A new look at Covid 19
Presented herewith is an interview of Dr. Peter McCullough on May 7th by Tucker Carlson which has caused me to view the current pandemic with fresh eyes. The video is about forty-five minutes in length, but I doubt you will find a minute of it boring.

Lest you be concerned that Dr.McCullough might not be enough 0f a medical heavyweight, both he and Tucker admonish viewers to Google him. Additionally, the good doctor enumerates his qualifications during the interview.
Dr. McCullough is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and clinical lipidology. He cares for advanced patients with common medical problems including heart and kidney disease, lipid disorders, and diabetes. He has become an expert on COVID-19 illnesses and welcomes recovered patients into his practice.
As skillful an interviewer as Tucker Carlson is, I doubt I have ever seen him flummoxed by a respondent’s answers, but, herein, you will witness such flummoxization.

HATRED OF ISRAEL IS NOW ONE OF THE CHIEF MARKS OF THE DEMOCRATS

Why Does the Left Hate Israel?Hating Israel has become the surrogate Western way of hating itself.
By: Victor Davis HansonMay 19, 2021
As over 3,000 rockets are fired into Israel by Hamas, the establishment of the Democratic Party seems paralyzed over how to respond to the latest Middle East war.
It is not just that they fear that the squad, Black Lives Matter, the shock troops of Antifa, and the woke institutions such as professional sports, academia, and the media are now unapologetically anti-Israel. They are in terror also that anti-Israelism is becoming synonymous with rank anti-Semitism. And soon the Democratic Party will end up disdained as much as was the British Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn.
The new core of the Democrats, as emblemized by Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), has in the past questioned the patriotism of American Jews who support Israel, and often has had to apologize for puerile anti-Semitic rants.
The Left in general believes we should judge harshly even the distant past without exemptions. Why then, in venomous, knee-jerk fashion, does it fixate on a nation born from the Holocaust, while favoring Israel’s enemies, who were on the side of the Nazis in World War II?
It was not just that the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Amin al-Husseini, was a Nazi sympathizer. Egypt, for example, welcomed ex-Nazis for their hatred of Jews and their military expertise—whether the infamous death camp doctor Aribert Ferdinand Heim or Waffen-SS henchman Otto Skorzeny. The Hamas charter still reads like it is cribbed from Hitler’s Mein Kampf
The Left claims it champions consensual government and believes the United States must use its soft power clout to isolate autocracies. But the Palestinian Authority and Hamas refuse to hold free and regularly scheduled elections. If an Israeli strong man ever suspended free elections and ruled through brutality, U.S. aid would be severed within days.
If history and democratic values cannot explain fully the hatred of Israel on the Left, perhaps human rights violations do. But here too there is another radical asymmetry. Arab Israeli citizens enjoy far greater constitutional protections than do Arabs living under either the Palestinian Authority or Hamas.
Is the Left bothered by the allies of Hamas? After all, most are autocracies such as Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia.
We return then to other reasons for the woke furor directed toward Israel.
In part, the Western Left despises the unapologetically successful—as if they are always beneficiaries of unfair privilege. Underdog Israel was not so hated from 1947-1967. Then it was poor, more socialist, and in danger of being extinguished by its many neighboring enemies. But after the victories in the 1967 and 1973 wars, the Israeli military proved unconquerable, no matter how large the numbers, wealth, and armaments of its many enemies. For the Left, Israel’s current strength, confidence, and success mean it cannot be seen as a victim, but only as a victimizer. The more its Iron Dome missile defenses knock down the flurry of Hamas rockets, the more its planes take out those who launched them, so all the more the Left bizarrely believes Israel wins too easily and acts “disproportionately.”
In the virtue-signaling world of the contemporary West, Israel has become caricatured as playing the role of the American white police, the Palestinians a foreign version of the oppressed Black Lives Matter movement. The Palestinians then are woke, the Israelis not so much.
The Left also has a strange idea of current “imperialism” and “colonialism.” The general rule is that Westerners cannot settle in numbers in the non-West. But the reversal is certainly not true. Millions of Middle Easterners are welcomed into Belgium, France, Germany, the U.K., and the United States.
Yet, Jews have been in what is modern-day Israel since nearly the dawn of civilization. And their 1947 borders only grew after they were attacked and threatened with extinction.
Again, the Left always claims that its anti-Israelism has had nothing to do with anti-Semitism.
But it is almost impossible now to make that distinction when woke criticism obsesses over democratic Israel and ignores far greater oppressors and oppressed elsewhere.
Why are there no demonstrations in major Western cities damning the Communist Chinese government that has put 1 million Muslim Uighurs in camps? Why are the world’s millions of former refugees—the Volga Germans, the East Prussians, the Cypriot Greeks—long ago forgotten, and yet the Palestinians alone deified as perpetually displaced by the Jews?
Our formal NATO ally, Turkey, received little global pushback for its treatment of the Kurds, or its frequent intolerance of religious minorities. Why then does the Jewish state alone always earn such venom?
Hating democratic Israel while it is under attack is not just a reflection of the new woke and ethically bankrupt Left. It is also a symptom of a deeper pathology in the West, one of moral equivalence, amoral relativism—and self-loathing.
Hating Israel, then, has become the surrogate Western way of hating oneself.

