorism — not to mention a war against it — was supposedly a Bush-administration construct unfairly aimed at Muslims.

Obama apparently sincerely believed that there was no intrinsic connection between Islamism and terror; or, if there was, Islamic radicalism was no more dangerous than right-wing or supposedly Christian-inspired terror. Or if Islamic radicalism did arise, it might be mitigated by multicultural sympathy and outreach, mostly by contextualizing the violence as an inevitable result of prior Western culpability.

Precisely because the Bush-Cheney protocols had thwarted over 40 post-9/11 Islamist plots, Senator Obama had the latitude, in 2008, to campaign for the presidency on the premise that these measures were both unlawful and superfluous. After he became president and learned of their utility — and assumed the political responsibility for the consequences of abandoning his effective anti-terrorism inheritance — Obama squared the circle of embracing or expanding all the elements of the war against terror by politically correct euphemism.

The result has been that ever since 2009, various members of the administration collective have sought, each according to his station, to bring us into the network of not associating Islamism with terror. And the Borg have certainly been diverse, as all sorts of political appointees, opportunists, and career officers plugged themselves into the hive. Obama may have killed ten times as many suspected Muslim terrorists by drone as did Bush, but we were to assume that the fact that there were no Christian, Jewish, or Buddhist victims of Hellfire missiles was irrelevant…

Bush and, in fact, had been deeply embedded in the Bush-Cheney anti-terrorism efforts were drawn into the Borg — quite willingly and for careerist reasons. Despite the Muslim Brotherhood’s long history of Islamist-inspired violence, and its decades-long anti-American efforts, James Clapper, director of national intelligence (who had worked for the Bush administration and defended its launching the Iraq War by claiming that Saddam Hussein had sent his WMD stockpiles to Syria on the eve of the American invasion), offered an absurd illustration of hive thinking: “The term ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ is an umbrella term for a variety of movements. In the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried al-Qaeda as a perversion of Islam.”

John Brennan — who, like Clapper, in his pre-Borg days both worked in the Bush administration and was criticized for his anti-Islamic-terrorism zealotry (among other things, for supposedly promoting enhanced interrogations in Guantanamo of the now-politically-incorrect category of “enemy combatants”) — also was rewired when he became Obama’s counter-terrorism advisor. Soon he duly opined of the now-taboo idea of jihadism, “Jihad is holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Islam meaning to purify oneself or one’s community.” Apparently the Tsarnaevs got a bit out of hand as they were purifying themselves in their holy struggle on the streets of Boston.

Sometimes the Borg drew in those well outside the military, intelligence, and national-security communities. According to NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, when President Obama set out the “foremost” task of NASA, it had nothing to do with space exploration. Rather, the president “wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science . . . and math and engineering.” I think the Borg logic here is something like the following: Thanks to the legacy of Averroes, America can still get to Mars — and thanks to our recognition of that debt, the Tsarnaevs and Hasans of the world will “feel good” and are going to celebrate diversity rather than kill lots of innocent people.

In the historic evolution of our liturgical calendar, we Christians have depended, as did the Jews before us, on the vagaries of the Moon. The date of Easter is fixed according to when the Spring Full Moon occurs. Since the Moon isn’t always full on the same date, the date of Easter Sunday shifts. Lent, however, has a fixed length. As a result, the beginning of Lent slides around, earlier or later, depending on the timing of the Spring Full Moon. At the other end of the equation, Epiphany (real Epiphany) is a fixed date: 6 January. Since the beginning of Lent slides around, the time between Epiphany and the pre-Lent Sunday of Septuagesima (three weeks before Ash Wednesday), will be longer or shorter depending on the Spring Full Moon. Therefore, when Lent begins earlier in the year the Mass formularies for as many as four Sundays after Epiphany, slated to be celebrated between Epiphany and Septuagesima, must be skipped. On the other end of the Lent/Easter cycle, Pentecost also shifts its date because Pentecost is always the same number of days after the movable Easter.The twenty-four Sundays allotted in the Season after Pentecost are not enough to get us all the way to the end of the liturgical year, back around to Advent. This is why we go back and pick up the Mass texts for the Sundays after Epiphany that we didn’t use. Waste not want not.