George Weigel and Cardinal Muller don’t hold back on Cardinal Ladaria letter
Cupich and Tobin as delegates of Democratic Party

May 21st, 2021

  • Muller, Arroyo, Weigel on EWTN. Councils of Nicaea, Ephesus, Paul VI did not give intransigents veto power.
  • On May 13 Cardinal Gerhard Muller, former head of Rome’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), and George Weigel, veteran Vatican watcher, appeared on EWTN’s The World Over with Raymond Arroyo. They were asked about the May 7 letter of the current head of the CDF, Cardinal Ladaria, to Archbishop Gomez counseling that the U.S. bishops go slow in denying Communion to pro-abortion Catholic politicians and that the bishops not make public Cardinal Ratzinger’s letter of 2004 on the matter. Some of the most significant parts of the interview:Cardinal Muller: “Everybody knows the content of this letter [2004 letter from Ratzinger to U.S. bishops re denying Communion to pro-abort politicians]. The principles are very clear. There is no reason to hide it.”George Weigel: “This is one of the most puzzling things about Cardinal Ladaria’s letter; he doesn’t seem to understand what’s been going on between the Church and Catholic public officials the last 20 years at least. The issue is not whether Catholic officials understand, as the cardinal says, the Church’s teaching. The issue is that they reject the Church’s teaching….“The other thing I find simply astonishing in this letter is its notion of consensus…. The first Council of Nicaea did not wait for the Arian bishops to agree with the orthodox bishops. At the Council of Ephesus, the Nestorian bishops had their say, but when they were not persuaded, the rest of the assembly went ahead and taught the truth about Mary’s title as Mother of God…. Pope Paul VI was willing to let intransigents like Marcel Lefebvre have their say against a conciliar declaration on religious freedom; he was not prepared to give them a veto…. Why are we giving the intransigents in the U.S. bishops – a very small group – why are they being given a veto?”Cardinal Muller: “The first mission of the Church is to protect human life, because it is given by God. It’s not one value among other values.”Raymond Arroyo: “Ed Pentin is reporting that Cardinal Blaise Cupich of Chicago and Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark met with Cardinal Ladaria just days before he sent this letter to Archbishop Gomez urging the bishops to slow-roll any document regarding this pro-abortion Catholic receiving Communion document….”George Weigel: “I thing it’s quite extraordinary that two bishops of the U.S. Bishops Conference, two members of a very small minority, should take it upon themselves to go to Rome and try to get the Holy See to throw a spanner in the works of their brother bishops….”Cardinal Muller: “These two bishops came to Rome as representatives of the Democratic Party, but the bishops are the representatives of Jesus Christ and the revealed truth….”

Rene Henry,

This week, the Texas Heartbeat Act was signed into law, prohibiting all abortions after a preborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable.

Just yesterday, the Biden administration slammed our new Pro-Life law!

Apparently any law protecting preborn Life is unacceptable to the Biden administration! Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, took aim at the Texas Heartbeat Act last night, calling the measure “backward-looking” and “the most restrictive, recent assault on women’s fundamental rights under Roe v. Wade.”

Biden has made clear that he will wage war on Pro-Life states like Texas.

Flashback: Is “Germany and EU to Legalize Pedophilia and with it, Child Pornography as well”?

In 2009, Redice TV reported:

“Booklets from a subsidiary of the German government’s Ministry for Family Affairs encourage parents to sexually massage their children as young as 1 to 3 years of age. Two 40-page booklets entitled “Love, Body and Playing Doctor” by the German Federal Health Education Center (Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung – BZgA) are aimed at parents – the first addressing children from 1-3 and the other children from 4-6 years of age.

“Fathers do not devote enough attention to the clitoris and vagina of their daughters. Their caresses too seldom pertain to these regions, while this is the only way the girls can develop a sense of pride in their sex,” reads the booklet regarding 1-3 year olds. The authors rationalize, “The child touches all parts of their father’s body, sometimes arousing him. The father should do the same.”

Stop for a moment of silence, ask Jesus Christ what He want you to do next. In this silence remember God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost – Three Divine Persons yet One God, has an ordered universe where you can know truth and falsehood as well as never forget that He wants you to have eternal happiness with Him as his son or daughter by grace. Francis Notes:

– Doctor of the Church St. Francis de Sales totally confirmed beyond any doubt the possibility of a heretical pope and what must be done by the Church in such a situation:

“[T]he Pope… WHEN he is EXPLICITLY a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church, and the Church MUST either deprive him, or, as some say, declare him deprived, of his Apostolic See.”
(The Catholic Controversy, by St. Francis de Sales, Pages 305-306)

Saint Robert Bellarmine, also, said “the Pope heretic is not deposed ipso facto, but must be declared deposed by the Church.”

Remembering John Vennari

hicksonfamilyCatholic ChurchTheology  May 21, 2021 10 Minutes

An Author’s Note, on 21 May 2021: After John Vennari (the editor-in-chief of Catholic Family News) had died on 4 April 2017, my wife Maike and I wrote a six-page tribute to him and to his family that is now to be found below. Our tribute was first published, in an abbreviated form and as excerpts of our original words, by Catholic Family News in its May 2017 edition. The fuller presentation of our tribute was then graciously published on 21 May 2017 (exactly four years ago) by the editor of the AKA Catholic website. The tribute below will show that Maike, my wife, also cherished John Vennari, although she never met him in person.

Robert and Maike Hickson

21 April 2017

Saint Anselm (d.1109)

It was only in late August of 2007 in Brazil that I came more intimately to know John Vennari—and thus to perceive his varied high qualities and warmth of heart—especially because the two of us then had a few concentrated days together there in Brazil immediately after Father Gruner’s fine Fatima Conference (20-24 August)—to which I had been unexpectedly invited as a speaker. (Along with Father Gruner, John had invited me to speak selectively on two related, but contrastive, topics: (1) on Catholic Sacramental Literature and the Higher Chivalry a Catholic Centurion Needs Today; and (2) on Perception Management and Strategic Deception in the Growing Forms of Total War We Face.)

In spite of John’s warm invitation, I had not at first thought of accepting this special opportunity, for my wife Maike and I had just been married sacramentally on 11 July in Europe, in Alpine Austria, near Switzerland. And we were understandably somewhat fatigued from the travel and also from our recent talks at another Catholic Conference. Nonetheless, my dear wife earnestly encouraged me to accept John’s invitation and to go promptly to Brazil! I did and I am manifoldly grateful for it.

John Vennari was then forty-nine years of age and robustly exercising the full range of his own manifold faculties and high spirits (and humor) along lines of excellence: intellectual and moral virtue. John was then soon to turn fifty years of age, on 24 February 2008, the Feast of Saint Matthias, the Apostle chosen to replace Judas Iscariot who had mysteriously committed such intimate perfidy and dark deception.

(After our return to the United States in late August, and with his vivacious and smiling encouragement, I sent John a special gift for his upcoming 50th Birthday. The gift brought out in him some fine sparkles and coruscations, I have heard. For, it was something that a man—a strong and cultured man—could and would receive and drink! And would proceed to do so even promptly!)

Since my wife, Maike, never met John in person—but only had telephone exchanges with him as well as a reciprocity of e-mail messages about their own writings and publications and varied interviews—I shall now first try to convey what John shared with me personally during those days in Brazil.