By the way, the last Sunday of the liturgical year, before Advent, is always the 24th Sunday after Pentecost, … even if it isn’t.

An amusing factoid. In the Saint Andrew Bible Missal, a hand missal for the faithful produced originally in Belgium in 1962, the already innovating clerical clever-boots couldn’t resist tinkering. They call the 3rd Sunday resumed after Epiphany the 24th Sunday after Pentecost, the 4th the 25th, the 5th the 26th and the 6th the 27th. Then, instead of calling the final Sunday of the Season of Pentecost the “24th or Last”  they – get this – call it the “Last Sunday after Pentecost”!

It seems appropriate at this point to explore this Sunday’s Gospel reading which is from the beginning of Matthew 13.

In Matthew 13, Jesus is by the sea. He gets into a boat and is let out onto the water at the end of a line so that he can be heard by more people arranged along the shore. Jesus told the Parable of the Sower, sowing seed in various terrains. After this, He said why He uses parables, and explains the parable. Then He told the Parable of the Wheat and Tares, also called Weeds and the Wheat. That’s our Gospel passage this Sunday. After this, he gave the Parables of the Mustard Seed, and of Yeast, and then more about why He used parables. Following this, He provided an explanation of the Parable of the Weeds and Wheat.

Christ Himself explains the parable. I, who am merely alter Christus, would be remiss should not take a back seat in the online boat and fail to direct your attention to Matthew 13:26-42.

The general outline of the parable is that a man had a field sown with wheat. In the night, an enemy creep crept in and sowed tares alongside the wheat. Tares (so-called in the King James Version) or Cockles (in the Douay-Rheims – in Greek the marvelous zizánia), are probably darnels (Lolium temulentum), a grass-like poisonous weed which early on looks like wheat. Consumption of too much darnel can kill, though a little can render one intoxicated, thus the Latin name, temulentum (“drunken”). Sabotaging an enemy’s fields by sowing darnels was a common tactic in the ancient world, attested to from Palestine to India. Intertwining roots, they take over, not just grow benignly side by side with regular crops. Sowing darnels could ruin a field for years and even choke the life out of olive trees. Sowing darnels in an enemy’s field was so bad that it was specifically prohibited in Roman law, surely in force in Jesus’ time, though it is attested to in the Emperor Justinian’s (+565) collection of case law, the Digesta, in a case from the 2nd century.

Hence, the Lord didn’t invent a fictional scenario: people did this horrible thing to each other. His listeners would have grasped the severity of the attack immediately. This is why the servants wanted to weed out the darnels right away. But the master says, and this is the parable twist that gives force to the message, that they should allow the wheat and darnels to grow side by side. At the liturgical year draws to a close, Holy Church in her traditional worship is nourishing us with a deep reflection on the Second Coming of the Lord and the Four Last Things, Death Judgment, Heaven, and Hell.

In His own explanation of the parable, Jesus says that sower of the wheat is the Son of Man (God), the field is the whole world, the enemy sower is the Devil, and the darnels are “sons of the evil one.” Harvest time is the “close of the age and the reapers are angels.” The burning of the tares, the poisonous wheat-imitating darnels, is the eternity of Hell. Again, it is the Lord who uses the image of eternal burning in fire, where “men will weep and gnash their teeth” (v. 42).

During the difficult and prolonged Donatist controversy that tore the unity of the ancient Church in North Africa to shreds, St. Augustine of Hippo (+430) used the Parable of the Weeds and Wheat and described the Church as a corpus permixtum malis et bonis… a body thoroughly mixed through with good and evil people. They would eventually be separated. The body, the Church, itself is good and holy and spotless, but her members could be wicked, side by side with the righteous.