During our time rooming together in Brazil that late August, John excitedly introduced me to what he called a graduate-level—indeed, a doctoral level—of Political Science education, supplemented by some enriching Strategic Studies. For, John had with him on his accompanying computer a complete set of the 1980s British Situation Comedy and Political Satires known as “Yes, Minister” (1980-1984) and “Yes, Prime Minister”(1986-1987)—especially with “Sir Humphrey Appleby,” the “Permanent Secretary” and Sly Counsellor to “the Minister” and then to “the Prime Minister.” One of John’s favorite (and so characteristic) set of words uttered and recommended by Counsellor Sir Humphrey to Minister Jim Hacker himself was: “Let us not bring the truth in at this stage.”

John proceeded to show me, over some three days together, five or six half-hour episodes of this brilliant series of comedy and political satire. For example, the episode on how the Prime Minister would have to choose a new Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury, and whether or not the candidate at least had to believe in God! And have certain other qualifications.

When hearing John laugh and deftly comment on these depictions—also in light of the current Catholic Church—I then knew that I was close there to John’s genuine heart. Over the years—having first met him in 1997—I never saw him utter anything sardonic or harshly sarcastic. His humor and irony were always generous and magnanimous. No bitterness, no constrictedness, no sneer—despite the provocations. He might help the situation by giving a vignette from P.G. Wodehouse, whom he cherished, or one from a short story by Evelyn Waugh, such as “Mr. Loveday’s Little Outing”!

When John had made up lyrics to his then vividly sung song on advancing in “The Chancery,” he was smiling and radiant with tears of laughter. In the late 1990s when I introduced John to the musical Dr. E. Michael Jones in South Bend, Indiana and heard them sing together with their fiddles or guitars, it was a rare festive and antic combination. Mike Jones gratefully told me afterwards—and Jones is no effusive praiser of persons—that “John Vennari is a brilliant lyricist.”

In Brazil, John told me much about his life growing up around Philadelphia (E.M. Jones’ home town, as well.) For, he knew I grew up nearby in South Jersey, less than 60 miles away, in Margate, on an ocean seacoast island (Absecon Island) which is some 6 miles south from Atlantic City—and John had often visited the coast and beaches there as a boy and as a young man—maybe even with one of his “rock bands.”

Later on he attempted to be a monk (along with the Diamond brothers and their lame, but robust, superior) at The Most Holy Family Monastery, a more traditionalist monastery just outside of Berlin, New Jersey, a little to the east of Philadelphia. (That former monastery is now Mater Ecclesiae diocesan Church which celebrates only the Traditional Liturgy.)

While John and I were discussing his time and difficulties there at the monastery, when he was searching for a confirmation of a true and sound religious vocation, he told me a charming story of how he first met his future wife, Susan.

Susan was at that same time, apparently, a Graduate Assistant to a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania—he was a professor of Arabic and of Middle East Studies, as I recall–and somehow Susan was sent by her professor with a large quantity of papers or texts to be copied on the excellent (and fast) copy machines at the Berlin monastery. While recollecting his time as an Aspiring Novice Monk, John then stopped in his longer narration and charmingly said to me with a smile: “Robert, When I first saw her [Susan] I knew I had no religious vocation.”

I am not sure in what year it was that Susan had first visited that Berlin monastery with her learned papers to be copied, but I believe it was after I had first met her in Germany in the early 1990s. It was at Dr. John Haas’ Seminar and three-week summer school in lower Bavaria, in Eichstaett, Germany at which I had also given some invited talks on Catholic Literature. When I later met Susan in the late 1990s at the South Bend Conference (conducted by Mike Chabot) after she and John had married and had at least one child, she was so vividly grateful for her time in Germany and for her dear family, too!

In Brazil, John also told me: “Robert, you are a soldier, and you have probably had a lot of fights growing up, at least at West Point, but likely also so much more later on. But, do you know that I was never even in a fight growing up?! Also, in my marriage with Susan, we have never had a fight! We just fit together so well. Even our temperaments.” The way he recounted all these things was so warm and innocent and affectionate. The beautiful picture of John’s face–as it was posted on the Catholic Family News Website after John’s death on 4 April—reminded me of John’s face in Brazil as he told me of Susan and such matters. His countenance is (and was) so pure and clear and big-hearted. Just look at his eyes! (We now have a copy of that picture of John in the kitchen of our Old Farmhouse near the hearth and our active fireplace.)

John often shared with me short films of his three children’s musical or dramatic performances—to include their rides in home-made wheeled buggies or with sleds in the snow. Often there were the joyful antics of the young children, including young Benedict, his last child and only son.

Over the almost twenty years of our association and friendship (1997-early 2017), we exchanged some deep thoughts and opinions about some challenging subjects: the brilliant and polite pre-Vatican II learned exchanges in the American Ecclesiastical Review itself between Father John Courtney Murray, S.J. (d. 1967) and Monsignor Joseph Clifford Fenton (d. 1969); the reasons (in addition to weak health) for Msgr. Fenton’s own sad departure from the Vatican Council after the First Session; the extent to which John’s hero Msgr. Fenton ever met or wrote or spoke to Father Leonard Feeney; and the subtle shift made by some SSPX Traditionalists from “Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus” to the vaguer and much more ambiguous formulation “Sine Ecclesia Nulla Salus”; what Our Lady of Fatima specifically meant by “the Errors of Russia”?—Name five!; what did Msgr. Fenton mean by his distinction in his own, often magnificent pre-Vatican II 1958 book, The Catholic Church and Salvation: In the Light of Recent Pronouncements by the Holy See, namely the distinction De Ecclesiaabout someone’s somehow being “in” the Church, but “not a member” of the Church?; And what are the implications of this claim—without thereby sliding into Karl Rahner’s notion of the putatively “anonymous Christian”?

John was always gracious and thoughtful in our discussions, even when he was unable to find and render a satisfactory answer—satisfactory also to him and to his winsome integrity.

It meant very much to me later—when my wife Maike in 2012 was secretly and so strategically forming up a one-day Academic Conference and a subsequent Festschrift for my upcoming 70th Birthday on 29 December 2012—that John Vennari deftly chose to write something for the book which explicitly looked back, once again, to our time together in Brazil five years earlier, and even to one of the talks on literature I had presented there. The memorable title of John Vennari’s Festschrift contribution was “These Fragments I Have Shored Against My Ruins” (65-68). John remembered the proposed motto of a Catholic Centurion and Soldier—“Blessed be he who has saved a child’s heart from despair”—recalling Georges Bernanos’ own haunting words in The Diary of a Country Priest.

John Vennari’s own “spiritual childhood” always touched me deeply—his docility, humility, and trust. “Sinite parvulos ad Me venire,” said Our Lord. May John now rest truly in peace; and may he now or soon know, at least inchoately, the Life More Abundant promised by the Lord to those of Loyal Love ad FinemRequiescat in PaceAbundantius!

A small and hopefuly apt word of gratitude may be fittingly added now by MaikeHickson :

One of the first articles I wrote as a Catholic—on G.K. Chesterton’s What’s Wrong With the World—was published by John Vennari, in 2009. It was an honor for me, since, still in Germany, his name had resonance among traditional Catholics. I remember having seen reprints of his writing about the Alta Vendita document, in German. Down the years, I have gotten to know John for his charity, clarity, and cheerfulness. Our own little children still remember watching, many a time, a little film John once sent to us from a local little pig race which he had attended with his own children. He so clearly was such a loving father and husband.

Unforgettable to me (and my husband) are his and Chris Ferrara’s running filmed commentaries from Rome on the Synod of Bishops on the Family. John and Chris together both made such a contribution in resisting the evil flowing out from those heterodox debates in discussing the events of the day, dissecting the lies then being spread, and then themselves returning, again and again, to the clarity of the Catholic Church’s traditional teaching. For many of us, these video clips were strengthening and uplifting. Certainly my husband and I cherished them.

I always have a sense that these two Synods on the Family must have damaged John’s health. They were life-taking. They were so upsetting and so shaking. We are still shaken to our inner roots. John gave so much in these last years of intensified battle, from articles on the life and work of Cardinal Carlo Martini to the equivocal writings of Cardinal Walter Kasper. John gave his best, and, as it now seems, his last. He exhausted himself, as it seems now, for the greater good of the Church. He gave his all in the defense of the Catholic Faith. I often have compassion for him and his comrades—and I may include my husband in it—because they have had to fight this battle for so long, and often in such a lonely fashion. For us younger Catholic writers, it is only a shorter time that we try to do battle for Jesus Christ. But now, at least the tide is changing a bit, and, though still much disdain we feel, people’s hearts are more open to tradition. People like John Vennari, Arnaud de Lassus, Anthony S. Fraser, and also my husband, had to carry the cross for a very long stretch— even since 1962—without seeing any light. I wish to honor them and to thank them.