Donatists wanted to create a church only of the pure. The fact that priests and bishops had caved in during Diocletian’s persecution and had handed over sacred texts and offered incense sacrifice to the divinity of the Emperor meant that, for the Donatists, those “traditores… handers-over” were forever tainted. Obsessed with Old Testament concepts of ritual purity, Donatists believed that these fallen bishops could, by physical contact, pass their sin to another in conferring ordination. Those traditores who had returned to ministry in the Church passed on their stain through contact. As a result, Donatists were also obsessed with the appearance of holiness in the members of their purist church. But, in the Catholic Church there were manifest sinners, traditores. For Donatists, through those sinner ministers all the lay people received the taint and guilt from their priests to the point that the whole Church would be guilty and stained.Advertisement – Continue Reading Below

Donatists thought that the Church had to be outwardly, visibly impeccable in contrast to the fallen world. If their bishops and priests outwardly appeared holy enough, lay people who followed them could be certain that their Donatist Church was holy.

Augustine confounded these Donatist heresies by teaching how the validity of sacraments does not depend on the holiness of the human minister but rather on the holiness of the true minister, who is Christ, in a Church which remains spotless and holy despite her sinful members. Therefore, the Catholic Church’s sacraments are valid even if her priests and bishops are manifestly sinners. Eventually this would be formulated with the phrase ex opere operato not ex opere operantis. Validity is guaranteed from the work (sacrament) having been conferred by Christ, not on the work of the possibly even sinful minister conferring it.

Speaking of intertwined roots, in Hippo the church of the Donatists was up against the back of Augustine’s own cathedral, such that they could hear each other singing. The Doctor of Grace, knowing the severity of the crime of sowing darnels, and their poisonous, choking effect, knew what he was doing when he employed today’s parable.

Perhaps stemming from his own self-examination of conscience, his prayerful reflection on his own life, while Augustine affirmed that lay people have every right to expect their priests to be holy, and to behave as if they are holy, priests mustn’t ape holiness, wear it like a costume merely. Augustine knew that priests themselves are pardoned sinners, striving for and with those whom they serve. At the Last Supper, Christ – explains Augustine using the Song of Songs – washed the feet of His soon to be Bishops because of the sins He knew they would commit: they would get their feet dirty in their ministry. By washing their feet, Christ taught them that He was their cleanness and that they in humble and ongoing conversion had to persevere and walk the dusty and dirty roads not just the paved, to strive among the weeds not just the wheat.

For some years now, Holy Church has been reeling from revelations of sinful priests and bishops, some engaged in abuse of minors, repeated blows upon visible livid bruises. In France dreadful results of an investigation have recently been released. In the news in the last few days, we read of an ongoing case of a priest who is highly visible in the sphere of tradition-minded Catholics. While we presume innocence in the ongoing case, we nevertheless watch the developments with charity informed by knowledge of the human condition and the relentless attacks of the Enemy of the soul particularly on Christ’s ordained.

The fall of a bishop or priest – trumpeted by the secular media and even within the Church by Tradition hostile modernist progressivists – can leave us discouraged to the point that we wonder why we should persevere in such a Church.

Until the return of the Lord, there will always be clerical darnels, sown by the Enemy, in the field of the Church. Some of them lavishly dressed and with fancy titles. We mustn’t be so panicked at their manifestation, that we forget that final reckoning rests with the Lord of the Harvest.Advertisement – Continue Reading Below

Informed by the long experience of the centuries with its many controversies and challenges, today, as in the time of Augustine and the Donatist threat, in a Catholic spirit we have to resist the tendency to latch on to outward appearances in our prelates and priests so that, when their faults are exposed, we sink into a morass of disillusionment and give up.

We bring our cares with us to Mass on Sunday. By the share in Christ’s priesthood that comes with baptism, you can raise these cares to God for transformation with the gifts Father raises at the offertory.