John wrote in his contribution to the Festschrift in honor of my husband the following piercing words when speaking about those who try to preserve “Catholic fragments”: “Lone individuals who keep alive forgotten truths are a mark of our time. What was considered normal in Christian Civilization are now oddities extolled by the few who recognize the value of these discarded fragments.” This he wrote in 2012. That was before the papacy of Pope Francis. How much further have we come ourselves into becoming these “lone individuals who keep alive forgotten truths”? It is with a sense of sadness and longing that we will miss John —we miss him as a comrade here on earth, and we long to be with him in Heaven,

Remembering John Vennari

May his intercession be now even more powerful than it was while he still walked and wrote among us. May Our Lord have welcomed him with a warm embrace and tears of joy, and with His Mother standing by Him, with a very special smile. You have fought your fight well, John.

THE DEMOCRATS WILL REGRET THIS

The Demos’ 1/6 Capitol Theater CommissionDemocrats may wish they had not wished for this on. Predictably, as a final chapter of Trump Derangement Syndrome while he was still in office, Demo Rep. Nancy Pelosi and her Senate sidekick, Chuck Schumer, immediately seized on the riot as theatrical fodder for the 2022 midterm elections.

HAT TIP:

You may have heard… On January 6, 2021, there was an “insurrection” in the Capitol building — apparently a much more egregious assault on that building than that inflicted when the British visited in 1814.
Predictably, as a final chapter of Trump Derangement Syndrome while he was still in office, Demo Rep. Nancy Pelosi and her Senate sidekick, Chuck Schumer, immediately seized on the riot as theatrical fodder for the 2022 midterm elections.
Let’s review.
On that unfortunate January day, after former President Donald Trump held a rally down the road, some outlying miscreants at that rally, spurred on by conspiracy theory luminaries such as InfoWars chief Alex Jones and others, unlawfully entered the Capitol building to disrupt the Electoral College process. A few of those protesters disgracefully attacked police, but most trespassed in the building without causing harm or damage.
As I noted in my original analysis regarding this shameful incident, the reason Capitol Police were not prepared for that fringe mob is that all law enforcement agencies expected Trump rally supporters to act like they always have — with civility and respect. There was no reason to believe that some fraction of 1% of those attending the Trump rally would resort to the riotous thuggery otherwise associated with “peaceful” leftist protests. Heretofore, that has been the standard modus operandi of the so-called “Black Lives Matter”Marxists and their like-minded “antifa” fascists.
Unlike all those leftist protests across the nation, there was only one actual casualty of the Capitol riot — an unarmed young veteran named Ashli Babbitt, who was shot dead by a Capitol Police officer. There has been no further public investigation — yet.
Though Pelosi and Schumer desecrated the death of Officer Brian Sicknick, claiming he was murdered by protesters and then using his funeral as a theatrical prop for Pelosi’s proposed “9/11-typecommission to investigate the riot, it was determined, after a three-month delay, that Brian’s death was not the result of the false narrative propagated by Pelosi and Schumer and their Leftmedia propagandists. Furthermore, it should be noted that, by way of invoking the 9/11 Islamist attack on our nation in reference to her “commission,” Pelosi also managed to use the deaths of all the victims who perished that fateful day as political fodder.
Notably, the 9/11 Commission was officially mandated to “investigate and report to the President and Congress on its findings, conclusions, and recommendations for corrective measures that can be taken to prevent acts of terrorism.” Pelosi’s 1/6 commission is almost identically mandated to “investigate and report to the President and the Congress on its findings, conclusions, and recommendations for corrective measures … that could be taken to prevent future acts of targeted violence and domestic.”
To advance their charade, Pelosi and Schumer arranged to have the National Guard called in and established security perimeters around the Capitol grounds and other key buildings — essentially $500 million in taxpayer-funded props around their theatrical set.
Pelosi padded the props with a “Congressional Gold Medal for the Capitol Police, who a few weeks earlier she and Schumer had implicated as racists. Then there was another special “Capitol deployment ribbon” for all the Guard extras. (I should note that these token awards were not welcomed by many Capitol Police and military participants.)
For the record, the only Capitol grounds assault since January 6, despite all the security, was the murder of Capitol Police Officer William Evans by a radical black Islamist — who was then shot and killed as he attempted to assault another officer.
Fast-forward to this week.
The massive federal manhunt that followed the Capitol riot has resulted in 429 arrests for varying offenses from unlawful entry and trespassing to destruction of property and assault. Of those, 53 have been detained. There has been only one guilty plea.
Meanwhile, there were tens of thousands of assaults and thousands of murders across the nation over the last year, primarily in Democrat-controlled urban centers, that remain unsolved with no arrests.
And the Demos’ DC response reflects their penchant for double standards regarding the condemnation of riots and rioters. As historian Victor Davis Hanson confirmed, last year the nation endured months of “torching federal court houses and police precincts, 700 policeman injured, 40 people dead, [and] $4-$5 billion in damages.”
Among those dead were actual murdered police officers. That notwithstanding, not only was there not universal condemnation from Demos, but in many cases there was support for the violence — including from our current vice president, who this past summer said“They’re not gonna let up, and they should not.”
Timed with the departure of the National Guard personnel, Pelosi called for a vote on her “bipartisan commission” to investigate the January riot, which was approved. Thirty-five Republicans supported the commission idea because, if approved by the Senate, it will open the door to a broader investigation than just what Pelosi envisions, including a probe into the death of Ashli Babbitt and Pelosi’s use of Brian Sicknick’s death as political fodder.
In the Senate, Schumer is ramping up the theatrics, calling the riot “the greatest attempted insurrection since the Civil War.” Ah, an angle to infuse the investigation with the Demos’ hate-hustler narrative. But the proposal is meeting with vigorous resistance from Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Let me be clear: I do not support any of the actions of the jackass Capitol protesters, who apparently lacked any modicum of self-awareness sufficient to temper their actions, which set up the Pelosi/Schumer “investigation” charade.
But if the commission is approved in the Senate and there is an actual investigation, Democrats, including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, may wish they had been more careful about proposing this sham investigation.

Pennsylvania Voters Strip Governor’s Powers After He Closed Churches, Left Abortion Clinics Open

If you abuse power long enough, you’ll lose it. That was the message from Pennsylvanians to Democratic Governor Tom Wolf, the first chief executive in the country to be stripped of some of his executive authority. The blowback — which has brewing for months — was a result of the governor’s COVID policies, which voters have obviously decided were too oppressive and overreaching. To put an end to Governor Wolf’s “dictatorship,” as some called it, they’ve completely rewritten the state’s emergency powers.
It was the first state in the nation to accomplish it — but 44 others could follow. After mask mandates, lockdowns, capacity limits, and church closures, the American people are saying, “Enough!.” The next time there’s a pandemic or other disaster, voters are doing everything they can to make sure more than one person is calling the shots. By a seven-point spread (53 to 46 percent), Pennsylvanians passed constitutional amendments that a) limit emergency declarations to three weeks (not three months) and b) require legislative approval to extend them.
This was a case the state legislature had been making for months. They passed six bills to overturn Wolf’s suffocating COVID decisions, but he vetoed every one. Fine, leaders decided. If he won’t let us rein in his authority, we’ll ask the people to. National Republicans — who’ve been watching similar moves in red and blue states — cheered when voters didn’t hesitate in curbing Wolf’s influence. “Last night, Pennsylvanians voted to reject Democrat Gov. Tom Wolf’s overreach of executive powers after his failed COVID response — a clear sign of accountability coming in 2022,” said RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel.
Top leaders call the vote a victory for “individual rights and freedoms,” a push to “reestablish checks and balances” so that there’s a “functioning, collaborate government.” Wolf, ironically, called the amendments a “power grab,” and wasted no time expressing his displeasure. “There’s no question that I opposed this. I said that many times in many different ways. But the voters have spoken, and Pennsylvania wants to change the rules. And I think it’s incumbent upon us to the best we possibly can to make those rules work.”