This Sunday, having placed our concerns and hurts and fears on the paten with the host and into the chalice with the wine, at the silence of the priest’s Secret prayer, know that he prays for us all:

We offer You, O Lord, this sacrifice of atonement, that You would mercifully absolve our sins and direct our faltering hearts.

Election 2020 Really Was Rigged

Mollie Hemingway has written a blockbuster book about all the strands of deception and falsehoods that converged to take down Donald Trump on Nov. 3 and 4 and beyond (and before) in her book: Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech and the Democrats Seized Our Elections (Regnery, 2021).  I twice asked two Barnes and Noble stores in two weeks whether they had it in stock, and each time — no. So, I finally had to order it online.  It has ten chapters, plus a prologue and an epilogue. The total number of endnotes is 1,243 (I added them up), many having extensive commentaries. Only a large and excellent team of researchers could put together a book like this, and she credits them by name in her acknowledgments. 

Hemingway’s conclusion: It is clear that the Dem party has followed a pattern of cheating, inch by inch, for a long time. 

As a class, the Dem leadership and journalists have turned into liars and false prophets. However, Ms. Hemingway begins the book with this encouragement: “You are not wrong” (the Prologue). Don’t allow the media to gaslight you. You are not crazy. Hemingway thoroughly presents the end-noted evidence.

The evidence can be boiled down as follows. Trump won a fair election on Nov. 3, but lost a fraudulent one late on Nov. 3 (about 22:00) and on to Nov. 4 and beyond, in some important Electoral College states. The Dems believed their own (fake) polling data that had said Trump was far behind. But they were shocked when they saw that he was about to win by a huge margin in those states. No matter. That’s when they went to Plan B and did their dirty work, in the early hours.

Instead of calling the election for Trump, the Dems, with their allies in the lying media, unprecedentedly stopped the normal vote count “coincidentally” around the same time in some of those states, sent the monitors home, and in the late hours illegally rammed through numerous lopsided ballots (a “surge”), favoring Basement Biden, such that he “won” by 10,000 to 30,000 votes, on Nov. 4+ in the targeted Electoral College States. By video, we fortuitously saw boxes filled with votes pulled out from under tables after the observers were told to go home, in Fulton County, Atlanta (Chapter 10). (In contrast, Texas and Florida got their vote counting done on time, and their populations are larger than the selected “special states.”) Don’t let the media gaslight you. Those ballots really were fixed and unaccounted for. 

Over the next decade or two, the Dems plan to flip red states blue by their methods.  They have been doing this in carefully selected states already, over several election cycles. Here is the Dem’s long-range, gradual strategy, which was exposed most visibly during election “season” (not day):

 (1) Find dark blue vote counting centers. 

(2) Promote mail-in ballots and call anyone a racist who objects (huge bundles of ballots have been found at drop-boxes). 

(3) Ram through those fake, lopsided Dem ballots.

 (4)  Or the vote counters in dark-blue cities will count many Dem ballots twice. 

(5) They may even employ questionable vote counting software. 

(6) Result: The Dem nominee wins! 

How do journalists turn themselves into compromised liars? Ms. Hemingway details the evidence in her Chapter Five, titled “The Revenge of Fake News.” We don’t need to spend much time here because everyone who daily reads online sources knows about the false Steele dossier, the Russian collusion hoax, the journalists lying about Trump’s efforts to find a fix for COVID (Chapter Three), burying Biden’s corruption (Chapter Eight), and so on. Reading these chapters may sicken fair-minded readers because they will be plunged into the heart of darkness. We all knew the media tilted left, but now they have become rabid leftists. Trump exposed their derangement syndrome, by being, well, Trump. He punched them in the mouth every day. Very gratifying.