It’s just the latest proof that Americans — on everything from elections to COVID — don’t take kindly to Democratic governors acting like tyrants. Ignoring the democratic process and imposing the Left’s will on states isn’t what most voters are looking for in their top leaders. And to prove it, lawmakers in 45 states have put more than 300 measures on the table to reel in executive actions related to the pandemic or other emergencies. In blue states like New York and Massachusetts, even Democrats are getting involved in pushing back governors of their own party whose mandates have gone too far.
Elsewhere, in places like Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, New Hampshire, Idaho, North Carolina, Kansas, and Arkansas, similar debates are playing out. “Our system is set up not to give one person of any party too much power over the lives of Kansans,” House Speaker Pro Tem Blaine Finch argued.
Throughout 2020, Nick Murray warned in NRO, state legislatures were sidelined while governors “assumed total control of the coronavirus.” It’s past time, he argued, that those legislatures fight back. Emergency powers were always meant to be used “sparingly.” “It doesn’t exist to allow one person to control an entire state government for a year or more. He cites a new report by the Maine Policy Institute that ranks states by their power balance in an emergency. Let’s hope, he writes, that one of the silver linings of COVID is that it forces Americans to “reckon with the danger of concentrating power in the hands of the few.”

Aim Higher: “By Blunting the Ideal of Christian Perfection, Bergoglio Implicitly denies the Immaculate Conception”

The Catholic Monitor is honored to post the following short piece by member a Knight of the Immaculata (MI). The Militia Immaculatae movement of Total Marian Consecration was founded by Saint Maximilian Kolbe, the Hero of Auschwitz:
“There must be a battle for the highest ideal.”

(Father Maximilian Koble)
Who is that ideal?  The Immaculate Conception.  Why must there be such a battle?  Because Footnote 351 of Amoris laetitia smears Our Blessed Mother with the taint of our own sin, as though sanctification cannot or need not take place.  That is why the symbol of the alternate “queen,” the false deity which the heretics would like to foist upon us in place of the true Queen of Heaven and earth, is nothing but a bowl of dirt.

By blunting the ideal of Christian perfection, Bergoglio implicitly denies the Immaculate Conception–as, indeed, he does explicitly in other ways as well.  That is why just about the first thing he did after seizing the power of the papacy (I take Bishop Rene Gracida’s viewpoint too) was to savage the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, whose specific charism it is, to reflect the Immaculata and propagate devotion to her.  Here is the very heart of the issue.  (The Sacred Heart, so to speak.)
It is not enough to comment, however incisively, on the latest Bergoglian outrage.  We have to “Aim Higher,” making our goal the goal of the MI itself. [“Aim higher!: Spiritual and Marian reflections of St. Maximilian Kolbe,” Paperback – https://www.amazon.com/Aim-higher-Spiritual-reflections-Maximilian/dp/0913382590]
There is no other way.

Note: “The Militia Immaculatae (meaning the “Army of the Immaculate One”), called in English the Knights of the Immaculata,[1] is a worldwide Catholic evangelization movement founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe in 1917… Joining the MI involves making a personal act of consecration to Mary. Members wear the Miraculous Medal as an outward sign of their consecration.”

‘The purpose of the Knights is contained in these words: to do all you can for the conversion of sinners, heretics, schismatics and so on, above all the Masons, and for the sanctification of all persons under the sponsorship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Immaculate Mediatrix.- Fr. Maximilian Kolbe, 1938.'” [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Militia_Immaculatae]

Make this a practice. By doing this you are doing more good than reading anything here or anywhere else on the Internet.

The AAS guidelines explicitly allows “sexually active adulterous couples facing ‘complex circumstances’ to ‘access the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.'”

–  On February 2018, in Rorate Caeli, Catholic theologian Dr. John Lamont:

“The AAS statement… establishes that Pope Francis in Amoris Laetitia has affirmed propositions that are heretical in the strict sense.”

– On December 2, 2017, Bishop Rene Gracida:

“Francis’ heterodoxy is now official. He has published his letter to the Argentina bishops in Acta Apostlica Series making those letters magisterial documents.”

Pray an Our Father now for the restoration of the Church by the bishops by the grace of God.