Another main message of the book is that the GOP in various states was caught flat-footed when Dem operatives, like Marc Elias, sued or persuaded local election officials or even a secretary of state or two to give a large amount of control to private firms (Chapter One) funded by “Zuck Bucks” and other left-wing outfits (Chapter Seven). She summarizes: “The left spent hundreds of millions of dollars on its scheme to embed operatives in government election systems that aren’t supposed to take sides. Republican voters had no idea what had been done until it was too late” (p. 329). 

A major solution for the GOP is to win back the office of the secretary of state, which would counter the Dem strategy of taking over this office from the middle of the 2000s. Another solution, which is hugely popular among the voters, is to insist on voter ID. Also, mail-in ballots must be eliminated or curtailed. The Virginia legislature and the new governor, for example (and many other states), must act now to implement these changes — and not to listen to empty, overused, and false accusations of racism. 

Hemingway ends her book on a cautiously optimistic note, but with a warning stinger: “In the fight to come, those men and women [noncompliant, rebellious Americans] will have the best weapon – truth — on their side. The only question is whether their leaders will have the courage to use it” (p. 332). But make no mistake: the GOP leadership is constantly lagging behind, trying to keep track of the relentless, unblinking, amoral left.

America’s future is still in the balance. Virginia was won, along with scores of smaller, lesser-known victories, because the noncompliant Americans have woken up.

 Now maybe they can apply the whip hand to their feckless, sleepy leaders who always want to “get along” and “reach across the aisle,” not recognizing that their colleagues across the aisle will stomp all over them to hold on to power. 

Of course, buy the book. It may wake you up and cause you to fight for our beloved Republic. Hemingway and her excellent team have sounded the battle trumpet and provided us with ammunition with this heavily end-noted book. Kudos to them.

As we saw on display during his “town-hall” meeting on CNN this Thursday, Joe Biden is completely incapable as a President, and as a human being. If Joe Biden were not President, he would need 24/7 in-home care. He is incapable of taking care of the necessities of his own day-to-day life, much less running a country of 330 million, with the largest economy and the most powerful army. So, if he is not running the country, who is? It clearly is not Kamala Harris. She has been shipped to political Siberia. She is rarely seen, and barely heard other than the grating echoes of her cackles. What we are witnessing on the big stage of American politics is “Weekend at Bernie’s” with a fluttering heartbeat. Joe Biden is making no decisions. He is doing nothing by himself. He is the stooge. This is not a defense of Biden for all the horrible decisions that “his” administration has made so far, but cognitively Biden is not capable of running this country. Someone behind the scenes is calling the shots

So, if is in not Joe Biden, who is running this country? Who decided to open the borders to millions of illegal immigrants? Who signed off on the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal? Who is bringing in tens of thousands of unvetted, non-ally Afghans into America? Who is printing so much money that we’re on the verge of “hyper-inflation”? Who shut down so many parts of our energy sector that we are no longer energy independent, and are back to relying on OPEC for energy? Who is pushing this divisive racial agenda which is tearing our country apart? Who is labelling concerned parents domestic terrorists? Who has weaponized the FBI against everyday citizens based on their political beliefs? Who?

The person orchestrating all of this owns a mansion in the shadows of the White House. He is a power-hungry narcissist who is only concerned with implementing the far-left’s agenda. His name is Barack Hussein Obama. He lives within walking distance of the White House, and the vast majority of Joe Biden’s staff were in his administration. Who do you think those people are listening to, someone who they think is the next coming of the messiah or a cognitively impaired elderly man who doesn’t know what day it is, and just wants to be left alone to have his ice cream cone?

America is not supposed to have a shadow government. Transparency of its leaders is a core principle. But Obama does not believe that principle should apply to him. In an interview reflecting on his time in the White House, Obama said his ideal set up as President would be, a “third-term… where I had a stand-in, a front man, or front woman, and they had an earpiece in, and I was just in my basement in my sweats, looking through the stuff, and I could, sort of, deliver the lines, and someone else was doing all the talking, and the ceremony. I’d be fine with that.” Not only is that is a brief glimpse of what is happening in real time, it exposed what an extreme narcissist he is, and how not only does he not understand the fundamental concept of our system of government, but he is hostile toward it. Obama’s vision of his ideal “third term” is him as an unaccountable king or a czar, someone who can’t be bothered to answer to the lowly people whose money he is spending, and whose lives he is controlling. He simply wants the people to shut up and comply to his dictates.

Obama recently told Virginia voters who are concerned about teaching their kids Critical Race Theory, and the dangers of the radical gender ideology which caused a 14-year-old girl to be raped in Loudoun County, Virginia; “We don’t have time to be wasting on these phony, trumped up culture wars, this fake outrage that right-wing media pedals… we should be doing more to support people who are educating our kids, and keeping our neighborhoods safe.” That is a perfect illustration of what Obama does. He pushes an agenda which harmed a young girl, and then blamed the people who objected to his agenda. He sets the building on fire, and then criticizes the fire fighters for flooding the building to put out the fire he started. Obama said nothing about keeping our neighborhoods and kids safe during the 5 months of riots in our communities in 2020, or when Democrat lawmakers were defunding the police. He didn’t care about educating our kids when he repealed school choice legislation as President.

Does anyone remember back in 2006 or even 2007, before Obama, when black and white people actually got along? The time before every white person was characterized as a “racist” for simply being born white, and every black person was labelled a victim, when people were people regardless of their skin color? What our country is transforming into is directly aligned with Obama’s Marxist vision for the world. Obama’s father was a Marxist politician in Kenya, and in his book, Dreams of My Father, President Obama wrote, “To avoid being mistaken for a sellout. I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist Professors and the structural feminists.” This is a very revealing passage about the man. Not only is he acknowledging his Marxist’s leanings, but he admitted that he embraced those radical ideologies not on intellectual or rational grounds, but because he did not want to be viewed as a “sell-out”. His need to be accepted by other black people because of his father’s abandonment of him, steered him to his radical Marxist ideology, and is also the reason why he uses race and false accusations of racism into bullying people into compliance to the Marxist ideology because, as he admitted, that is what happened to him. 

And in alignment with his Marxist beliefs, Obama, when he was running for President, promised to “fundamentally transform” America. For someone who chooses his words as carefully and artfully as Obama, this was not a misstatement or an overstatement. It was exactly what he did while President, and is continuing to do in the shadows – “fundamentally transform” America. That should scare the hell out of every American. He didn’t say “restore America’s values” or “return America to its founding principles”. No, he said, “fundamentally transform.” He was not arguing that America lost its way over the last 200 years, and must rediscover the ideals of its founding; life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, equality, individual rights, constrained government. No, “fundamentally transform” was a direct assault on the fundamental values of America which are in direct opposition to Marxist ideology, and why Obama has to “fundamentally transform” America.

What made Martin Luther King Jr so powerful, so effective, and so great for America is that he embraced the American founding principles, and used them as a mirror to show America where it had gone wrong. In many of his speeches, Dr. King repeated the words of our Constitution or Declaration of Independence back to his fellow Americans, to expose to America where we have failed to live up to our founding principles when it came to the black community. And he was absolutely right. He saw our founding principles as right and necessary for his cause of equal rights and freedom for black Americans. Dr. King believed the fact that we had failed to live up to those principles, meant it was the people, not the principles, who needed to change. 

Obama believes the exact opposite. He believes because America has failed to live up to its founding principles, it is the principles, and the foundation of the country that must change. That is why these harmful policies that he has been orchestrating over the last 9 months are designed to tear America down to its studs, so he can “fundamentally transform” America, and rebuild it in his own image.

Not only is Obama the most un-American man in America, he may also be the most dangerous man on the planet. The record of history is very clear, and very consistent. An unaccountable narcissist who controls the levers of power of one of the most powerful countries on the planet, always ends up in major atrocities. And that is exactly what is going on behind the scenes at the White House.
